It’s all a scam. I’ve had Apple replace or fix my stuff without the care package. You have automatic warranties and I think for Apple it’s up to a year after purchase. I once needed my beats fixed and it was over a year and I kept pushing them until they said they can do a one time courtesy. I take very good care of my electronics and my main problems have been some faulty wiring or something.

It looks like it's made so that the front glass takes the sacrifice and could be replaced without extensive surgery, all the cameras and sensors being fine

I think part of the reason why it didn’t break because the walls seems to be made of gypsum and the floor isn’t ceramic , still impressive though!
This video was actually educational, I am not sure what everyone is whining about. I always wondered what happens if the front glass shatters, now I know.

That front piece of "glass" was probably designed for nothing more than fall and impact protection. Like a tear away for motocross, it was meant to be an expendable part of the product long term. The speaker thing is definitely concerning. If someone is picking them up by the straps or carrying them that way long term, how long before that speaker area becomes damaged.
The cost of replacing that glass is 799, or 299(apple care)+499. lol. Or so it seems from a quick google.
I usually hate these types of videos. BUT…this is the first useful and hopeful. I actually watched to the end. Great news that the front glass is mostly a “cover.” Replacements will be on the market soon. Possibly silver, gold, and blue mirrored! :)

It’s good to see this, so Apple can improve it. That first glass layer can be replaced by plastic instead or just remove it.
I think the outer cover isn’t pure glsss but a glass & some type of polymer mixture.
Nah, the glass is more resilient to scratches and the thin plastic layer adds some strength, and prevents it from breaking into small pieces.
Its main purpose is to protect the sensors, the eye screen is just a gold coating to justify the high price of basically VR headset. Nothing crucial.
The durability of this thing is crazy. Also I have seen pictures of the little speaker pods being removed from the main unit so I think they might be replaceable? If so then if a regular person broke their speaker pods and had apple care they could probably just go and have it replaced at the apple store.
Yah the sides pop off with a sim eject tool and no disassembly. Would take a few seconds to replace.
@@halifaxhiker yeah, I saw that too (ifixit I think) and that's really cool! especially important that the charge port and the battery cable are replaceable (hopefully are sold standalone) for these common repairs.

I worked at the Apple Store and what they don’t tell you is when a new product comes out, if it breaks immediately for any reason, they will take it back and give you a full return or give you a new product with or without AppleCare

I'm impressed how the Vision Pro parts break-away to distribute the impact forces when the drops happen. After watching this, I think Apple did an amazing job protecting the most expensive part of the system by having the attached parts break away like that. Probably why they choose magnetic attachments instead of a more secure attaching method. Great vid...

On one hand, this is super impressive engineering, but on another more upsetting hand, this video reveals just how clever Apple’s marketing is. We’ve been elevating the perceived value of the product in part because of this “hard to fabricate,” “sculpted” glass and it’s effectively a curved screen protector with shiny plastic underneath. 😅
That or an incredible display of material engineering...either way, pretty cool that it is certainly more user-friendly.

If Apple remove that $3,000 glass part, the Vision Pro would cost $500 and weight much less. Apple put that glass for marketing the premium feel. But you don't really need that glass.
In the official bill of materials released, the display alone costs more than a Quest 3 Pro headset. Then it’s the double-CPU’s, then the 17 sensors. The glass in the front of VisionPro is the third cheapest component in that whole product.
