- A fascinating TV documentary clip, relating to poular 1960s toys. These include Action Man and Barbie dolls. Other strange toys of the period are included. Of course, many of these toys are now highly collectible and go for very high prices. Hope you enjoy it.
I forgot about Action Man's "eagle eyes that really moved!" lol I miss those days.
I had a Tressy doll. She had a key that was turned in her back and made her hair grow.
That guy makes it sound like gender specific toys are bad. Does he not realise people have specific genders.
In addition to the general dumbassery of this "documentary", by leaving at an important part, the inference is that Action Man figure was invented in Britain. No, it was invented in the USA, as GIJoe. Palitoy was an existing toy company, and they acquired the license to make GIJoe in Britain with their own branding. That branding and the accessories was what Palitoy "developed", not the action figure itself.
I really see no problem with gender based toy's ....it all seems quite normal.
Meccano. Brilliant stuff.
Why do British TV Presenters always have to be so pretentious and boring? This was completely not funny....although they seem to think they are so clever.
I came here looking for Johnny Seven! Heavy sigh!
I don't know where Action Man was sold but it wasn't the US. There was G.I. Joe and that was it.
In America we had "captain action" and "action jackson", but no "action man". (would have been funny to put a tiny wind-up gearbox inside the head to drive the eyes around).
Your damn right...manly toys with Weapons !! Hoorah !!! Are the Brits and Euros bothered by this ? Well to bad. Lol ..Semper Fi
ACTION MAAAN!
'Now with eagle eyes that actually move'
'On the lookout for action... up in the mountains'
Why did the Nazi soldier have a sten gun? Stens were an Allied weapon - the germans never manufactured or used them!
The kid at the left 1:48 lol
Smoking Baby. AAAAaaaahhhhh..... (Seriously, that's so surreal it's awesome.)
Politically incorrect, gay, sinister... oh Damn! How terrible those days were! Thank god we're far more advanced now. Kids' toys now are so safe and proper; like Homies that teach kids how to be gang-bangers and of course depict proper cultural representation. "Viva La Raza!" (Tongue-in-cheek.)
Omg WHERE can I find the smoking baby doll? A perfect politically incorrect knick knack to place on a side table Lol
1:37 Austin Powers as a child.
