This is yet again a very Masterful Presentation. Thank you for your Intelligence on this product. I like the MADI Audio Input Device, very useful with my Constellation. Also what I love about BMD is my other switchers are still very useful and purpose full without this unit. If I did not have a switcher this is a GREAT Point to start from. Overall you have explained this very well and thanks again!
Would be interested to see if a Fairlight console could be used to provide physical controls for the audio mixer in this Atem.
Nice review, I didn’t know you had another channel ! Subscribed :)
Me neither. What happened to the other one? does any body know?
Would have loved to see a clip player and a replay solution.
Glad to see they have added mix minus in this one, going to test this out tomorrow
Where did you get that idea that it has Mix Minus? i would like to know if it is so. Please advise. Tks
I've tested the Mix-Minus and it is available thru the auxiliary output. Manual covers it on page 51.
Thanks for the - as always - great Video!
Maybe I got U wrong at one point - or You got one thing wrong:
To utilize the HDMI-Out on the Camera for a Confidence-Monitor, you sacrifice neither camera-control nor the Program-Return for the Camera-Operator:
The converter sends TWO Videos back to the camera. The first takes PGM & Camera-control, the second one can be used for anything You like with no sacrifices :)
Ah you are correct. My fault. There are 2 camera returns on the studio converter so you can do program and confidence monitor returns at the same time. I had missed that earlier. Thank you!
Very nice video. Thank you. Please note that the Atem Mini (extreme) has 4 audio channels input and this new Television Studio HD has 2. (2 xlr versus 2x STEREO mini-jacks). EDIT: sorry my mistake: I forgot about the RCA inputs. 2 xlr + 2 rca is 4 audio channels input. I did already think it was strange to have only 2 because I think the inside hardware is probably a lot the same components as the Atem extreme. Audio is a nice attempt but in reality not usable without an external mixer. If one uses a videomixer like this then most likely there are multiple microphones and external sound sources that need handling and routing (maybe also to PA). I LOVE the looks and T-bar but I still think the Mini Extreme is more compatible with real life on the road situations right because you need extra external equipment anyway. For example I need more network ports and my mobile setup has a router with 8 ports. I need way more audio handling so an extra audio mixer (with better analog to digital ) remains needed. One still needs the software and frankly I think handling the audio through the soft audio interface is easier then the combining functions knobs on the television studio. Funny you say that you think this machine is better for a studio surrounding because I think Black Magic aim is getting it mobile. Build everything in one peace of hardware is the opposite of Studio setup I would say. I have only one critical remark on the video :) Please do not say of yourself that you can be super critical while being an American. The rest of the world will laugh at you for that. You can't and you have no idea. It is not your fault. American people simply have it in their culture to feel extreme pain when they say negatives about products. I learned that when reviewing a product in my European culture, one has to come up with balance. Meaning 5 negatives (without talking them positive while you are at it) vs 5 positive points is a balanced review. Americans normally freak with such a balance :)
Intrigued by the Unity Comms - app on the phone system 😊
When I saw the notification about new announcements, I had my fingers crossed for mix-minus. Great device but I sure hope they can add that by firmware.
BM EXTREME MIX MINUS PRO $4,500.. BM just keep missing the bus…
28:20 I only ever used the Tbar for National Anthem or a musical performance of some kind.
This is by far THE BEST review of today's BMD updates
If you allow me one question please. In the min 8, more or less, you said a board like the Rodecaster Pro could be needed for the mix minus thing. The television studio has no 1/4 inputs; just outputs
In your opinion the best way to connect the RCP would be using 1/4 to XLR cables?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English: I'm still learning
Have a Productive and Healthy Day!
If you have an external audio mixer, such as a Rodecaster or a more advanced mixer such as Yamaha, Allen&Heath, Soundcraft, etc. you will have to use whatever appropriate cable exists to feed the audio from that mixer to an Atem switcher's audio inputs.
I disagree with this video regarding dropping the need for a dedicated audio mixer. While having "everything" in one device is great and multiple users handling things via software, having a dedicated hardware panel mixer will still prove more useful. Physical faders and gain controls, multiple ways of routing audio, multiple audio buses, etc.
Need to know more info about REFERENCE in - and how it connects to genlock cameras and if we really need it 😂
There is no any headphone 3,5mm output to monitor the broadcast audio? only 5 Pin talkback but that headset costs like 500 to get only the audio monitoring function?
I use a FTP FILEZILLA to do that on my ATEM MINI
Not necessarily a killer of the Atem Extreme SDI ISO.
The Extreme SDI ISO is priced around half of the HD8, and less than half of the HD8 ISO. Depends on the needs of the user. I have a 2M/E Constellation and it's working great. There are times I did wish it had ISO recording capabilities... but that doesn't mean I will get the HD8/HD8 ISO. The 2M/E constellation is better suited for my requirements than the HD8 and if I need to record ISO, I can do that in camera or connect a few hyperdeck (or similar)/Atomos Shogun 7 recorders.
Even though its more designed for studio-based use, will it be able to be controlled like the extreme, via companion and a stream deck with transition macros.
Absolutely! Works just the same way.
@@liveproductionmastery Many thanks for your reply.
I was about to pull the trigger on an Extreme ISO and the new Studio HD dropped. My use is 60% solo and 40% two person production. I'm really looking to level up streams, I know the new Studio would be overkill.
Just trying to balance up if it's something that gives a heap growth.
Many thanks for your insight
What is “POE”
Is there a SuperSource?
The specs mention supersource.
Yes! And DVE so the macro pack will work on this
Cant they do mixer with mixed inputs- outputs, sdi and hdmi ? Nope ..but Roland can :)
They did have mixed HDMI/SDI mixer in the older TV studio HD model. Now the majority of HDMI mixers from BM are in the Atem Mini line. HDMI is a consumer standard, those who use advanced mixers like these use SDI or better.
@@ALwinDigital yet Barco s3 and e2 series (10x the price for shows 10x the required reliability) heavily use HDMI as the majority of the graphics are fed from operations desk next to the vision mixer.
@@ALwinDigital That is true, but it never helps to have more options, because clients come up with the weirdest and last minute request all the time. It's good to always be ready to cater to the HDM or/and SDI Input requests onsite. All of us can certainly relate
