Your comment always catches me.
it has, in fact, caught me
Manly soul
Yes , and remember the fish have feelings too
this was indeed coment bait
I feel like everyone else missed how the second chained diver was empty, and how the giant eel angler monster had glowing eyes... That's why it was so dramatic when you sucked it's soul out. It was another of your kind.
oh... woah
That explains why you can't posses the monster!
yes.
ooooh dang I didn't notice that
Shouldn’t of tried eating us then I wouldn’t have felt bad
I've never been so disappointed to find something was a demo. Wow! Oddworld, Ecco, Rain World, all games/aesthetics I adore. And the added aspect of "are we the bad guy?" is great. I love how our arms dangle uselessly.
rain world design is just superb
I always am surprised when someone mentions Ecco. I always thought it was quite an obscure game and for the longest time thought I had imagined playing it as a kid. so manly and random people mentioning it is weird but nice. But yeah felt disappointed too that this was just a demo. Solid demo though.
@@siduxjxhdgzhdjxhxuuxxyhgg1079 it's too superb I had it for 2 years bow and still cant beat it
It’s been a very long time since I’ve heard of rain world, I loved the game, it was a hidden gem I found so suddenly and I don’t regret it one bit.
@@dianawilliam6320 its all about the rock throwing
I like to think the huge leviathan whom you were inside of died and that is where you, the diver, awaken the chance to escape.
I wonder how he got chained up though, I was thinking he was possessing the giant leviathan but couldn't be possible
or OR the giant leviathan is just a machine (notice alll the mechanical stuff inside of it?) and we are a little remnant of it, trying to gain control.
@@thisismywill Maybe something chained them inside of the leviathan as a punishment for a sin they committed.
@@Trakesh Yeah but how would that benefit the leviathan. I think the only value the diver could give it is sentience. Maybe it was chained by something specifically to operate the leviathan but the leviathan controlling the human is like a driver for a monster truck controlling a remote control car inside
@@pastel-leech3778 maybe they locked away the diver for fear of his dark powers of possession, but he was crafty enough to escape
I absolutely love the concept and the artstyle of this game.
It reminds me of Limbo, only it's now taking place underwater.
There was another older game with this concept. It's called Avenging Spirit, an arcade style game.
If you like *Limbo* then you might like another game called *Inside* they're both made by the same developer and are offered together in a bundle on PlayStation Store right now for $27.99, if you have a PS4?
@@SovereignSage I got it for pc from a steam sale. Both are fantastic games, full of atmosphere and intriguing visuals.
@@SirPembertonS.Crevalius Agreed lol
Reminds me of They Breathe too
I just realized: you couldn't possess the worms because they lacked eyes.
what about the huge Dragonfish by the end?
maybe the diver can’t possess things stronger than them or something?
@who_cares Although you couldn’t possess it, it seemed like the diver did absorb some kind of power from the Dragonfish and did so through its eye.
@@weirdtyrant6274 well either they take power from them or they need to first weaken a strong creature maybe the Huge fish at the end is to strong to control at full strenght yes i now @who cares said that before me but still wanted to say that
Eyes ARE the window to the soul.
Did anyone notice that no creature eyes glowed except last dragonfish there was a diver body too maybe it had already possessed dragonfish
2D logic: "Oh darn a single solid line is blocking the way!"
3D: "We could just go around that.."
Yeah
also 3D: shit an empty barrel is blocking the hallway, guess I'll have to find another way

Manly is having fun being fish biting everything.
I think the fish that appeared are:
-The small fish: *Marine Hatchetfish*
-Do I really need to explain the *hammerhead*-looking-ones???
-The worms: *Bobbit worms*
-The giant angler-looking-fish: *Dragonfish*
The giant fish looked more like a lizardfish to me, but definitely rockin designs.
I thought that the choppy fish were piranhas...
@@maledictionwolf i dont think piranha live on the sea? from what i remember tho
@@izuvincee8495 yeah, I think they're in the Amazon river? But they could still be in the game, depending on the developer

So glad I’m not the only one that remembers They Breathe
@@sprire2840 I loved that game!!
Omg, i don't even know that game :'(
OH GOD NO! NOT THAT GAME AGAIN!
@@jestfullgremblim8002 i think the frog one where he goes under water to save frogs and fight some mutated cows
Ah, the twist ending... It was a demo all along...
Manly struggling, and succeeding, to eat a little fish with a bigger fish is all I could've wanted out of today
This reminds me of the frog one where it is also under water, but you swim down into the dark depths.
You mean "They Breathe"?
@@NyupeBRF yeah, that one! 👏
A strong demo. The art style works well, the gameplay offers hood potential for puzzles, and I'm intrigued by the story. I suspect Manly is right us playing as the real threat, you were locked down there for a reason.
"Hood potential"
Looks like whoever locked the player down there didnt do a very good job seeing just one chain was holding them down
The story gives me furi vibes
@@unixerse297 i mean, this is a 2D game. There were a few parts of the game where there was a chain in your path and you just couldn't go around it. Maybe if it was 3D there would be more than just one chain
@@unixerse297 Even if it was one chain, they didn’t do a very good job WITH the chain itself. It’s like a rope (I assume they are the lines piranhas or whatever they are can break), easily breakable, but not by you.
I wonder if the diver himself is actually being possessed since he has the same glow as the fish when possessed. Just a thought.
How about the last fish?
It had it's own glow, nearby was a body without a glow.
He destroyed the body then ripped the glow from the fish and absorbed it.
My money is more like Highlander.
They are something like demi-gods or demi-energy beings. But their power is tied to their bodies.
Destroy the body, destroy their bond, and you can take their power.
that's what i was thinking, the light extended from the big fish to the diver and not the other way around as usual
If that were the case, you probably wouldn't be tied to the diver (as in you'd be able to hop from fish to fish, leaving the diver behind).
@@ZM1306 the last fish( dragonfish ) had a glowing eye which unpossessed creatures dont have unless they are possessed, the diver we see that was underground near the dragonfish's lair was empty and was missing light, there was also a hammerhead guarding it and it only attacked the diver who the player controlled. meaning its likely the second diver we see already possessed the dragonfish but got defeated by the diver/player we control. its possible that us(the player controlling the diver ) could become the new holder of the dragonfishes soul until another diver comes in to defeat us and repeat the cycle all over again.
one defeats the dragon fish
one claims the soul of the dragon fish
one becomes the dragon fish
another escapes the leviathan
another follows the light
another defeats the dragon fish.
@@user-vj7jo7xy8y
My point is I think the soul in the dragon fish is the soul of the other diver.
So you don't kill the dragon fish and take its soul, you kill the diver's body... Severing his bond, then kill the fish/diver and take his soul from the fish.
Like highlander, those with power kill and take power from others to get stronger.
Oh I saw the developer on r/indiegames there, the game looks really good! Maybe I should give it a go too.
Edit: ended up talking to the creator on the subreddit, great person told them I’d buy their game for sure, really friendly.
Alright im sold im loving this game's aesthetic
This gives both Inside and Little Nightmares vibes and I really like it, it's both visually interesting and has an exciting story behind it im sure, looking forward to u playing the full game < 3
How did you forget the game made by the same devs of Inside;Limbo?
@@arcticguy3455 they were just using inside as the example, what’s wrong with that?
@@cooper9099 Nothing I was just saying that Inside was made by the devs of Limbo which looks way more alike. I did not mean for it to come off as passive-aggressive

*Me:* How can fish fall for bait? It's so obvious when something is trying to capture you!
*Me, at **8:20**:* Oooooh shiny!
I don't blame you, its light was pretty
We have curiosity, but most fishes just gobble up anything they see fit in their mouth.
And that, my friends, is how you catch a human: shinies
@@starlight_studios8784 you can also probably catch crows like this
@@binarycode404 oooooo, i should try this with the crows around my house
What a fascinating Game. This ocean of biomechanical sea creatures is really beautifull, and it all seems Like an Environment that was once built by intelligent Life, but has since gone wild, but never managed to abandon it's metallic roots, instead adapting to them. I really Love it.
3:55 its moments like these that makes Manly's Lets Plays more enjoyable because it makes you realise that the person playing the game isn't just glossing over details and just trying to get it over and done with, but rather actually pay attention to the game and its qualities through game mechanics which i find it pretty neat
I want to take a moment to point out I like how you've been able to establish that for your particular brand of play, you don't have to talk every moment. I mean, even letting the intros play out and build suspense instead of talking as the games loading to "keep the audiences' attention" is a nice touch!
Manlys commentary during this playthrough was really cute. Like when he started panicking when that piranha fish chased him.
That anglerfish looked so smug when it chomped down haha
Whenever Manly posts he gives a menacing aura and makes me wanna watch till the end.
Seems like a _pleasant and relaxing_ game to watch right before bed. 🙂
Lol
Ah yes, how calming! I definitely will not have nightmares after watching this! (Or thalassophobia, either!)
The abyssal darkness and silent emptiness of the ocean is the perfect natural atmosphere in which to set a horror game, and this particular title utilizes the monochromatic gloam and gargantuan, monstrous creatures of the depths to its advantage. I especially appreciate how the interior of the large fish in which the game begins is decorated with a veiny, pulsating, almost Giger-like mesh of organic and mechanical parts, in contrast with the flora of the exterior ocean in the latter half of the demo. Additionally, I found it interesting how the creatures are deemed “Goliaths” by the game, which was a giant associated with the forehead, and you possess them through accessing their souls through their heads and eyes. It’s also an apt descriptor considering how much larger some of these monsters are than your diver character. For a demo, this game is rather effective at establishing its gameplay mechanics and implying certain story elements and lore which have yet to be answered or explained, such as why the protagonist was chained instead of a fish, why you have the power to possess certain creatures, and what happens when you absorbed the soul of the angler-like fish at the end. It’s compelling, to say the least, and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing how interpretive this narrative becomes upon the game’s final release.
Also, I should mention, I finally joined your Patreon! I’m probably going to be sending you a short message sometime soon(well, short by my standards), so be on the look-out for it!
NOOOO! NOW I GOT TO READ ALL OF THAT
@@jestfullgremblim8002 TL;DR (Too Long, Didn’t Read): The silent, dark, and empty ocean is perfect for this game, which title uses big creatures of the depths to it’s advantage. I like how the interior of the start-of-game fish your inside is a mesh of organic and mechanical parts. Also, its interesting how creatures are called “Goliaths” by the game, which is a giant associated with the forehead, and you possess them using their heads and eyes. Also an apt descriptor because of how much bigger some monsters are than the diver. For a demo, it establishes gameplay mechanics and implying some story elements well, like how the diver is chained, and not a fish.
This is at the very least slightly shorter, but I tried.
I severely overestimated the length of this comment.
6:37 Can't believe you referenced that game. I hated and loved it so much on the Genesis. It was hard, but it was really fun, but I ended up cheating when I got older just to beat the 3rd game I think it was with the alien queen
Ah yes, the best thing to watch at 3:00 AM
Yep
5pm in japan lmao
This game reminds me of Limbo and it made me so happy and sad (in a happy nostaglia way!) I will definitely look forward to this one coming out!
the artstyle is amazing, and the whole possession thing reminds me of this flash game platformer i used to play from nitrome about an alien that kept possessing stuff trying to take over the world
Omg yes! It was called Parasyte i believe. Nitrome was freakin awesome
@@sandorrclegane2307 yesss this! omg it's been a while

I love the type of games when you are the threat, especially when you are powerful! Such a nice change~
The art style on this game Is everything like it literally give us this unsettling but calming feeling like we are literally on the very depths of the ocean, like I'm literally gonna wait for the full version to come out. Like five stars game.
It was so short but so gripping! I got invested right away! Gonna keep an eye on this one for sure.
When the entire game is one big water level. 😱 So many gamers' worst fear.
At least it doesn’t have a breath meter and a horrible BEEP BEEP BEEP if you start running out of air. THAT’S what I hate about water levels.

If anyone wants a decent underwater metroidvania, then 'Song of the Deep' is a fun one.
Not horror, but if you're sqeamish about the sea there's at least one good spine chilling moment in there.
Can't wait to see you play this full game! So pretty. I hope they add some ominous ost in the background (:
We need more sea horror games shits scary in real life already
Oh I love angler fish (every sea creature is cute ok) and possession mechanics! Had a lot of fun with that in BO2 lol Can't wait for the full game to come out~
I was so ready for the rest of the game. Haha. Pretty cool how you absorbed your dead diver chum as you were almost made chum.
this game has big potential I really hope the devs continue it!
I saw black and white graphics with an under water horror theme. It was physically impossible for me not to click. Imma grab some popcorn. :)
I'd pay so much money for the full release. It's my ideal aesthetic and atmosphere for a game
This game mechanics actually is the same as another arcade game called "Avenging Spirit" for anyone who is curious about it.
I used to watch you a while back and I've just recently found you again, you're definitely one of the most fun people to watch, idk if it's the calm low tone but it's fun to sit back and watch you play different games I can't play
This looks REALLY well made! I love the mechanics, story, and design. Looking forward to the full release
Like a dark version of Aquaria, can't wait to see where the creators go with this.

Hey Manly, thank you for uploading another video!
The day you stop making videos is the day that true horror comes, But we all know that would never happen! 😊
this is a very nice horror game concept tbh
Dude I love water horror
This is like Limbo crossed with ABZU
I am CHOMPING AT THE BIT for more of this!
Yayy! So glad you played the demo! I've been following this game for a while now. 😙
Pretty neat game, I like how the main character doesn't actually have a personality it's just a scary weird thing, all games should have that in my opinion
I'm only 3 minutes in, but I gotta already say that I love the look and concept for this. Possession is one of my favorite powers and video games don't use it enough. And an underwater setting? Amazing!
Glad you shared this! I wishlisted it right after the video ended. =)
oooooh this is a REALLY cool concent and i cant wait to see more of it
Yo ngl i unironically have this diving suit dude as one of my favorite video game characters now. This was a short and sweet game and i didn't learn much about them but idk i think they're neat :))
edit: oh shit that was just a demo?? hell yeah cant wait to see the full game :D
After all this time... Is this where Manly's soul is?
Looks really really cool, and the concept is very interesting. The animals look organic, yet they also have a lot of artificial elements about them, that huge creature you were inside of had mechanical parts inside, and the big fish that tries to eat you has a big bulb for an eye and a shutter type eyelid... there's definitely more to this and it seems pretty interesting!
I'm here every night to see the new upload, thank you Manly!
I played this demo at 1 am yesterday, it was so fun.
Great video, keep up the great work, and have a great day man!!

I am so happy to hear this was just a demo. It’s already done a spectacular job and captivating a ton of us down here in the comments, and I’m excited to see where they take it from here.
This game has such a cool feel to it. The sounds, the style, the gameplay, everything just feels right is that makes sense.
Now this is a pretty neat looking game and all, but I never knew how much I needed a ManlyBadassHero playthrough of Rain World until now
I love the aesthetic of this game. I get a Carrion vibe from it with the side scrolling and puzzles and the semi-villainous protagonist. More games need to dabble in the realm of the player being the bad guy. It’s an interesting take on stories

The sea is a gorgeous as it is frightening, as a horror lover and someone born near the coast, I've been taught to respect it, love but never underestimate it. Nature is ruthless, and I feel like the sea is the biggest proof of it.
So any and all horror sea games always scratch the same itch looking at the inky sea during a stormy night. Very rambly, but I loved the game and video, can't wait for the game to be fully released!
