I'm excited Neil is so invested in 3D printing and making.
Nice to see that a Hollywood star is invested in 3d printing and wants to collaborate with someone from CZcams who doesn't have a gazillion subs.
gazillion is not an actual number tho
@@TommiHonkonen It's an idea..."a large number that somebody can't be bothered to look up, or doesn't have a precise value."
@@jjpaq Exactly. 1 is a number. Gazillion is not a number
@@TommiHonkonen it's not an animal or a flavour either. It's just a word he happened to use...what was the point you were going for? Can only precise numbers be used when referring to somebody's social media following?
@@jjpaq it's a joke
Very cool. His reaction was great. Those models were so well done.
Neil is a great guy and always super encouraging. His interest in Haunted Mansion and 3D printing was how we connected as well. Love that you were able to work with him on this project!
What IS Haunted Mansion?
@@matbroomfield Disney's Haunted Mansion (ride at Disneyland and Disney World)
@@russellalbright7922 Ah right. Thank you.
I couldn't stop smiling at Neal's reaction. Awesome!
NPH seems like thr kind of friend we all need. Such a genuine and amazing guy.
Those models are incredible too!
I didn't like how Joel was getting resin everywhere with his gloves. It's best to leave the prints on the print bed and washing the parts, then take them off the print bed and clean them up. It reduces the amount of uncured resin you need to handle.
Seriously. Watching him touch everything with "hot" gloves was giving me anxiety.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to see this. He touched every handle, the bust bases, all his tools with full on globs of resin everywhere. Straight up anxiety inducing. The whole point of putting the build plate straight into the wash and clean station is to avoid that amount of resin getting all over the place.
Yay more NPH content! So much fun.
Showing my age here but being able to meet Doogie Howser is pretty cool.
The busts looked great. Just oneminor thing that bugged me is the bit of blue showing on the stand of the first one.
Good job, and decent humble brag ‘My friend Neil’ lol
wow :) I am so excited for the designer. Being able to make something and see their reaction and enjoyment is such a fun thing.
Thanks....it's always nice to see anyone enjoying something I have made.
Boy howdy that this is FAST! Love how genuine Neil is when he sees the models :) Parts came out great Joel!
the 'pan' for the cleaner looks a lot like a 1/4 insert for a restraint prep station, if that is so you can get them from nearly ANY restaurant supply store... P.S. Sorry! too many years building models and painting cars, boats, and ships.... much, much further away from the thing you are painting, and LOTS, LESS paint on things, just DRIFT it onto the object (which will both give you a better paint finish, AND get it dry faster). P.S.S. What would happen if you put the thing being painted (coated VERY lightly in paint) on the finish station plate (if the UV would make it dry faster?
Just placed my order for an SL1S this morning. I cannot wait to get my hands on this thing!!!
NPH is, like Adam Savage, the Nerd's BFF. You can absolutely engage either of them in nerding out on so many topics!
Wow what a fantastic episode. Well done
it must be super weird to say "my friend Neil" and it be Neil Patrick Harris
So the Prusa line of resin printers bypass the Chitubox closed sources issue? Yaaaaay!
Wait, what... the bundle will set me back $2600 USD??? And that's before all the resins and wash costs? And the lead time for getting one is sometime next year? Oh... nevermind.
So cool!!!! I'd love to see a follow up video of the other models Neil wants making
Oh that’ll happen
Nice story man. I wish Prusa would make something that prints big enough objects so i can buy their machine. Been waiting for their corexy printer but man they sure taking their time.
Neil is so charming and courteous. Can you imagine if you'd flown all that way and Neil said he hated them?
Removing supports before washing is a great way to get uncured resin splatters everywhere.
Before or After?
I think Dr. Horrible would approve.
VERY nice of Mr. Harris to let you film the presentation! And when Neil asks...
This is wicked cool Joel! Just a little tip from a newbie, I would avoid the toothbrush, unless its super soft and not made of fibers and made more of silicon, it will scratch the model if not cured fully. Excellent video sir, thanks for sharing!
NPH is awesome. He was hilarious in Bourbon Moth Woodworking's video a few months back.
Absolutely amazing!!!
For the four busts you guys should do them as impressions or negatives so the eyes/faces follow you like at the disney haunted mansion.
Great vid Joel
Looks fantastic!
As a comparison, how long would this print take on the standard prusa resin printer?
This is so cool
This is so cool! What a great gift for him and his sweet family! I want to have some historical busts printed but I'm afraid to Google it 😅🤣 I do not want to get flashed 🙈 Thanks for this fun video! 😊
Thank YOU for watching!
I met NPH when he was the head of the Magic Castle a few years ago. Super nice guy and fun to chat with. Glad you are working with him on stuff. He is such a mutli-talented guy. Joel, did he perform any magic routines for you?
High-5!
Not this trip, we were super short on time. However, maybe next time :)
Much props to Bugman_140 for the great models.
joel, does prusa sl1s comparable with this generation high-speed printers, like anycubic m5s
Great job on another great vid and thanks sean love ya
I might have some haunted mansion inspired ears on my PrusaPrinters profile 😜 you know, mouse ears lol
Prusa really wanted us to know it's fast. I think we understood. Why make Joel repeat himself.
Right? haha, I was like "say S is for speed ONE MORE TIME"
The S is for SPEED
@@3DPrintingNerd 🤣🤣
Why did the base of the bust change from 08:37 to 09:09 ? The first one looked much better all painted up.
I thought the same too, why are the bases not painted? :) Weird
what is a good uv power % for the mono x for translucent resin?
So I’m looking in to getting a 3D printer and was trying to figure out what low cost laptop I should get that will work with cura? Any suggestions?
Minimum system requirements
OpenGL 2 compatible graphics card, OpenGL 4.1 for 3D layer view.
Display resolution 1024 x 768.
Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64.
550 MB available hard disk space.
4GB RAM memory.
Can you tell me about the soft or flexible pla is it worth it the money
COOL Speed!
What does the S stand for? I didn't quite catch it. :P
hey you released this on my dads birthday, very cool
Happy birthday to your dad!
Why the stand not painted completely
I need to get me one those machines
Barny the beat man
"What this Crypto Rig... I just use it to warm up the ol' garage"
what does the S stand for again?
The wash stations need voice activation or at least Android compatibility so you can wash parts without having to use the touch screen with wet hands
There was far too much paint on there, use an airbrush!
Why did the bases not get painted properly?
These were just tests pieces and I took just a few seconds to paint.
I would have painted those models for Neil :) very nice tho
What stands the S in SL1S for?! Could have explained this a bit more....
Coooooool !💎💎🤘🤘🤘🤘
Anyone have the name or link for the orange silicon mat that he used???
It’s from WhamBam and called a SlapMat!
@@3DPrintingNerd thanks 😊

Idea for production: new electric cars have very flat displays an may reflekt sun in your Face , They need eyebrows - lasermeashure and print stick on back of screen Get shade 😎

Will there be a full review? This war more like a preview, no?
This was a preview - yes. I still have A LOT of printing to do on it.
@@3DPrintingNerd Cant wait to see it. My SL1S machine is on its way. Will take 4 more Weeks.
What does the "S" stand for again? I forgot.

YOURE FRIENDS WITH NPH!!!!
Nice
What is the S for in SL1S?
Small and Superexpensive..
Whyyyy did you leave the base unpainted?????
These were just tests to see if Neil liked them. When we go bigger the bases will be painted :)
I wonder what the 'S' stands for
Nice mining rig, what ya mining? ETH?
Yeah, it’s a small RX470/RX480 rig at roughly 180Mh. Not too shabby. Pays for my morning coffee :)
Valeu!
What is the S for?

"my gpu mining rig lol just use it to heat the garage" Such a subtle flex ;;))
I really love the design and how it came out of that resin printer, BUT that paint job was soo bad :( specialy when it was a gift.... I should rather kept it original... Or print the base black or grey straight away.
Yo! still learning, my dude. Give me some tips from your personal painting experience. What should I do different? Have any go-to skill building videos to watch?
@@3DPrintingNerd No, I do not know how to paint properly :D But my OCD was screaming "noo, please, finish painting the whole base, please....or if not, just let it be unpainted..." Nothing personal :)
make them look like their cast in bronz
I can’t be the only person who thought Markiplier was on the thumbnail.
Next is a chess set...
I just can't get past the price. I don't see the price being worth bump in speed.
Maybe not for a home user, but... it's 3x faster or so! That's a huge deal for prototyping and companies. Taking models that need 10 hours to about 3. Add support to that and yeah, not too expensive at all anymore, especially for companies.
I am not so sure that it really has a speed increase. There are plenty of resin printers that claim to be 3x faster. But 3x faster than what? Is it any faster than a Anycubic Photon for far less money, 4k screen, bigger print volume, etc? Nope, it's actually slower.
@@shvrdavid For the same volume, it’s faster. Ofcourse you can fit more on a bigger plate..
If you read the specs on both machines, the Photon is faster in every way. I would love to see a side by side of both printers. They both make the claim of being 3x faster than others. Both claim just over a second per layer, with a max of 2, etc. $2k is a lot to spend on a claim that the Prusa is going to be 3x faster than a Photon... 3x faster than a Photon would print approx. 180mm height an hour, at any volume...
@@shvrdavid totally agree, I do like Prusa's build quality. As a business owner that does prototyping I would rather have 4 machines that are slightly less fast having multiple iterations going for evaluation than a single one. As a business owner the only thing that grabs my attention is the claimed longevity of the screen life.
Amazing!
I thought Neil was tall, not next to you!
Is it just me, or is NPH starting to look like Cornholio?
Just contaminates everything with resin lol.
I try to wear my resin gloves for 48 hours in a row for full effect

I feel the NEED..... the Need to PEE........Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Looks great. You still use wayyyyyyyyy Too much paint.
What does the S stand for?😉
Hi
2000$ price tag tells me to buy 7 mars 3 ultra's and do better at time management :) no way in any reality is that worth 2,000$ Lol your in the price range of what i paid for my CNC and it has a work area of 32.125" x 32.125" onefinitycnc models was very nice though.
You need to earn to airbrush!
You are a star, be more careful breathing any chemical fumes, as a senior maker I see your glassy eyes over time, make a point of not breathing any possible toxins by using vents and carbon filters.
I would recommend not priming your fingernails together with prints, even if it seems like it might save you time.
😅😂 good tip :)
Come on 3d printing Nerd inform comunity of the real news you know what it is.
Speed? Voron...
Dear Joel, please create you’re own 3D printer!?
So little detail in these models, too low res model and too much paint :(
Can you show me a better method of painting? Do you have any videos on that? I’m super new to that and want to learn more.
@7:59 - eww, gross.
