  • How Businesses use Psychology in order to trick you. The 10 Ways BUSINESSES Use PSYCHOLOGY to TRICK YOU: How To Sell Anything.
    I want you to think about the last 10 purchases you have made. Did you order some household items online? Did you go to a store and buy some clothes? How about stopping by a gas station to fill up your car? Did you stop to get some fast food along the way?
    Whether you know it or not, nearly every purchase you have ever made in your life is influenced by psychological and other environmental factors that you may not be aware of. And in this video, we will uncover every single trick that is used, in order to get you to buy a product or service.
    Ever since the dawn of commerce 150 000 years ago, humans have been making exchanges for goods and services. Initially, transactions were based on a barter system, where individuals would trade goods and services for other goods and services.
    As Civilization grew, so did the evolution of commerce and trading. In 2700 BCE, Ancient Egyptians were trading livestock on levels that were unparalleled to the rest of the world. And as the trading of livestock in ancient egypt grew, so did the frequency of stolen livestock.
    That’s when the Egyptians came up with a way to differentiate one persons livestock from another, and identify if someone stole their goods. The egyptians began branding their livestock with unique symbols in order for their goods to stand out amongst all other similar goods.
    And this was the birth of branding, the first psychological trick that businesses still use today, in order to get you to buy their product.
    Why is nike worth $124 billion today? Is it because they make the highest quality shoes? Probably not. I mean, Zion Williamson might agree with that. Is it because they are cheaper or more comfortable than the other shoes on the market? That’s probably not the case either. What makes Nike worth $128 Billion dollars, is its branding. And this could be applied to most other clothing or shoe brands in world too.
    When you buy a pair of nike’s, you are mainly buying it for the design of the shoe, the swoosh on the side, and the meaning behind the swoosh. These are truly the only unique identifiers of the shoe, and these are also known as the nike brand. You see, when people think of nike, they think Michael Jordan and basketball, Tiger Woods and Golf, Roger Federer and Tennis, Ronaldo and Soccer… or pretty much any NFL athlete. That’s because ever since the customer was a kid, they have seen tons of nike advertisements with these athletes and seen them on TV wearing the Nike Brand.
    This makes the Nike brand linked hand and hand with well-known world-class athletes, in the minds of the public.
    So when a young adult goes to buy a pair of new athletic shoes, they will want to try on the ones with the world-class athlete that they know and admire, first. Because they want to be like them, they want to feel a deeper connection to their shoes. They want to feel apart of something that is bigger than themselves. They want to be apart of the nike brand… And this is why branding is so important.
    Branding is a unique psychological trick that creates a lasting impression in the minds of all of its customers.
    But not all purchases rely on branding. And their is actually a larger psychological factor, in determining whether a person will be a lifelong customer from a business or not.
    I mean, when you go buy some groceries, do you really care about the branding of 90% of what you buy? Yet, you probably buy the same brands over and over again.
    So, why do customers stick to some brands, even they don’t have a known message like Nike.
    Lets take an example of 3 different unknown chocolate brands. You decide to purchase 1 box of chocolates from one of these brands… at random for $20. You go home, and decide to share some of these chocolates with your new girlfriend or boyfriend. You both enjoy the chocolates and have a great night together.
    This simple act will likely make you a customer for life with this one chocolate brand. That is because your brain will now associate these chocolates with a positive experience you had with your partner...

      It's okay, doesn't take from the fact that this video was very informative!

    • @SUNSPYtm
      @SUNSPYtm Před 4 lety

      Maybe you meant to say been a LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR, which you have been A LOYAL SUBSCRIBER TO ? since that was the trojan horse of the iPhone, locking you in to the App Store and so on.. assuming this is what you are going to talk about as I continue watching.. very clever and works so well but my advice to everyone is always look at situations first in this way.. this product is purely self motivated, what might bite me in the ass if I ignore this...
      VERY few corporations exist that are not motivated entirely by profits, most of which goes to the executive level of course.. even fewer are at all on the other end of the scale, all about giving not taking. My favourite example is Valve Software, who have a stark contrast in their business model and how employees are urged to use their time to simply create the most value they can for customers - freely moving between projects as they see fit, to best use their skills. The result is a privately owned corporation which probably (no profit reports to read) has enough money to build a ladder to the moon. Just the Steam Community Market tax they rake in on sales of virtual items (even a % of OTHER games not their own) is absolutely mindblowing.
      Yes, deep down some of it is they are a business they need to profit but the overall sentiment is really a contrast to normal human behaviour and the many upsides to so many others should serve as a guide to how to help yourself - help others.. the more we cooperate the more we create value and not waste resources, the more we give customers what they want and aim to have as close to perfect a product or service; FOR THEM, the more it actually helps US in the long run. This is the big lesson of life, its not actually about yourself we are all the same connected beings just trying to become better. Its a tough game and evolution is a slow process but there are constant opportunities in life to make less selfish choices and the more you do, the more happiness comes and the more the giving trend will continue.. the trick is to really want to be nice, not ACT nice. Politeness for example is just acting and discounts and so on are just to increase sales for whatever reason that quarter. If you can see any of this type of behaviour in yourself and dont like it, you're doing well and you can make huge positive changes come from very small changes in mindset

    re-reminded of these strategies makes my mind roll with enthusiasm and hope, that I, and millions of others, will make it and succeed despite the "sky is falling", fearful people who have shut business' and an economy down. Tomorrow is a new day! Thank you!

    I want to know how frozen vegetables are healthier than fresh vegetables. Please do a video elaborating on that.

    • @nvmffs
      @nvmffs Před 2 lety +2

      @Tree-80 That's very contentious. Dried vegetables lose a lot of vitamin A and C due to the exposure to heat and air so it's really a trade-off compared to frozen foods.
      Frozen vegetables are not healthier than fresh vegetables. Let's be clear here. Even if what he really meant was what you described in your comment, that's still not true in my opionion. Few reasons why:
      1) Freezing requires heat exposure (blanching) first which destroys some of the vitamins.
      2) The process of thawing leads to some nutrient loss as well.
      3) Тhe effect of ice crystals damaging cells during freezing soft vegetables can lead to the vegetable turning to a mush and then water soluble vitamins and minerals leaking out.
      4) "It’s often picked way before it’s ripe, then ripened on it’s way to me." - I don't think that pertains to vegetables. You're probably thinking of fruits? I haven't seen anyone harvesting onions or potatoes before they're ripe for example.

    There is a huge difference between organic and conventional food. Conventional food is sprayed with a poison called glyphosate (Round Up). Also conventional food is more and more grown from genetically modified seeds. Some of the top GMO crops are corn, soybeans, cotton, potatoes, papaya, squash, canola and alfalfa, sugar beets and apples. I'll take the organic every time over the poisoned frankenfoods.

    • @dmlc69
      @dmlc69 Před 4 lety +1

      I think you are misinformed. I grew up on a farm that grew food. The "poison" you refer to are chemicals that protect the plant from insects and disease and is one that is used on food crops. (Not one that kills crabgrass in your lawn.)
      Farmers have done this for many decades. It stays on the plant surface, is not absorbed, and is washed off by rainfall. It is used in advance, if needed, prior to harvest and shipment. GMO seeds are simply modified to resist insects/disease, grow stronger. require less water and less fertilizer, withstand adverse weather/growing conditions better, produce higher yields, and come to market a bit sooner. It would seem this helps people around the world rather than hurts them. Of course, washing produce before consumption is necessary - who knows how many hands inspected the apple you are now purchasing. The author of this video is correct, but if you like spending more on a product because the hype told you it's better or more in fashion, by all means, do so.

  • @MariaAngelaGrow
    @MariaAngelaGrow Před 4 lety +9

    You are wrong re: organic foods. For many they may make little difference, but for the last 12 years or so, if I eat regular grains, potatoes, dairy products, then my bowels bleed. Tried it over and over. It may well be that I am allergic to glyphosate, which is used in GMO and on many regular crops. I could barely get through biology because the smell of formaldehyde made me feel very ill. I only made it through that part by watching my partner, taking the notes and letting her do the actual work. Some people are just too internally sensitive to manage regular foods. I do not think it is the fertilizer used, but substances used for pest control to which some may be allergic. Considering my mother and her mother died of colon cancer that spread to the liver, it is worth paying extra and giving up treat foods, especially as I am also deathly allergic to narcotics and would die in great agony if I got this cancer.

      @@lightzpy8049 This is a false-equivalence fallacy, which companies often use. In this example, the video is referring to vegetables fresh from the store, not fresh from the garden. And that is because in many cases the shops take days or even weeks to transport the food from the garden to the store. And in that period of time, the plants can go stale. And since some foods take longer to deliver, it is more likely for the food to be treated before leaving for the store, which in turn makes said food less healthy. In contrast, aside the risks associated with the chemicals used for flash freezing, if that's even how the food is frozen, would make the frozen food less healthy than fresh-from-the-garden food, but healthier than fresh-from-the-store food.

    Branding is what believe leads to overvaluation of subpar quality products that are attached to status cause a psychological evaluation. This allows companies to stagnate in innovation by prioritization of brand value to maximize profit because it's far more cost effective than research and development of original innovating products. Playing it safe is something we have seen from movie genres, cars, tech etc.....

    I like your video and a lot of information, and yes, right on the money. You stated something about organic foods and one of the important things that they are not GMO and also they are not sprayed with ills of chemicals, second organic foods have to go through a process with the soil and so forth. So I feel there is more to organic than regular foods and GMOs that people want to avoid. You mention that frozen foods are healthier than nonfrozen how so? Raw foods are the best and not cook and you do not want to take the vitamins out of the foods. Our whole food industry is not good and one time, we had over so many species of corn and today, hardly none. That is thanks to the evil company of Monsanto who destroy our foods with all these GMOs. Now Bayer has headaches and troubles. Watch king corn, supersize me, food inc. Fast food nation, food matters, forks over knives. and so much more. We blame our society because people are lazy and we have more diets in this country and more obesity than any other nation. Why because of the volume of the way people eat today and what is available to them. Years ago, people did not eat fast food, they cook and today nobody wants to good and the food industry made it so convenient for the consumer to the microwave which is horrible to the human body. Then you want to know why we all have serious aliments and that is just the foods and water and air and so forth. Also we played outside and we did not have cell phone and we exercise and today, nobody exercises. To much computer and cell time. I can write a mini-novel, but I will stop here.

    Still a great video. I would add, however, it states that "smart" phones were around about 10 years before the iPhone (2007). In actuality, the iPhone WAS the first "smart" phone, or at least that's when that term began to be commonly used. Speaking of branding... Droid>iPhone, lol.

    It's true marketing can be very misleading or even downright deceitful--a lot like this video. Who TF would ever say conventional produce is basically the same as organic produce? How uninformed can you possibly be? And to think frozen produce could be in any way better than fresh produce is flabbergasting. I hope this video doesn't get many views because just those statements alone invalidate the credibility of the rest of the video.

      Johan, calm down! Your peach starts its road to rot the moment it's picked. So the question about which is better - frozen or fresh - might rest on when it was frozen versus when you bought it and decided to eat it. Vitamin content? Higher
      when flash-frozen at the pick of the crop?

    • @johanmontoya610

      @@dmlc69umbass...the first question that must be asked about ANY produce is "what was it fed?" This can be answered with organic certification, or lack thereof. Second, food starts to die as soon as you pick it. Food in nature is consumed straight off the plant. The sooner you eat it, the more it has to offer your body. No food in nature is eaten neither frozen nor cooked. Food in nature is always raw, alive and biologically active.
      Hush now, child.
