Gerber is one of those brands that is focused on getting the most out there vs getting a good product out there. They have some great designs but they fall like a sledgehammer when it comes to materials and build quality, especially thier overseas stuff. They do make some decent fixed blades and multi-tools (only the USA made ones) but pocket knives have never been thier strong suit. Hopefully this may be a turning point for them but as past experience has shown the ability to put out a consistent good product is hard for them to do. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

Hey I agree Kole, pretty nice if they keep heading in the right direction. I too have not had a Gerber in over 35 years but I still have the one I bought 35 years ago. The only thing I see with the new model is the edge which can be fixed very easily but hopefully they address that at the factory

That seems awesome! I always enjoy hearing about affordable USA made knives. Great video 👍

They just couldn't help themselves, had to use zip ties. I'm surprised they didn't put a clam shell inside the box.

Everyone's first knife is a Gerber... lol! My first knive was a Gerber paraframe

Yep, and I still have it and use it occasionally. But it's on my nightstand in case I need to cut something while in bed, which is usually just snack packages.

Mine came in a 2 pack with the Para mini for $19.99 at Lowes for black friday...admittedly I am a sucker for cheap knives

@@benmerris1989 Ha! Wanna talk about cheap knives?! I had about 80 gas station/flea market assisted folders plus another 40 or so other cheap ones like the Paraframe. Sold most of them for $5 a piece and 90% of them were never even used or sharpened. Luckily (or maybe unluckily), my tastes have evolved a bit and I don't buy many cheap knives anymore. Still have the Para though. More sentimental value than anything else, but it does get used.✌

I have 2 Gerber knives. One is the little LST, which is great. The other is one I've had longer, but can't identify which model it is. It looks similar to the Paraframe, but isn't. It's all black , 8 inches long overall, and is the most difficult knife ever to get sharp. Any idea how I can tell which model it is?

I bought a Snap On tools version of a Gerber a few months back. Super disappointing, especially for the price @ +$150. The blade was so far off center that it was rubbing the scales and scratching the black finish on the blade before i even cut anything. I tried disassembling to see if there was anything I could do, but there was so much loctite on the body screws that 3 out of 5 screws snapped right off in the scale/liner. I showed & explained it to my Snap On dealer & he sent it out for warranty. It's been 4 months & still nothing. I just wanted to give their US stuff a try, what a joke. Personally, I will not waste my time anymore with Gerber, there are just too many better, cheaper options. Thanks for the video though!

I thought the “Fastball” was so good, I had to buy all 3 variations, black washed, OD green, and grey. Each a great secondary carry! Great little EDCs. Thank you for the great video!!!đŸ”ȘđŸ–€đŸ—Ą

You can customize this on their website with carbon fiber handles and 20cv steel. It’s pretty nice. Gerber has come a long way, in fact they make two knives that are better than this. Check out the sedulo and savvy. I have the savvy and it’s just as good as any benchmade I’ve ever held, but cheaper than the knife it’s trying to compete with (940) with better materials.

Not that Gerber was going to get any of money anytime soon but thanks for the reassurance of that Kole. Grab a Kershaw Dividend in 20CV for $100 if you want USA made

I haven’t bought a Gerber in twenty five years and can’t see myself ever buying one again. There are so many time proven quality knife brands out there, so it’s just not worth taking a chance on a company with history of producing so much crap. I don’t understand why anyone would even consider buying a Gerber.

  • @erict149

I can appreciate that it's USA made, but it's hard to justify $120 for a Gerber when I can get a Kizer or Civivi for well under $100 that I know is going to be done well. Last Gerber I bought was a Sumo and it's a piece of shit. I know it's Chinese and only $40, but my $40 Civivi, Kubey, etc. are FAR better. Gerber has been around a lot longer and should be able to do a better job, even with their Chinese stuff. Makes me not trust their American stuff either.

No Gerber is worth it, unless you get it for free, even at that its probably good for little more than a letter opener.
