Amazing! I wonder if anyone will ever restore my favorite version of the GCC "feature presentation" snipe. It started off with the candy band, then transitioned to a nighttime rendition of LA, revealed via a sweeping shot over the Hollywood hills, complete with a thundering bass note that shook the theater, and ended with the GCC logo appearing out of a cloud of mist. The soundtrack was a non-stop set of variations on the original GCC jazz riff (similar to what this snipe does), ranging from rock to a lush orchestra take. It was glorious.
See FT Depot [FTD-0641], he did it about a year ago.
I am overjoyed at finding these snipers!! Great work and thank you, thank you, thank you!! I worked at GCC's flagship cinema centre in BROCKTON MA circa 1970-1974. Those were some of the happiest years of my life. The feature presentation snipe is a catchy little tune that I've been humming for over fifty years and I've always wondered if I would ever see/hear it again this side of heaven.well you've brought heaven to me! I love this little ditty and would sing it,(hum actually) for my fellow ushers and the candy girls.Yes, that's what we called them in the 70's. I'm going to be biased here but I think, without a doubt, that General Cinema Corporation was the BEST movie exhibition company hands down. I liked everything about it including the architecture of their physical buildings.
Thanks for the feedback. More snips will be coming this year in between restoration projects. Keep an eye on this channel during 2024. Much appreciated.
Great work!
Thank you - much appreciated. Sorry for the late reply. Hope you like the other restoration examples Opaque Media does.
