Copperhead Strike testing front seat on-ride HD POV Carowinds

- čas přidán 5. 03. 2019
- Carowinds released this video of their new for 2019 Mack Rides custom double launch looping coaster. Following the Jojo roll out of the station, the first launch goes from 0-42 mph (0-67.5 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and midway through a second thrust of acceleration launches you from 35-50 mph (56-80 km/h) in 2 seconds through the next half of the ride.
The coaster also features four additional inversions: a corkscrew, a cutback and two vertical loops.
Carowinds is located on the North Carolina-South Carolina border near Charlotte, North Carolina.

looks more intense than I was expecting
Victor Lotfi ??? What were you expecting
@@Nick_J_ A usual Mack coaster, probably. Lol. They're fun and smooth, sure, but they don't have the blistering intensity of say a lot of Intamin rides. Most of them ride closer to the less intense B&M's. This actually appears to step it up a notch which I'm very happy about.
@@benfitz6389 this is basically maevrick but a tammer version
@@benfitz6389 A usual Mack. After Dc rivals i knew the future wont disappoint
I’ve been on it a few times and the floaters are super fun
Kinda cool hearing the coaster sounds without all the screaming and laughing!
Rise step chickens
0:34 i could feel the air time from all the way here lol
Exactly! That’s some solid ejector.
From what I've heard, the coaster restraints staple you into your seat so you don't feel it that much.
@@twistedgwazi5727 u fell it inside u
@@twistedgwazi5727 at least you fell the airtime
@@twistedgwazi5727 not really, ive been on it multiple times, and you obviously they have restraints so you don't fall out on the slow loop, but you still get some decent air time honestly.

I dont like the sensation of falling at all, so I honestly appreciate that this coaster doesnt have a huge initial drop to get things going. Very creatively designed, and as someone who is usually too afraid to ride roller coasters, I'd def give this a go.
Does not mean that you won’t get that feeling. You also get the feeling when you accelerate fast
@@demonghost6361 yeah, especially when it first shoots you out and then you loop, that’s when I feel it the strongest 😆
@@user-fu6bi9uf1y always happens on launch coasters. It feels like airtime almost.
Its called g force
@@mart9226 negative g force but ok
This looks superb. Another amazing Mack coaster. Wish I could make it to the US.
It's awesome man. I rode it 8 times in one day with a fast pass and it still didn't get old.
Badger's Den it’s fun if,you ever come go to carowinds and ride the intimidater and the fury the other two best rides
Ya but usually Mack launches aren’t as intense as intamin launches
@@rockeeetttt yup
When I'm on a coaster, instead of screaming, I always tense up and cringe really hard
It'sMagma that’s how you get butterflies in your stomach. Screaming makes it more enjoyable

Potato Jim I hate going up the chain and the first drop but after that I’m fine
This honestly looks like such a fun coaster!! Maybe I'm just going crazy, but I have a feeling it'll be lot faster and crazier when you're actually on it than the video gives off, especially coming out of the second launch it seems to haul ass haha. It has great hang/airtime moments and added to it those crazy twists, turns, the corkscrew, the inverted top hat, and jojo roll, this is gonna be a super fun and re-rideable coaster!! Glad to know I have a Mack double launcher at my homepark!! WOO HOO!! Can't wait for Passholder night!
Jay I went kind of underwhelmed I would say the speed is perfect from the video maybe just because I waited 4 hours
It is definitely better than the video makes it seem. Waited 2 hours and would do it again
It is faster and crazier when you’re on it
I went early when people were still in school line was like 10 min
Jay Alford the manufacturer Mack Rides always does slow Rides
Felt like I was going to fall out on the pre ride roll and slow hang time loop. Much more intense than it looks. Non stop after the first lurch to the end.
....wait thats the start?
@@chungusamongus519 they call it a jo jo roll. The Time Traveler does the same beginning but it also spins around.
@@Mikemallga A Y O
Never seen anything here in cali with one of those... maybe Magic Mountain has something new, haven't been in years...
@@Mikemallga time traveler doesnt have a jo jo roll?
@@Mikemallga you've mistaken 'time traveler' for 'ride to happiness', which makes sense considering theyre both mack xtreme spinners
When I rode this the first time I was not prepared for that jojo roll. Legit felt like I was going to fall out my seat. What a sneakily outstanding element. The first loop and the inversion after the second launch also deliver some kick ass hang-time as well. It’s a great ride. This ride, Fury and Afterburn are all stellar rides.
I don’t understand how people can enjoy riding something like ur were gonna fall out of
Definitely a coaster you ride at the beginning of the day but still unique and fun with lots of weightless moments and semi inverted bank turns
I did it at the end of my day (in August too 😬) and I regret that decision. The queue doesn't have much shade and the fans are few and far between. Sooo worth the wait to get on though!
Eat more cornbread.
Jojo rolls are awesome!
It looks awesome hopefully carowinds brings back thunder road
Hangtime Heaven
Smiler at Alton towers does it too which is so much better.
@@rcbif101 Unique means one of a kind, unlike anything else. So no it's not unique.
To those saying it looks slow, you should ride Icon. It looks slow, too, but it's thrilling on the back row, with hearty shovelings of full fat ejector. This will be similar. It would be cool if the trains could duel on/through the second loop, although that's unlikely. And of course, this ride will be awesome at night.
Not everything needs to be the fastest or whatever way upon opening, this looks like a solid addition.
It doesn’t look slow at all
I think for the loops it's supposed to be slow bc that's what they're going for. To scare you. Plus, prob if you put more speed on loops, that's more likely of a not good outcome. Im no mathematician but w/ out loops, speed will naturally be faster.
I rode this coaster a couple months ago, it was awesome!
It was one of my favorite ones at the park.
One of the best rides at Carowinds, trust me, I rode this toda
What about Fury 325? I recently went on NItro for the first time since the last time I wasn't tal; enough, and that blew me away. I bet Fury is only better. B&M never ceases to amaze me.
Really loving the hangtime on those loops and the cutback. Blends well with the surprisingly whippy transitions and pops of ejector. I'm excited to see how it runs in warm weather with full trains!
Got on this about 20-25 times on my vacation in every row. Its more intense than it looks, and is a great time. Airtime is sharp and intense. Hangtime is lonnnnnggg. And a few turns have a great whip to them. All of these things combined, and the glorious jojo roll, make a very unique experience. I personally haven't been on a ride with this combination of experiences before.
Things i didn't expect from Watching this video:
1. Turn going through the loop has crazy airtime.
2. The last airtime hill before the turn into the breakrun is intense.
3. The helix right before the 2nd launch is forceful. Gets that leg pull feeling going (lesser extent then batman clones)
4. A lot of the airtime feels like you are being thrown forward...not just up.
This is one of the most well-optimized rides I’ve ever been on. Not a meter of track went wasted, from beginning to end. Not much else compares in that regard (other than RMCs, famously). Amazing ride.
I mean, you start twisting upside-down as soon as you leave the station!
this looks so much more intense than i thought it would be. wow. this just jumped so much higher on my roller coaster bucket list.
Greatest coaster I've ridden so far. Number 103 on my list and it's the best
This is your best coaster? Seriously?
That first roll gives you so much hang time you have to ride it to understand it. It’s Amazing
This was the ride that made both me and my husband sick. It doesn’t look that bad at first glance but once you get on it, you are in for a real treat. Definitely a favorite!☺️
I rode this 3/22/19 it was a lot more than I anticipated actually! After the second stage, the launch is a pretty good rush and you carry that speed entirely through the first loop. 8/10 for me
No drops. Could definitely ride this
Syd Carrington hahaha I thought the same thing.
Syd Carrington I recently went to carowinds and rode all the roller coasters and this one was more nerve racking than some with drops just from the slow tiring upside down parts it’s definitely a different scare, but I in general am not scared to ride roller coasters
5 inversions...
Every ride has drops. Some are smaller than other but they're there.
@DeprecatingMemes actually it's 325 feet tall, but the drop is a bit shorter because it doesn't go to the very bottom.
As a theme park junky, this coaster is very well designed.
Same here. The only thing I have against it is the lack of themeing (which enhances the ride so much). They've put some sand in the bottom and coloured it copper but havent really done anything else. It feels like they focused on the ride and then ran out of budget.
A great example (not the only one), but a good example is Nemesis at Alton Towers. Everything is themed to a large extent
@@matwatson7947 Carowinds doesn't really have theming anywhere. It's mostly just concrete and rollercoasters. Can't complain though. The rides are great and the ticket prices are pretty low
Mat Watson they have theming for the line
@Sebastian Freeman Legends talk about how great the Shed is on Copperhead Strike.
@Sebastian Freeman #whatsintheshed
Thank you for one of the smoothest POV I’ve ever seen.
These coaster videos really help me going during isolation.
Oh this looks great I was concerned about how low speed it was but the hills interns look way more forceful than I expected
I'm also curious as hell what's it going to feel like to be accelerating over an air time hill
Also remember that it's one of the first test runs and it's been extremely cold for March. This will speed up a bit once it's broken in
Judging by how the 3rd Launch on Pulsar at Walibi Belgium feels this one should be a ton of fun.
Hopefully they bring back thunder road
Nice. Never ridden it, not even familiar with it but good to know! Deff excited.

I recently went to carowinds and I rode this. My first ever roller coaster. It was amazing and I loved it, do recommend.
That second launch looks like alot of fun!
This looks amazing!! would love to ride this one
This ride is awesome!! In the beginning when we went upside down I literally felt like I was going to fall out. It was wild! So fast and so smooth. 10/10 would recommend!
Loved this coaster!! Finally made it there yesterday and got to ride it....definitely a new favorite, and kinda blew my mind st first that it has inversions, but no shoulder harnesses, only a well designed lap restraint!
Absolutely beautiful!
That looks so cool. I wish this was at my home park too
Just rode this for the first time yesterday and it's better than it looks!!! LOTS of airtime, the video doesn't do it justice!
This ride is intense!!!!! Rode it last night at Scarowinds!!!! I literally floated off my seat in the harness. Love the slow to fast loops feeling like you're suspended in air but takes off again. Will be a definite one to ride again.

Looks insanely fast for a coaster with lots of negative G’s.
I watched a different version and it was a lot shorter than this one. But I rather ride this one over the other.
i rode this earlier this week and it's absolutely amazing. rode it 7 times in 2 days. would of rode it more but i waited for 2 hours in line for ride number 7.
I’ve been using this in planet coaster for so long and never knew it was a real ride! This is awesome 👏
All of Planet Coaster's coasters are based off of real coasters, especially those with a logo. Steel Vengeance is an actual coaster at Cedar Point that opened in 2018.
If Maverick and Fahrenheit had a baby.
I see a man in the window
This layout is incredible! As a theme park sim player, this is so satisfying to watch 😂
I went on this today, and the hang ti e is THE BEST!
Ha! I'm subscribed to Carowinds so I saw it before this!
I'm used to having a shoulder restraints with coasters that go upside down.
Shane Martin Don’t worry, Lap Bars are comfortable and have no difference in safety.
Me too, other than SooperDooperLooper with the lap bar, but that coaster goes through just 1 loop.
The particular seats used in this ride are currently the most comfortable seats you will find on a roller coaster.
Yeah well here is south carolina we are cheap idiots😂😁
Now I take AdDeRaLl *North Carolina
Going in June!!! So excited.
Owen Beute its nothing special 🤷🏽♀️
This looks freaking awesome. I have to admit that I was starting to get sick of parks just building longer, taller, faster, chain-lift coasters. This is a perfect example of how height, speed and length are overrated.
The person who made this played too much rct2 lol, the tracks through loops xD.
What are you talking about what's wrong with it
It’s on planet coaster
girl and the barrel roll from the station i do it all the time
This ride left me speechless. Completely fantastic. Super intense. We rode it literally six times.

I went yesterday and it was scorching hot. I got whiffs of barf everywhere. I thought it's none of the rides that's gonna make me nauseous. But it's ppls musty b.o. (some I can smell from a distance) , their lingering barf smells everywhere, the heat, & the freakin bathrooms. Females really r grosser than some dudes. Mainly bc we don't stand but squat instead... But there was poo on the ground in some of em & I know the cleaners didn't want to clean it but sure. Just let it marinate in the hot temperatures then. Just let it linger even more. & u can def smell that from a distance too. Which I've def become way more sensitive to public bathrooms in my older yrs. 🤮🤢
Just wait for all the Americans to complain about the launch being forceless!
Brendan Craven forceless, yes, but MACK rides has the most reliable LSM launch system in the business.
Dude there’s a ton of people already complaining about how slow it looks, how it should be faster and more intense, blah blah. Like damn you can’t enjoy just a fun roller coaster? Not everything has to be balls to wall intense for it to be fun to ride lol geez.
@@JayAlfordElementJMusic yeah completely get you.. Mack multi launches are great fun.. But bet ya there are some expecting a really punchy launch

I agree. Looks like a kid ride
After growing up going to cedar point my whole life I honestly have to say I'm not impressed. It's hard to find other coasters that can top what we have up here
Jacob Boger wow great to just spoil the mood 😑
This coaster isn't meant to be compared with other coasters at Cedar Point. This ride will have a unique ride experience that no coaster there can compare since this will (as of this post) be the only Mack coaster that features inversions + 2 launch elements. The other great Mack coasters are over in Europe, and most of them are held in high regard by most enthusiasts that have ridden them.
Give this coaster a couple months after it opens and then feel free to judge for yourself if it's up to your standards or not. Until then however, we can only wait and see. :)
Your welcome 😁 everyone is entitled to there own opinion though🤷🏻♂️
Jacob Boger cp fanboy alert
Hopefully carowinds brings back thunder road
I just rode this twice today for the first day ( and my first time at Carowinds) and I absolutely loved it! As a Atlanta native, I wish SFOG would have a coaster like this!!
My hubby & I went yesterday. This park is pretty bomb to me bc we hardly go anywhere. Also, he spends money like it's water & its annoying. But yesterday was obnoxiously hot. We both got weird tans. & They gave out free cold water every where.
Anywho, this was his 2nd time on c.h. & he said it wasn't that bad. I do mess w/ him but I do try helping him too. Mind over matter. Control ur own head, not the other way. I told him this is prob what eased me onto coasters. & that if I liked loops... then what's my problem w/ drops? I tried to get him to adopt my mindset about just being all f it, put ur hands up on a drop/ loop but he pretty much said hell to the nah. He also just tells me to shut up sometimes 🥴. I said it's prob not 1 of those things u just gradually get into. Ure either gonna like it or nah. Bc ure over thinking it & prob wasting more energy being that way than actually being in the moment. He still closes his eyes, screams less, & at least he likes c.h. tho ...
The things he does to make me happy 🤭. I'd rather take my chances on a ride than being eaten alive by a bear camping out in the wilderness or some bs :/. ...
Thanks for the ride!
