- Are you ready to be hurled around the world?
The Hurler joined Carowinds' lineup up world-class roller coasters in 1994. This classic wooden coaster features an oval shaped track with one outer and two smaller inner laps. Riders leave the station to be met with an excitement-building lift hill, reaching a height of 83 feet. After the train races down the first drop, it immediately hurls riders through a large over banked turn. The remainder of the ride is filled with a series of airtime hills and quick turns over 3,157 feet of wooden track.
The Hurler is known for its unexpected pop of air time and hurling speeds of 50 mph. It’s located in the Thrill Zone section of the park, directly behind Jukebox Diner. This coaster’s size and height requirement makes it the perfect spot for guests who aren’t quite ready, or tall enough, to brave its neighbor, Fury 325.
That POV looked a heck of a lot smoother than what my eyes saw 😊
my back started hurting just watching this
Fr
Your time is as beating and banging the whole time too?,..
And what my neck felt😂
RIGHT
I love how small it looks compared to Fury right next to it.
This is the first and the last coaster still in existence made by the company. It was brilliant at the time it was made. Treat it right.
Untrue Thunder Run at Kentucky Kingdom is older
@@Sluttyskye That was made by the Dinn Corporation I'm sure, This company made this Hurler and the one at Kings Dominion that got converted
Dude forget keeping this ride like this when rmc exists
Rmc: we will take good care of this rollercoaster ☺️
Hurler at KD was a couple months older than this one, but that really dosent make a difference. Me and my 72 year old grandmother rode it recently and surprisingly she absolutely loved it, and we ended up riding it 4 times. That to be said, she likes the front row only.
I waited 0 minutes to ride this in 2019. Was worth the wait.
Yes it very was
forget weightlessness when therrs waitlessness
... :/. First off why would they call it the hurler? That sounds appealing... My hubby tries to grasp on anything opposite to my preferred tastes bc if only I was just scared about anything kind of silly 🙄... but it's like how the hell do I put this in "dude language" ? The hurler is kind of fun but mainly on the very first time. Otherwise, riding the hurler is like having a fd axl & there's an ish load of potholes. Thats the Only reason I don't like it. & Out of all the things more things questionable, I'm not really all that sure about wood, nails, & other things I'm missing :/, & water slides, but ok stay excited. Also, of course he wants to hold vortex over me, bc for short ppl, that should be the scrambler instead. Bc for short ppl, my head just bashes side to side the whole time. He really wanted to stall time by going on all the "fair rides" Ha. He be like ironic. If only he knew he recently the spinner gets mentioned... 🤭
Nope it’s sucked for me
One of my all time favorites. I love how rough it is.
thats what she said
@@Vyperrisadilf 😂
I think you're remembering the old Hurler at King's Dominion before it got RMC'd. This one's not really rough, it rattles a bit (ok, a lot) but it doesn't really bang around or otherwise feel like it's out of tolerance or potholed. It's a typical older woodie in that regard.
This coaster is actually quite decent. When I rode this year I got some surprising airtime compared to last year!
Pro tip for riding: Try to get front seat. It makes it a lot more smooth.
EDIT: Never gonna ride this again. It felt like it was gonna fall apart.
I did the exact opposite and got flung around the whole time 😂
A very jerky and bouncy coaster, but is easily my favorite at Carowinds. I rode it for the first time yesterday (as it was my first time going to Carowinds) and the coaster vibrated so much the entire time I had a head ache when I got off but I loved it. It's not too short, not too long, and just the right amount of thrill. They should rename it the "Earthquake".
Bruh
I honestly think Hurler is an appropriate name for it at this stage of its life, though Earthquake is a good name choice
Fury entered the chat
Afterburn is super fun you feel as if your flying in the air
So this is what it looked like while my eyes were closed. It felt like a earthquake!
Oh so you chicked out?
Same
@@ducky7706 i checked it out to
YOU HAD YOUR EYES CLOSED? BRUH DONT TALK TO ME😭
🤣
I've been on this ride too many times, Carowinds you owe me compensation for back pain.
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
RMC the sucker!
I don’t know why I was scared to ride this. It looks so tame.
I'm petrified to go on the bigger coasters like Fury and Intimidator so I saw this one and figured okay I'll go on this one. As long as it doesn't go upside down and have straight down drops that put your stomach in your throat I'm good with it lol.
It's because these videos aren't a very accurate way of portraying how it actually feels like to go on rides like this. When you actually ride it, your entire body shakes, and the main drop feels like your actually dropping out of the sky.
The coaster that jackhammers you into the corners. Not gonna lie they should rmc this.
Why do so many people want this RMC'd? This is carowinds only wooden coaster left.
@@timlemoine201 let me rephrase:
Carowinds only ADULT wooden coaster. Woodstock is borderline kiddy coaster.
@@bcor4219 There's also the Gold Rush. Which is bigger than Woodstock.
@@camulodunon that's a mine train, which is a steel coaster with wooden supports. The only true wood coasters at Carowinds are Woodstock and hurler. And Woodstock is a kiddie/family coaster. If Carowinds RMC's this, they would have no adult wooden coaster.
I wish they had kept thunder road and gotten rid of the hurler instead
@@d.n.8919agreed
Carowinds, i love you now, but please RMC this. Imagine having an rmc right next to fury, that would be awesome!
RMC when?
Guy's remember this is the only other wooden coaster that we have in the park (except for the Woodstock Express) and honestly I'm just grateful that we still have it. I can wait a few more years for an RMC to come to the park.I just want us to have a decent Woodie.
I'd love for this to be RMC'd like Twisted Timbers just hope we get a GCI before or after to refill the wooden gap
limitless.coasterdoc My point exactly!
Carowinds is more of a steel coaster park anyway. It can do without a major wooden coaster, especially one like Hurler.
Eccentric Gamer I mean I don't see it really happening for two reasons. One because RMC don't like to do clones and two, I just rode it the other day and it was really smooth.
I never said it had to be a clone of Twisted Timbers. Plus, even if it is smooth, it's not necessarily an exciting layout. RMC could change that without having to clone TT.
0:37 I love the feeling when you look over you think you are going to see the drop below you but all that you see is a pre drop right in front of you when the trains start to go down and you finally see the pre drop.
RMC it differently than TT and we be good
The biggest problem with this coaster is that it’s not Twisted Timbers! It’s easier to count non-airtime moments on that airtime machine!
I went on a class field trip and this is my favorite ride it may look scary but that big. drop is so fun with the air time
Rode this one 2 days ago. It was great
RMC!!!!!, y'all really need a rmc and this ride needs the treatment, make it happen
No, not every coaster needs an rmc to be smooth, a GCI would be nice.
I agree, retrack it.. I love this coaster. It’s not rough in every row. There is definitely rows on wooden coasters you don’t want to sit in.
This was my first roller coaster
Mine was Fury…
Yeah…
Mine was Carolina Cyclone 🌀. Yeah I'm an old head
i was younger than 10 when i rode this. I rode this before the cyclone. My dad was telling me, "Man, if you can ride this you can ride the cyclone!" But I just said "the cyclone looks scary!"
Wow.
The monorail of Woodies ^^
Petition to get this coaster RMC'd. (Rocky mountain construction, not the carowinds variant.)
Superb ❤
this was very fun to ride on
I say 6th best in the park. Hopefully if they rmc it, hopefully they’ll get a gci first.
I ride it when I was 9 years old and I was screaming so loudly that I thought I was going to die
needs to be RMC'd, i don't care if you think they shouldn't because it's the last wooden coaster at carowinds, it still sucks and is super painful to ride
Agreed it’s loud and painful
This thing has the potential to be one of the best wooden coasters but is pretty much destroyed by trims and roughness.
I went on this last weekend and it was horribly rough and not fun. RMC this nightmare ASAP!
THIS WAS A ROUGH RIDE
this ride made my head feel like mush 😭😭😭
Rmc?
It’s still amazing how twisted Timbers takes on the exact layout of her lee just with inversions
Yeah cuz twisted timbers used to be hurler
Bro when the drop happens the ride is soo loud bro
I was on the hurler when it got stuck a couple days ago
This coaster hurt my knees so bad I rode it once after that it was it
I don’t really want this to be RMC’ed, I mean it’s the last major woodie in the park
i want this to be rmc'ed but they should also get a major gci woodie
There are wooden coasters that are bumpy on purpose...and then there is the Hurler. I remember when it first opened, and I waited hours to ride it! It just didn't have the long-term staying power of Thunder Road. And now Carowinds is stuck retracking every 2 years. 😞
Im pretty sure its thats way on purpose. The name implies that its designed to be rough. Plus wooden coasters are always rough but you are right on the Thunder road part that one is still my favorite. It gave me more airtime than lighting rod, fury and even the intimidator. Im sad they took it down. All for a waterpark at that. While it was getting very old. It wouldve been fun to see a new company redo the ride. Not RMC. They do to many inversions. I think GCI wouldve done wonderful if given the chance to redo Troad. They know how to retain the original ride design of most of the coasters they redo.
Love it. Looks older.
The main woodie remaining 🤷🏻♂️ GCI in the future would be nice!
I got on this yesterday the 1st drop scared me but the rest of the ride was fun.
Are u from Robeson County by any chance?
The drop doesn’t seem that bad on camera but OMG it gave me so much adrenaline
By far my favorite coaster in the park. Let's just leave this one the way it was meant to be.
Would you recommend this one for someone who is scared of rollercoasters and trying to get over it?
@@kayladraper3213 It is a good starter roller coaster in my opinion. Woodstock Express in my opinion is a bit more intense despite the smaller size. It has a lot of floater air time, and ejecter air time. While Hurler especially in the front doesn't have a lot of good air time.
@@webecomets thank you, me and my bestfriend are going in 2 weeks and I'm terrified of rollercoasters lol
@@kayladraper3213 You'll enjoy it. Hurler is a good starter ride. The best ride in the park is Copperhead Strike hands down. Great air time.
@@webecomets ok thank you
"unexpected pop of airtime"
singular?
Went on this when I was 8 the first time I cried going up the hill and freaked out cause we were going straight up the hill and I couldn’t find out what to hold onto for some reason and when we were up I was happy then saw the drop and immediately cried and screamed
iron hurler. sounds like a good name. make it happen
He has claimed the number one spot of wooden coaster at Carowinds (Rip Thunder Road)… ;-;
The first drop HURT MY STUMIK SO BAD NEVER AGAIN
Stumik
I rode this morning.
Okay, so I'm scared to death of roller coasters. I'll watch videos but you drag me on one and I'm going to freak. My friend and I went to Carowinds and she is into roller coasters so she dragged me on this one and I cried, but after a couple seconds, I loved it. This is a very tame coaster and it's really good for people who aren't into really insane coasters.
I rode this 15 times yesterday
This one was janky. I liked it, but the headache…
Is this the same layout the one at Kings Dominion had before RMC rebuild? Looks like it but not sure.
RMC! RMC! RMC!
Only one left now
It looks so fun I'm going tomorrow but I am scared
This is a arm beater and I have had slight bruise from riding this before and preferred Thunderroad back in the day.
Me and my sister are going on this tomorrow
Please RMC this carowinds 🙏🏻
Hurler isn’t getting RMC’d beause RMC is the type of manufacturer to despise clones. Also, the Hurler at Carowinds is much better than the former one at Kings Dominion.
Having ridden Twisted Timbers, I would be perfectly fine with a clone of it at Carowinds
limitless.coasterdoc Well, obviously. I rode Twisted Timbers, easily 2nd best coaster at KD. It would be cool but it would be even better if Carowinds gets something different
Ahem... Railblazer and Wonder Woman?
Hiveminded an RMC Raptor would be too low capacity for this park, a T-Rex would be amazing tho ;)
I was referring to the guy saying that RMC would despise clones.
A little roughness on a wooden coaster doesn't anyone. Although I personally enjoy it, my mom thought the ride was going to break
Rev hurler you see how twisted timber’s turned out
RIP!
So, I'm pretty new to coasters. I rodae a couple in my teens, but was scared of heights and didn't enjoy them. Went to Carowinds with my wife a couple weeks ago and had a good time. Didn't ride Fury 325, but plan to next time. (Baby steps Lol) What does RMC refer to and is there a dictionary for all the terms I see in the comments of these vids?
RMC has 2 meanings: 1 refers to Rocky Mountain Construction, a company that builds roller coasters, mainly by turning old, wooden roller coasters into new, steel roller coasters.
The other refers to the act of turning an old wooden roller coaster into a new steel hybrid coaster
Examples:
1. RMC makes great rides
2. I hope they RMC Hurler
Fun woodie but it is rough...I remwber when it 1st came out
If you ride this ride be sure to take painkillers minutes before
This ride is rough but I did not find it painful. I kinda liked the roughness. But I hated this ride because I got no airtime. My butt did not even leave the seat. From the outside it looked promising but on ride you don’t get airtime and it just meanders around. This ride NEEDS to be RMC’d. the only good thing is that second turn is kind of intense.
0:39 you just see the fury smerking at you
im afraid of roller coasters so i made a list to ease my way up to fury or copper head strike (i have an inverted coaster list too) if anybodys still here reading this is the list
ricochet
gold rusher
hurler
the flying cobras/cobra
cyclone
copper head strike
intimidator
fury 325
inverted coasters
kitty hawk
afterburn(might be more scary then night hawk I haven't ridden NH yet so what works for u)
night hawk
I don't have rides like do-si-do or screen weaver yet( ps I will get them on here eventually but thank you for reading this if your still here, have a wonderful day/night (ps again stay hydrated and healthy
This is definitely a hint
Remember the 25 years of vortex video? Everyone thought that was 100% a teaser but nope.
Once upon a time, the Hurler name used to fit really well as this ride was once themed to Wayne’s World during the Paramount Days.
But then in 2006, Cedar Fair bought the Paramount parks, and sometime after, all the Wayne’s World theming was removed, and now we have a coaster that’s themed to… well, throwing up.
Why they decided to keep the Hurler name, I have no idea, but in all honesty, none of the Hurler coasters were any good from what I’ve heard. The one at Kings Dominion has since been transformed into the RMC Hybrid creation known as Twisted Timbers, however this one remains as is.
I do hope one day this coaster gets the RMC Treatment, or at least a complete overhaul from the Gravity Group, similar in fashion to Tonnerre 2 Zeus at Parc Asterix in France.
RMC please!
It made my social studies teacher puke on a field trip 10/10
Was a rough one, but I enjoyed this ride.
Even though I was screaming like a girl I liked it
What's with all the hate. This looks fun. Ide be happy to have it.
This ride is SOOOO PAINFUL
waited 1 minute in line for this coaster. dont think it was worth the wait
This one is better than the one that was at kings dominion .
WE need rmc to work on this
Love this ride. Dont RMC it. Amazing the way it is. #NeverChange
Breadlinee no rmc everything. Nothing shall be left
RMC please
The seats smell like Cheetos 😆
Hello
Bro it’s different the first time
I hate this ride it's so uncomfortable lol but it was my very first coaster ever when I was a kid and I guess it's what made me like roller coasters. I have a love/hate feeling for it
3 simplest letters to fix this ride, RMC!!!!!
I'd would like to see Hurler be refurbished by GCI, like with what happened to Ghost Rider at Knott's Berry Farm.
Problem is that Ghostrider had potential in its original layout but Hurler definitely does not
The video is actually a pretty big improvement compared to the actual coaster. I'm glad there's still a big wooden coaster standing, but why did it have to be this one?
Hurler was one of the rides I ran frequently when I worked at Carowinds so I'm allowed to shittalk it all I want. :)
Instead of RMCing this, how about GCI it?
Yes I agree
ride used to be great but this year in 2022 it is un rideably rough even in the front seats
RMC this pleaseeee
RMC this ride please
Bruh this gave me next problems
RMC, please. Then add a GCI woodie and a steel launch.
The launched coaster from Mack is coming next year. My personal hope is that they RMC Hurler, give Vortex the Floorless treatment, and put a GCI in where Dinosaurs Alive is right now.
Eccentric Gamer noooo new rmc where dinos alive is and maybe a dive coaster or something like that where hurler is
Kopn Why would you want a dive coaster? It's a one trick pony.
