i think this was one of the first times in the film when we realize he's serious about who he is becoming. he's the first to embrace how much he wants to change as a person. i really admired his character for that and this poem is my favorite from the film simply for the context.
To me, Charlie "Nuwanda" Dalton really embraces what poetry was becoming at that time period. He embodies "Beat," at least in my opinion, and although he was expelled from "HELLton," in my imagination, he moved to San Francisco or New York in what would be his college years and became a successful poet alongside the likes of Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, and hung out with all the other Beats, musicians, artists, and intellectuals of the time. :D
Why oh why did Gale Hansen stop acting... he was something else, wasn't he? A formidable talent!!! I would love to see him excel alongside the likes of Josh Charles, Ethan Hawke and Robert Sean Leonard today...
+MissFawlty Oh so true. It really is a pity! Well, if acting isn't the thing he wants to do, alright. But what a terrible waste of talent nevertheless! :(
This scene is my favorite, his poem and how he plays on saxophone shows a lot. The way his muse makes us listen and makes us understand what he wanted to devolve.
love everything about him. at first i dont like his character but as the movie goes i started to like him. his loyal, brave and he rlly understand what poet is and what teacher keating is telling to them. and in the start of the movie you will think that he is not serious but thats not true.
I love this scene! I was so enamored by his sexy confidence and talent... I love how all the other boys just got caught off guard by the beautiful melody of the sax... and then he kneels right in front of Knox knowing he is lovesick.
just came out as bisexual to my friends (from a different country) by text and immedietly after, i came to look for this video it calms me down so much i already watched it twice im gonna watch it once more and check what my friends answered. love you nuwanda thanks for the comfort

it means he's completely brainwashed under keating's spell of subversion. they are feckless and lost. Keating is the villain in this movie.
blobcity what?!
@@blobcity3591 but.... Keating was literally teaching them to think for themsleves for the whole movie.... 😬

If you follow his twitter, he’s just announced he is actively trying to “re-break” into the acting game. Dreams do come true😭😍
@@nicigiusto6124 Really? Oh my. I have now high hopes to see on him soon

everyone has their expression changed after hearing the trumpet and the way the smoking is converted into serious state is extraordinary.😂
