Sound wise this is probably the most accurate review video I have seen so far. Picked up a JHS reverb for $45, threw it in front and gigged this over the past weekend. I play in a very dynamic Indie Rock/Dreamo band and this thing performed amazingly. I ran into a 4x12 Verellen cab and it was plenty loud enough cranked, but miced off anyway.

First off, loved your review of this pedal. I'm a fan now. I had a micro terror as a back up amp, major downfall was no fx loop. Then they released the micro dark with an fx loop, but I didn't need that much gain. This pedal is great! Two volumes and an fx loop. It's the perfect mini rig that you can gig with.
@@jimmyfranklin I actually downsized years ago. Working Class Musician yes I ran it with my Metro amps supa boost and my dod 250 preamp and it worked out nicely. I felt it lacked the gain I saw in the namm videos but different guitar and speakers and what not will have that I’m sure. It just seemed pretty beastly on the namm videos. I’ve seen a few people say pretty much the same on the lack of gain. Would be a great flight rig or a killer backup.
Thanks for the video. I'm running out of reasons not to buy a stamp. I've been running amp in a box pedals into a cab sim strait into an interface so I don't have to screw with putting a mic in front of a combo. This seems like the next logical progression.
I own and use a POD HD500x. Im thinking about buying this to use just as a power amp for my 2x12 cab, by running the POD into the effects return with cab sim on the pod turned off. This should work pretty decently right? Its mostly for band practices or for whenever I need to use a physical cab instead of going direct to FOH from the POD.
Just subscribed, video is great. I just picked one of these up but have been running it through a mooer Radar into a good set of flat response speakers, don’t have a cab right now, have a few solid state amps but haven’t made the full switch yet. I tried playing gigs with a micro terror head and 12” cab but it was not quite loud enough at times so I got a Tiny Terror! Now I’ve got the volume needed for almost anywhere. Although you could mike the micro up to the PA if needed.

Do you think it’d be worth it to use it in conjunction with the Pedal Baby? Take the Send/Line out (and any pedals you would normally use with the FX loop) into the Pedal Baby, and have the Stamp as your tube preamp and the Pedal Baby as your power amp. I wonder what it would sound like if you switched out the tube for a different brand to change the sound. Like a fender for more clean headroom or a Mesa boogie tube for more gain
so... I've heard a few say that it doesn't change much, but I have been very interested in finding out... i just haven't gotten around to it... do you change out tubes a lot??
Hi dude, great review, been looking at orange amps recently and got recommended this video. Looked like you were going through something else as well? Or was it guitar in to orange then straight to speaker? If so, this could be a life saver. I lugged a jcm800 around for a few shows and then it blew on the last one, very un rewarding
this video is the terror stamp directly into the orange cab.. its just sitting next to the pedal baby! there is a video where I mixed the two on here as well!
At namm orange said this could be used as a preamp which is just awesome, and of course as a amp itself like you are doing with the pedal baby. I’m wanting to see a vid with it used as a preamp pedal through a orange solid state. I say this because I run a Blackstar ht valve boost pedal as a preamp through my crush head and it sounds damn close to a rockerverb so I’m wondering if this would be an improvement over the Blackstar besides the point that this pedal is a amp itself as a backup or practice tool.
dude. I was running preamps from my helix into a backstair ht! now I run the helix into my orange pedal baby... this could be ran into the pedal baby and boost the wattage up! (video coming soon)
Working Class Musician thats exactly where I was going with that I wonder how it would sound since it would boost can’t wait for the next vid man you killed it.
I play drums with my feet and often recorded drum tracks (one man band style) and the micro terror through a 1/12 unmiked wasn’t loud enough. Low head room for cleans also. Pretty loud with gain all the way up but not clean. Miked through the PA would work but in that case I just bring a 1-5 watt tube/valve amp instead anyways. Plus the micro terror or micro dark is the same small size and about $100 used so...?
Subbed because of this video, just wish I knew the channel earlier! Anyhow, really like to get this, have you tried any pedals in front or in the loop?
@@jimmyfranklin I want to use it as a main rig. At this point in life, I dont have time to save for a new/used head. I got a Mesa 212, few pedals. I am drawn to the Orange because of the Tube preamp, effects loop and power switch actually. I have a EHX 44 Magnum, thought Id just pick up a used Fly Rig but wanted the Orange more.
Is there any way to replace the valve that is inside the Terror stAMP? Like what happens if it gets dropped and the valve breaks, can it be removed and replaced?
I have been interested in this amp mainly because of its price point. I want a simple amp rig for my “clean tones” which use a couple pedals for texture and a dash of reverb. After watching more of this review I feel confident this amp could be exactly what I’m looking for. Plus great overdrive tones are on top.
@@jimmyfranklin Prior to retiring my live rig was an American Deluxe Strat, Music Man JP, Mesa Boogie Mark lV combo w/Rectifier 4X12 cab and a Peavey Delta Blues combo (15" Blue Marvel) mic'd with SM57's and virtually no efx, just the built in reverb with crybaby occasionally BUT I'm not really a guitar player. I'm a keyboard player and my last live rig was a Yamaha P-150, Roland VK-7 , Mini Moog Voyager and a Yamaha EX5, all DI back thru my monitors. BUT I never met an instrument I didn't fall in love with so I try and play just about anything, or I did I should say, 'cept brass, ain't got the lip. About ten years ago with my health failing I starting getting rid of anything I couldn't easily move so now I've some small tube amps, a few SS and I stay at home and try and do a bit of recording to ProTools. If you listen to my Old Man scratch here on YT, that's a LP Studio through a H&K Tubemeister 18 DI to a Clarette 4 Pre. Acoustic is the high end of Martin's Road Series, Drums are Roland V Drums through Superior Drummer 2. Keys are Arturia B3V, Behringer Model D, some noise is from a Moog Sub37TE, Bass is an Ibanez I had hangin' 'round straight in and my horrid vox are thru a '57 because that's what I could reach at the time... lol. SO, I wanted a teeny no frills amp I could just move around the house and studio easily and plug into whatever cab was close by that sounded decent and had good touch response 'scause I play funny, "cleaned" up nicely and got really dirty and the two master volumes makes it so the Stamp is all I really need. I think I can make this do pretty much what I want. Haven't tried the cab sim recording yet but I feel like it'll be fine. I sure hope so. I'm all about making things as easy as possible at this late stage of the game as the polyosteoarthritis is a huge PITA. Sorry for the long response... prolly much more than you wanted to know. But thanks for your great review. Please keep 'em coming.
@@jimmyfranklin I think home use / recording mostly. But, I'm just sick enough of lugging a heavy tube amp around, that if it sounds good enough I'd also be willing to use it live.
So I can use this in conjunction with my amp? And can I use it to have one channel for clean and the other high gain? Please lemme know because, I need an equal volume HG and clean mid song for live 🤙🏽
@@VoodooApex hmmm. could be an interesting combo but I don't think you'd get much more out of using it WITH the head.. I think you'd want to use this pedal AS THE HEAD
Working Class Musician so, I have a Roland JC22 solid state amp, super clean amp. Can I use it to punch my dry signal and overdrives/distortion through that amp? Or is it better to use this orange pedal through a cab?
the power supply is a standard 15v dc 2a, positive center power supply that you would get with the micro terror.. there is a power brick and I guess the transformer would be entirely external!
It's the exact same thing as the Micro Dark. If you want to play this at lower volumes, put a compressor in the FX Loop, up the sustain/comp and lower the volume. Doing this you're creating a power tube sag effect (Think Van Halen's Brown Sound) so you can get really good saturated sounds at a very low volume.
I was looking for a really simple setup to restart playing guitar after several years without practicing. The Stamp AND your review ended to motivate me. THANKS !! Now I'm trying to find a way to make it act like a 2 channel amp. I had in mind to set the distortion sound then lower the input signal with a volume pedal or an attenuator pedal like the EXH Signal Pad. What would you (or anyone else) think ?
So, can I run this device through a Roland JC22 for OD/Dist? And keep the wet signal through the amp fx loop? And BTW. Is that an Ibanez AZ prestige? I’m looking forward the HSS model.
How do you think this would sound running through an existing solid state amp as a pedal to give the amp that classic orange sound? I have an old 1980 Ibanez GX30 I'd love to run this through.
The question is "How long before there is an Orange Dark Terror Stamp?" since it would make sense that if this circuit fits into this form factor and the Tiny Dark Terror was based on the Tiny Terror head it should be easy to fit it into this form factor too.
Ok, question I haven’t seen answered about this anywhere: is the master volume wired before or after the FX loop? In the micro dark it’s before which is baffling. Same thing here?
@@ozzlayer if you are running the Brent hinds terror (love that amp by the way) then this could be great as a back up!! isn't it a great time to be alive?? haha
just plug into the "cab sim" jack! direct to the board with a quarter inch jack... if your mixer only has XLR input, you will have to run a quarter inch cable from the cab sim to a DI box then xls from the DI box to the board
Can confirm. I have a Micro Dark (which is the Stamp but you know, a pedal...) I play out pretty regularly (Worship at my church and various worship contracting gigs in the DC/Baltimore area) and I use the Micro Dark (Stamp) with a full pedal board, loud drummers, obscene bassists and can keep up with them fairly easily. It's my main gigging amp if you can believe that. You can absolutely gig with this thing and am tempted to sell my Micro Dark for the Stamp lol
Hello my english is not perfect but i will try to make myself understood. Like you, I have an ORANGE PEDAL BABY that I love. I would like to buy an ORANGE TERROR STAMP which looks great. Have you already plugged it into the ORANGE PEDAL BABY? What do you think? cordially Olivier

I love ❤️ this video jimmy franklin thank you 🙏 How would you like to be a guest on my weekly Talk show that Aires on Facebook and CZcams at the same time.
Just Subscribed and loved your video's on the stamp. Some things to note, I believe the STAMP is a class AB solid state power similar to the pedal baby (Hence the external block power adapter). And it's part of the reason it sounds as loud as it does. I've used the cabsim headphone out direct to front (PA System) of house while using my cab onstage as a monitor for myself. It's not the best Cabsim but it does the trick if you really need it too.
that's great to know!! both are AB however the pedal baby is "class A bridged with AB". im not sure if that is just how that set up works tho! I haven't used direct in yet but I've ran direct with so many pedals before. does it project well??
Working Class Musician it projects really well live and the cabsim does work, I’d recommend using an EQ in the effects loop to help out a bit as the Cabsim can sound shrill depending on the PA and Soundguy.
IMO the power supply is what gives it away as a class D power amp. Not a bad thing, it’s just that we as guitarists are not used to class d in direct guitar applications.
When was that?? Because orange still makes many affordable products that can be considered “cheap” today. That’s what I love about some of their stuff. Even the cheap stuff is great!
@@jimmyfranklin I started playing in 1985 at the age of 9. I would see Orange amps in pawn shops for next to free, so I figured they just couldnt be good. Before the internet and smart phones all we had was a handful of magazines, older brothers, and "that guy" at the music store as sources of information. The 80s were strange, everyone was making solid state 200W monsters and tubes were "old man amps".
At low volume though an attenuated 1-12" speaker to get it to a quiet speaking volume, it sounds really tinny across most of the tone knob range. There is an OK sound in there, but I was much happier after I made a low pass filter mod to the thing that only effects Volume 1 tone leaving Volume 2 original. Here is a link for more info. www.moddquad.com/p/misc_4.html

Excellent demo - lots 'o fun!! Tempted to get one but I doubt it's loud enough for small/medium gigs, with an unmiked 1x12 cab like I use.
I think it depends on your drummer. I have a Micro Terror (same wattage and ohms) and it can get pretty loud through my 12" Screaming Eagle.
@@danielschmidtke9213 thanks!
Also sick demo
Whole rig sounds great! Which 212 Orange cab are you using? Thanks.
Looks like the vertical PPC212
yes! this is correct!
So basically it should be a great pedal platform?
Can you run this into a effects loop of a solid state amp to give it a little bit of tube grit?
one hundred percent! run it from the loop and use the amp as a power amp!
Subbed because of this video, just wish I knew the channel earlier!
Anyhow, really like to get this, have you tried any pedals in front or in the loop?
yessir! fx loop kicks ass! takes pedals very well!
what are you looking to use it fir??
@@jimmyfranklin I want to use it as a main rig. At this point in life, I dont have time to save for a new/used head. I got a Mesa 212, few pedals.
I am drawn to the Orange because of the Tube preamp, effects loop and power switch actually.
I have a EHX 44 Magnum, thought Id just pick up a used Fly Rig but wanted the Orange more.
Nice playing bro!
Thank you so much!!
Is there any way to replace the valve that is inside the Terror stAMP? Like what happens if it gets dropped and the valve breaks, can it be removed and replaced?
it can be replaced very easily!
Sounds killer! I love my micro terror dark and this would be even easier to carry around. Wow
yup! same amp... only fits on the board!
What if i want a cab sim pedal? I don’t use cabs and use in ear monitors with no stage volume
then dont plug in a speaker, use the preamp out and you can use this as a preamp into you speaker sim of choice...
Can you line out from the headphone jack into a mixer? Curious how the cab sim sounds as well as if it's possible to gig with without even a cab.
yes you can!! im going to do a video on that as soon as I can!
@@jimmyfranklin awesome!! Looking forward to it, just subbed!!!
I have been interested in this amp mainly because of its price point. I want a simple amp rig for my “clean tones” which use a couple pedals for texture and a dash of reverb.
After watching more of this review I feel confident this amp could be exactly what I’m looking for. Plus great overdrive tones are on top.
Dude thank you for playing Party in the USA lmao. I actually wanna learn it xD
Yes I do! And I'm I'm kinda lovin' it. :-)
Nice review, my friend.
thank you! What is your rig!?!
Are you able to plug into the cab sim and have the line out to a speaker simultaneously?
im not entirely sure!
Late, but yes. I tried it out with mine and you definitely can.
I haven't heard anything bad about this. I'm so tempted to pick one up. It just seems like a great practical piece of gear.
BTW, Sub'd!
you should... what is it... 200 bucks?!.. its so convenient for the little package... what would you use it for??
@@jimmyfranklin I think home use / recording mostly. But, I'm just sick enough of lugging a heavy tube amp around, that if it sounds good enough I'd also be willing to use it live.
@@deezee8508 totally! i have to do a video talking more in depth about the Direct in feature for sure!!
Could you go straight into the PA system using a DI box? I was thinking going stereo using my Vox AC15 micd up and this straight using a direct box.
ABDIEL PECINA Music I play with one at church and use the headphones emulated line out straight into a di box. It emulates a 2by12 can being mic’d
easily! don't even need a di box if the pa has a quarter inch input! however a di box and xlr cable are better when running a line further distance
Take a shot everytime he says spank. RIP

thats only like 5 shots brah! haha
@@jimmyfranklin Darn. That's barely a buzz. We gotta pump those numbers up. haha
@@the_realist_John_Doe SPANK SPANK SPANK SPANK!
So I can use this in conjunction with my amp? And can I use it to have one channel for clean and the other high gain? Please lemme know because, I need an equal volume HG and clean mid song for live 🤙🏽
what kind of amp do you have? this is more of an amp head in a pedal form
Working Class Musician I have a Fender Mustang Head and Cab, Solid State
@@VoodooApex hmmm. could be an interesting combo but I don't think you'd get much more out of using it WITH the head.. I think you'd want to use this pedal AS THE HEAD
Working Class Musician so, I have a Roland JC22 solid state amp, super clean amp. Can I use it to punch my dry signal and overdrives/distortion through that amp? Or is it better to use this orange pedal through a cab?
Unboxings should show us the whole unboxing. Where is the transformer on this amp, is it on the power brick?
the power supply is a standard 15v dc 2a, positive center power supply that you would get with the micro terror.. there is a power brick and I guess the transformer would be entirely external!
Is the Stamp better than the Micro Terror or Micro Dark Terror? Does it sound good at lower volumes (those other Micro amps did not in my opinion).
I like the sounds you can get... but its the exact same amp as the micro stuff just in a pedal
What would you (or anyone else) think ?
thank you for the sub!! I would try a tech 21 fly rig or maybe a micro amp or EQ pedal maybe??
I use mine with one speaker of my combo amp no problem
😂😂😂😂 the steel panther joke
HAHAHA! but seriously! lol
Bought one yesterday as an option for ‘away’ gigs, amp breakdown, etc. interested to see how it holds up in rehearsals
thanks for the sub! let us know how it goes!!
Hello So Excited. Nice to meet you.
you as well! where you from?
Working Class Musician Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦
Really interested to see someone use the cab sim out into a DAW curious about the sound
im totally gonna do this! thank you
@@jimmyfranklin Did you get round to this? Thinking about this for the local gigs I do since I can't afford Car Insurance.
So, can I run this device through a Roland JC22 for OD/Dist? And keep the wet signal through the amp fx loop? And BTW. Is that an Ibanez AZ prestige? I’m looking forward the HSS model.
what is a Roland JC22 exactly??
Working Class Musician Roland amplifier. Roland Jazz Chorus
How do you think this would sound running through an existing solid state amp as a pedal to give the amp that classic orange sound? I have an old 1980 Ibanez GX30 I'd love to run this through.
it could probably work really well... may not project the same though??
Working Class Musician I ended up just buying a Marshall 2x12 half cab and run it through that and it’s amazing.
Running the preamp out to your input should work.
Any chance you could compare the Terror Stamp to a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170?
im gonna try and get my hands on one to compare for sure!!
The question is "How long before there is an Orange Dark Terror Stamp?" since it would make sense that if this circuit fits into this form factor and the Tiny Dark Terror was based on the Tiny Terror head it should be easy to fit it into this form factor too.
Elvy Foster this one is based on the micro dark terror I do believe? Don’t know why it isn’t black?
Have you tried running your helix through it and using it as a power amp through the effects return?
Curious how clean the power amp is
I'm getting to that video as well! stay tuned!
Ok, question I haven’t seen answered about this anywhere: is the master volume wired before or after the FX loop? In the micro dark it’s before which is baffling. Same thing here?
ok.. I haven't tried it yet but im almost sure that its exactly the same!
Are you running that straight into the cab or through the Pedal Baby?
straight in!
Nice Demo Dude
thank you! you pick one up??
Great demo.

How would I go about plugging this directly into a venue's PA?
just plug into the "cab sim" jack! direct to the board with a quarter inch jack... if your mixer only has XLR input, you will have to run a quarter inch cable from the cab sim to a DI box then xls from the DI box to the board

It would have to be cranked up but yes I believe you can!!
Can confirm. I have a Micro Dark (which is the Stamp but you know, a pedal...) @@negativeland5207 give it a shot!! does it have an effects loop??
Working Class Musician no fx loop on the amp sadly
@@DareBear2099 ^^^FOR ANYONE READING THIS, THIS IS GRET ADVICE!!! thank you for that! that's so easy!
IMO the power supply is what gives it away as a class D power amp. Not a bad thing, it’s just that we as guitarists are not used to class d in direct guitar applications.
When I was a kid Orange were "cheap amps", now they are a go to for great tone.... if I had HALF the gear that I bought and sold to "upgrade" 🤦♂️
@@daddyosink4413 thats crazy! and weird... but also an amazing time to be alive... to see that and see everything we have now must be amazing!

So, IS IT LOUD ENOUGH?....
oh... did I not mention that part?? it totally is HAHA!
If it winds up not being loud enough to cut through in a band situation, just run a cable from the effects send straight into a Pedal Baby and you gots a 70/100 watt beast!
