The world would be so much better if there were more empathetic, compassionate and inspiring people in it like Sam Richards.

Em 2014 fui convidada a contar minha história de vida no TEDXLAÇADOR, lá conheci Sam Richard e Ana Goezer (uma das organizadoras do evento).
Desde aquele dia nosso propósito com o trabalho que desenvolvemos com as crianças tem impactado cada vez mais e mais crianças, adolescentes e seus familiares aqui no Complexo de Favelas mais conhecida do mundo.
Somos 14 Favelas com mais de 400 mil habitantes e apenas uma escola (oficialmente dentro de uma das Favelas).
Os projetos sociais fazem o que o poder público não faz por falta de dados reais dos dados do quantitativo de habitantes.
Sam tem nos apoiado com as crianças sempre!
Esse ano todas as crianças que o projeto consegue atender irão para a escola com material escolar graças a colaboração que Sam conseguiu através da vontade de colaborar na mudança .

Humble, charitable, and beyond intelligent because his EQ is sky-high and most impressive as an example that men do have invaluable appreciation well beyond anything one might construe as misogynist! Why am I not surprised. I have no issues with being empathetic, and I'd wager my house that I perform actual help to needful people than most people here solely because they need help, I get nothing out of it other than knowing their lives will hopefully get better as a result. At least twice per week I counsel people in addiction recovery, I'm a sponsor for many and have never ignored a phone call, no matter it being 3 AM or thereabout. I've loaned substantial amounts to keep people housed, prepare food packages once per week at a local church. I'm an atheist, by the way, and a husband and father of two great kids. Yet, I'm a realist who prefers logical arguments based on valid, factual premises instead of emotional ones, like this guy and many here have illustrated. I'm not lacking in empathy because I disagree with solutions, you lack either the ability or desire to be objective, listening actively, use logic and reason, and ignore bias and emotion when thinking of complex issues. Pointing fingers and calling names of those who disagree with you while never once being "empathetic" enough to be objective, think using your brain instead of 100% heart, is rather foolish, and to expect me or anyone else to do the same is simply never going to happen. I wish you well.

As someone who has spent time watching Sam's lecture and getting to know him as a person, these kinds of comments intrigue me because I personally can't imagine EVER describing Sam as a grifter.
@@TheRightWay11 just like they throw the word racism around they will just as easily throw the word grifter around. When a boy can be a woman words start to lose meaning in there entirely….. oooo I should write an essay about that.

I've seen some lousy ones, but this is the worst Ted talk Ive ever seen.
His "idea" is radical empathy. I still don't know what he means by that. Or how it's involved in his long winded "what I did over summer vacation"-style presentation. The whole speech seems to just be "I have some friends with hard lives who I think are great, and they think I'm great too".
Fascinating. How is this a new or interesting "idea worth spreading"?
