  • This is a simple project built upon the “Mesh Copy (for quest3)” scene in Takashi Yoshinaga’s “Unity MR Starter For Quest” GitHub project linked below.
    github.com/Tak...
This project uses the depth sensor on board the Quest 3 to generate a mesh of the environment at run time, then reconstructing it and streaming it where desired (including other networked devices such as AR/VR HMD's or a desktop).
Huge shout out to Takashi for the incredible sample code!

I remember my Internet speed on AOL 2.0 dial up. Great memories!

I’m pretty sure it’s called Ice & Fire, it’s part of the royalty free music in CZcams’s music library.

Do you know if there's any way to export the mesh copy it makes?

Yeah totally doable! It can be handled the same way as any other mesh within Unity. For example, I’ve got another demo I’m tinkering with in which I send this mesh to a web socket endpoint that I can then pull and reconstruct onto other devices. In summary though, yes you can and there should be a variety of options for doing so.

@@calebcramThat's awsome! If you get the chance, could you please make a video showing how to do so? I'd really appreciate it 🙏

@@chaoticdreemurr9861 Hmm possibly? What would you want to be connecting it to? Essentially all you need to do is use a standard multiplayer sample project for VR from Normcore, Photon, Mirror or anything comparable, then send the mesh that is captured to the “multiplayer room” of whatever toolkit you’re utilizing. Then any application with that support built in and the “key” set up to access that room will be able to receive the mesh from the Quest 3 and reconstruct it where needed. Due to the variables involved, this might be a rather difficult tutorial to make since there so many things specific to the hardware you want to use and what your ultimate software use case for it is. Happy to try and help answer questions though!

Haha it should be available in up to 720p but yeah, definitely would love it if Quest 3 generated higher quality screen recordings.
