Have been looking at your channel for a while now. Very explanatory and understandable. With respect to this particular video I was able to save some BIG BUCKS. I own a Nissan NT32 Hybrid X-trail and was getting a "High Coolant Temperature" warning and a engine check light. There was also a trouble code. I decided to attempt an inspection and repair. I was able to locate the rotor from a local seller. So I did the task yesterday. Removed the water pump and inspected it as suggested, the rotor was sticking and difficult to turn. On removal of the rotor and inspection the rotor was in fact busted with the white plastic magnet covering cracked open as shown in the video. Changed the rotor with the brand new one. Replaced the pump and everything worked fine. No codes no engine check light. Scanned it and got equivalent pump seed and target speeds. Saved $3,600 on the cost of a replacement pump (as suggested by technicians) less the cost of $350 for the brand new rotor. Do the math. Thanks again for the knowledge!!
N.B. My research has shown me that the part can be purchased on Amazon for an average cost of $30-$40 USD

Love this! my Avalon was heating up and I replaced the radiator cap then the sensor and lastly the engine thermostat. It still heated up I finally saw the CHECK ENGINE light turn on to find out the pump wasn't working. Opened it up like in your video and it was the same tear. Great video man.

I originally was loosing coolant from the reservoir cap so replaced that and problem continued, then changed the thermostat and problem continued, I then replaced the water pump and was not sure if this was even the problem, after your details on the failure of the pump I went to my garaged and opened up the pump I pulled out and sure enough we had the same failure you described, so now I feel better knowing my daughter wont be having to call me to tell me her car has left her stranded LOL. Thank you for the video and you have my vote for great detailed content.

I had the same problem in my 2013 prius. I found out no heat on a real cold day. But when i messed with the air control somehow it forced start the water pump and it worked. Never had overheating issue. I removed the water pump and it was stuck. Replaced with new oem water pump and thermostat and now it runs perfectly

Have a 2018 Camry LE (4cyl) with a similar electric water pump and am gathering information on replacing the pump in the future when it fails. Like you say it is too bad Toyota does not sell the rotor/electric assy seperately. Looks much easier to just replace the rotor assy rather than the entire water pump. Starting to see a lot of videos showing this failure(rotor stuck) of these electric water pumps.

The opening on the rotor assembly was a great move in the end. Now we can understand the importance of proper maintenance s.s. coolant replacement on regular basis.

I have a 2018 kia niro in my garage right now. I believe it has the clutch issue. I took it in to help out . Bottom line with these hybrids is that if you as a consumer finds your warranty run out I believe you should trade these cars in. The repairs to these vehicles costs in the thousands to many thousands of dollars in repair parts alone. Mechanic time on top will be at least 2500 dollars more. The estimate on this vehicle is gonna be around 4 thousand dollars. I am doing it for free. The person is making payments on this vehicle and cannot afford repairs this high. Once again get rid of this vehicle gas savings do NOT compensate for electro- mechanical cost.

please help. prius 2012. random sporadic irreproducible engine overheating. typically, just a short flash of red T warning, accompanied with a splash of coolant out of the overflow tank. splash may be so big that coolant ends up on pass side doors. changed pump, thermostat, temperature sensor. appeared at the time to solve problem, then problem comes again. it was always sporadic. all this happened with NO check engine light and code. some ppl blame on clogged egr valve. took apart the intake manifold, yes, there was some dirt, but not terrible. finally, i got an innova 3130lat and autel mk808bt pro and checked the codes. now i have codes. one of them is P261C "pump B" thing. set autel to watch the temperature and the pump revolutions. short test drive. T reached 100 degC and the pump never moved. target speed was always 0 rpm. I am aware about rotor jammed, and no, my rotor was new when i installed it 4 months ago. the problem seems that the computer does not care that temperature is 100 and does not set target speed.................. what do i need: a new ecu? or reset -- reprogram the computer?
