It is so wonderful to hear ELVIS sing about God and still be appreciated. ELVIS sang about GOD with such tender vocals! It is obvious that he loved the LORD very much! There was never any ‘elongation’ of the lyrics as per let’s say Whitney Houston -making the song ten times longer -but not necessarily better

I think it is called anointed. God inhabits the praises of his people. It was always very special when he sung Gospel music. His voice was very special period. He was concerned if people would remember him when he was not longer here. I pray that he knows how much people remember and still love him to this day. I was at one of his concerts and he just started singing There is a sweet spirit in this place and I know it is the spirit of the Lord. Such a sweetness filled the Omni as soon as he sang it.

Elvis recorded this beautiful gospel on 13 January 1957, just 5 days after his 22nd birthday. What amazing control Elvis already had at such a young age. It is easy to mistake his mature vocals for a much later time. It is very beautiful and it was such a delight to watch all your micro expressions as you listened to it.
