Έτσι για την ιστορία, η πρώτη εκτέλεση έγινε επί χούντας γύρω στο 1969, από μία Σουηδή τραγουδίστρια, σε έναν long play δίσκο που δεν κυκλοφόρησε πιθανόν ποτέ στην Ελλάδα. Τα τραγούδια είχαν φυγαδευτεί από την Ζάτουνα. Θυμάμαι ανάμεσα τους τον "Ανδρέα" και κάποια άλλα που συμπεριλήφθηκαν αργότερα στα "λιανοτράγουδα της πικρής πατρίδας". Ο δίσκος αυτός είχε αγοραστεί στην Ν. Υόρκη το 1969-1970. Δυστυχώς δεν τον έχω πλέον.

Seferis was diplomat and political friend of Karamanlis (leader of the right in Greece and tough political enemy of Mikis in 60s (prime minister during Lambrakis assasination). Nevertheless, during 1971-1974 in Paris, Mikis and Karamanlis became personal friends and then political friends (1974)). The meaning is spiritual-cultural. I do not believe that Seferis would had written something political revolutionary.Seferis was admirer of Mikis's music. He was the one who took the initiative (1959) to ask from Mikis to write music on his poems. This song has been written in 1968-1971.
+bill1821st I think ''Bill' is a bit confused here--obviously an amerikan? 'Right and 'left' expresses voter preference within a democracy. The amerikan-instigated fascist coup of 1967 brought all political parties together--those who operated under the aegis of democracy. Seferis, as an example, by denouncing the military, had his writing banned.
The meaning of the song/poem, in any case, relates to modern Greek history--neither political-revolutionay nor spiritual-cultural, as the toxified bobdylans of the world would have us believe. Simply put, 'a little longer' directly refers to the frustration of having to put up with yet another military dictatorship. Like, this is real, lived history! Totally, wow!
