Donal, thanks for this recipe. Butter Chicken is one of my all time favorites but never had the balls to cook it. Until now :) Gave your recipe a go yesterday for a lunch with some friends. Very simple to make and everyone loved it.

You should also try adding half teaspoon of crushed dry roasted kasuri methi(dried fenugreek).

Yes I was gonna suggest that as well. A little bit of crushed or powdered fenugreek leaves. Its a gamechanger👍

+PhantomAct Hi, the dish would always be a lil reddish than brown.. and as likely said its coz of paprika and tomato puree.. being an indian i know how our curries look! :)

making this ASAP omg drooooooool. indian food is always so intimidating because of the long list of ingredients and spices you often need. but this seems pretty simple.
I tried this - it was delicious! My parents come from Bangladesh and were fantastic cooks, but never made butter chicken at home, we always ate it from take out. Now that I know from you how to make it, this will be a stable. Thanks Donal

Kind of but the chicken needs to be grilled either in a traditional tandoor over, conventional over or on a grill pan.

This is great stuff I like to add green peas in there aswell I don't know what it is but they go so well with this or any form of curry really.

+Donal Skehan I like using the breast meat, and I use my homemade mayo for marinate , also some cayenne and spicy curry powder added :) and clarified butter (ghee) instead of regular butter

I completely intend to make this. I just going to make it with soaked blended cashews instead of dairy. I love the blend of spices you have and I'm so excited to update the recipe that I have.

Just made this, me and my husband found it great! Beautiful flavours, it felt like we were in a fancy Indian restaurant, although it took some time for chicken to cook nicely and evenly. I will definitely make it again for my family, thanks for a great recipe!

Thank you for your wonderful recipes, I have tried your one pot pasta dish, what a winner, I am nearly finished making your butter chicken, smells delish! What I have noticed with both these recipes is that your videos and your written recipes don't match, I used the recipes for the ingredients (that aren't always the same) and for the method I kept watching your videos for how to make them. Still awesome wonderful recipes and just what the doc ordered for winter, thank you from South Africa.

That looks really good. Very simple and straight forward recipe. I make Butter chicken often. The only thing I suggest doing is blending the sauce in a blender/food processor to make it smoother.
