To all my fellow Indians, I totally understand the angst and agony when you see an Indian recipe in an untraditional way. But why do you expect a Irish guy to make an Indian recipe totally classical? Also, Donal you're doing your best and I totally Loved the recipe ;-)

Incoming angry Indians saying this is not authentic biryani. Guess what? It's not! This is a fast and simple way of making it, if anyone wants any more flavour, they can buy the biryani paste or masala from the stores, idk if you guys in India make your own at home, not everyone has the privilege of having every ingredient in their country, we buy ours from the supermarket so yeah, haters back off.

Cooking is an art, and just like with any art form, each artist (or chef in this case) is able to use creative liberty to put their own spin on it. While the recipe may not be “traditional”, it still manages to capture its essence while simultaneously offering the viewer a fresh perspective on the dish. I think this was well done!

I dunno, I've lived in italy and I too would say this is an indianised risotto using basmati instead of arborio. Maybe a kinda hybrid between risotto and biryani. Think about it, onions cooked, like a soffritto, then the rice is fried like the tostatura. Then its cooked in broth. But there's no matecatura and the rice was prewashed to remove starch which is more like Indian cooking. Pretty interesting recipe, I can't wait to give it a try anyways.

This seems more like a pulao recipe than a biryani one. Not just because of the one pot thing but also because of the spices used. Pulao usually has milder spices like the ones Donal used compared to the strong pungent ones used in biryani, but it's still delicious and a great recipe to know. Pulao is also another favorite in non-veg South Asian households along with biryanis and kormas. Thanks for sharing, Donal!

I apologize for all the hate you are getting Donal. You don't deserve it, but people have no life and need to feel self righteous over food even. That's what happens when they can't be open minded, or read the damn title, or hear you say it's a quick and easy way to make something tasty. I can't wait to try this. You would think it would be common sense for people to go home and make their butthurt version of their precious biryani but they have to express indignation or else the sky will fall. Keep doing what you do best and ignore the losers.

Did people realize this before they go hating on him for something that is so trivial, which is consumed in a few minutes and gone, like, taste over authenticity should win every time. Just because it's a dish your country is proud of, doesn't mean it can never be switched up for a meal!! WTF?! It's so pathetic when a man is attacked for trying to help us make a quick tasty meal. RandomnessLOL I actually enjoy the broth rather than dry and he did say it's not the "traditional" Biryani.

Indian Risotto 😋😋😋 yumm .. this iss soo Simple and very handy .. Dunno when I’ll try cuz I don’t know how to cook a rice without a rice cooker .. If I had too cook without rice cooker , I’ll use the old technique, just lik cooking a pasta but this one I don’t know, nor the ratio and I’ll burn the base rice cuz this dish had liquids in t .. guess u gotta reduce the quantity of the stock ... I have always stuffed my rice dish when I tried this method 😬

How did you know your tongs were going to work? You didn’t give them a few test clicks
