- In this video, we will check out the newly released Seiko Alpinist for 2020. The Alpinist gets some new colors, new straps, and most excitedly, a new movement. The 6R35 movement boasts a 70 hour power reserve!

Thank you for watching.
Man! The fact that you are not going to be selling these but you are still reviewing them says A LOT about your commitment to service!!
Congrats and thanks for your honesty!
Thanks Oscar!
I’d just like to say that I bought a watch from you maybe 4 years ago. The after sales service you provided on a sub £200 watch went beyond what id expect from a £20,000 transaction. I won’t go into specifics because I wouldn’t want others to expect the support you gave me but honestly it’s the best service I’ve ever had anywhere for anything. I urge everyone and anyone to buy from this guy.
Its a little bit pricey but has a better movement and is still aesthetically beautiful!
The colors are great, and the movement is excellent.
Marc, you're a straight shooter giving an unbiased review of watches you ain't even selling. That's why you're a trusted internet retailer and why I bought 4 watches from you in the past. . I love watching the second hand go past the cyclops. I told my wife this and she said "that's what turns you on these days"??!! I guess I'm gettin' old..
Luigi Savoia: I bet a nice BJ also still floats the old boat.
thank you
could never bond totally with my SARB017 loved and hated the green, one of the few watches I have ever sold; seen the black Alpinist and my jaw dropped.....got to have and for £520 in the UK (rrp £650) too good to miss. Nice vid and respect as you don't even carry them!
I agree with you, they are good looking watches, and yea the price is a little high. However, I really wish that they did not put the "X" on the dial.
I can agree there.
*glass shatters* sigh. 100% right on this
I'm fine with the cyclops making a comeback, but if you're going to magnify the date at least go with a black date wheel on the green and black dialed variants.
okay, thanks for watching!
I have the sbdc093 it's my new favorite seiko. That 6r35 is pretty darn accurate.
Timothy Azbill I have the SBDC093 too- what a stunner! Currently wearing mine on a Barton’s coffee brown alligator strap...gotta be the classiest Prospex ever!!
@@willardhooton920 You can match it with so many different colors. That stock green matches my army green 4 runner
Nice! And 70 hours!
I have the white dial with silver (SBDC089), it’s fantastic. Rock solid, lovely looking, and a highly accurate movement with 70hr power reserve. Been very impressed so far. I had a Sarb017 for about a year but sold it, I much prefer this version. The movement is better and the colouring is better looking and more versatile. The case is identical so it wears exactly the same as the Sarb version.
Well everything is an opinion. For me the sapphire, display back, better movement and better strap is a whole level better then the previous Alpinist. This watch is quite beautiful up close. The finishing looks better then the previous version. Its worth a higher price and generally, as with the new Sumo, Seiko is making its models higher quality, whilst still keeping the lower range, like the 5.
I think Seiko hit a home run with both the white and black dial versions. At 200m water resistance, sapphire on both ends and a 70hr power reserve .... this is a great all-rounder!
Thanks James.
Still loving my 017, gives me an explorer feel, great allrounder.
I love mine too. I bought two of them because I knew they would be hard to replace if I ever had to. Both are in pristine condition. One has a bracelet from Strapco and the other has a leather alligator band with a deployant clasp. Just bought a brand new SARB 033 to go with them. You get a lot of watch for the money with these.
Checking your other video on "How to use the compass bezel on the Alpinist" , it looks like you need the sun to use the compass bezel. Lume on the bezel wouldn't do you much good when you're stumbling around the woods in the dark.
I like lume!
@@indramatic Polaris at night and lume on a watch for finding your way. That's very funny.
This watch is not a magnetic compass.
You don't need a compass on a watch to find north with Polaris. You do with the sun (actually you can do it without the compass bezel, but you do need the watch).
I frickin' love these watches! Especially that beautiful little number with the deep pearlescent dial, gold arabics/indices and green strap. I don’t like the price much, but I can’t afford the previous Alpinists when they were @ $500USD anyway!
I honestly can't see why anyone would wait a year + give their $ to Rolex (at their current ridiculously inflated prices) when you can buy this watch and a car for the same $.
Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for checking it out.
No bullshit reviews - this time of a watch you DON'T even SELL??
How could we not love what you do Mark?
I don't get the cyclops. The whole point of it is to appeal to the more seasoned customers, like myself, whose near vision isn't what it used to be. But then the pair it with tiny print on the rotating bezel that I couldn't read if my life depended on it.
Haha, I see that!
Rev_Logos Right?!... smallest print ever on insert- so small that it doesn’t even bother my OCD when it’s off mark!
Rev_Logos: Have you ever seen the most popular Rolex ever, the DateJust? "Just" sayin' . . .
Seiko discontinues old watch lines and re-issues them higher price.
My ex-favourite game dev companies(but also many other software development) are firing their employees and re-issuing the jobs either for lower pay, or same pay but more responsibilities.
Is there a trend?
Yep, software certainly. Also across all IT/tech. Semiconductors, engineering. India => U.S.
See HSBC currently, cutting 35,000 employees in the next 3 years. However, already hiring for the same positions on their career site. Fire employees with tenure, hire new employees at much less pay, seems legit?!
Yeah. Capitalism.
What's old is new again!
@@gsabella4 but yet you guys in the US are so anti unions for some bizarre reason....go figure!
Love these!!! Thanks for sharing! I've been on a white dial kick lately, but the black one is exciting.
Sure is.
Who needs lume on the compass? You need to have Sun visible in order to find your direction, that is not a magnetic compass. It is useless at night. You don't even need compass markers to be able to tell directions, in the first place, because you can do that with every watch, using only hour hand and 12 o'clock marker. But, ok. I like the design.
Ackshuyally, if either of the polar stars are visible, nothing but the lack of lume is stopping you from using the compass ring at night.
@@Spurdospaerde692 you don't need a compas at all. Only hands and idices. Compas bezel is a gimmick
These are nice watches but I'm going to wait to hear about the 6R35's performance before I seriously consider purchasing one.
Okay, thanks.
I just bought the green dial version (my first Alpinist) and was amazed to find it maintained perfect accuracy the first 24 hours - didn't lose or gain a second. I've never owned a watch regulated so well. At 48 hrs, had lost one second. Very pleased.
Eisenhower42: I am not surprised and you deserve to be pleased. My Turtle with a 4R36 keeps COSC time, from the factory and unregulated by me. About +2 per day. It does not have the Spron mainspring or the hair springs like the 6RXX movements do (Grand Seikos also use this alloy) and yet it matches Rolex and Omega dive watch accuracy and depth ratings. Seikos are just as reliable and durable as Swiss high end movements.
I hear that movement is MUCH better than described in manual
Seiko isn't putting these clasps on backwards. If you use a deployment buckle, this configuration actually makes it a lot easier to guide the end of the strap through the keepers. 🙂
It's backward to what my viewers are used to :)
@@islandwatch I'm one of your regular viewers, and it's definitely not backwards to me. I get that it's uncommon, and ultimately subjective. I'm simply trying to provide an additional perspective, as a complement to your video.
I'm certain you know far more about watches than me, but there are always perspectives that even experts haven't considered.
A lot of reviewers seem quick to dismiss this configuration as Seiko putting it on backwards, simply because they aren't used to it. However, I believe a lot more thought has gone into choosing to put the strap on this way. From my experience, it is a lot easier to guide the strap through the keepers, especially for people who aren't used to deployment clasps.
Perhaps it's something you can consider, and maybe even mention in the future should you find it to be true.
Either way, love your content. Cheers!
I always really liked the look of the alpinist, minus the redundant compass chapter ring. It clutters up a beautifully designed watch. The cathedral hands, the gilt option and sunburst dials are stunning.
Thank you
The white dial with silver is gorgeous. Don't like bright silver or stark white dials, but cream dials are so nice. I have a SARB035 and it's so classy. I don't like the two micro adjust on the bracelet however, it's either a little too tight or a little too lose. I could get a strapcode bracelet or just clasp and solve that problem and I might someday.
The 2 position micro is a source of contention.
Could you do a video for us older guys whose eyes are not what they use to be! Highlighting watches that are easy to view! I don’t dive but have recently bought a few divers for visibility. But date windows can be a struggle.
Yep! I have a Casio mrw200 for an easy read. Not exactly dressy but needs must!? My "posh" pieces are a blur! Cheers.
Ball Watches are great for visibility due to the tritium micro tubes - many classy styles and we’ll built!
Okay!
@@islandwatch Your Islander #ISL 11 & # ISL 14 look like they would be fantastic day or night. Also looking at a classic field watch like the Seiko SNZG watches. Thank you for your help.
Wow, they second offering got me on the dial. It on camera at least sunbursts between silver and champagne? I love being "old"! Cheers! Len.
That not they! Spell check!
Thanks Len!
Champagne/gilt = best Alpinist 👍
@@willardhooton920 Looks classy!
Seiko is bringing back a lot of their old collection lineup... Along with fresh updates too
Yes, they have been doing this for a while now.
just find out about the alpinist yesterday, crap, too bad you guys do not sell them coza I am looking for one,the creamy one with the green strap, and I trust this guy.damn.
Good review but may not have mentioned the beat rate of the 6r35. What is the beat rate of the new Alpinist?
I agree the Seiko Prospex 2020 'Alpinist' SBDC091 / SPB121 continues to be a great looking time piece. The classic gold numbers and hands on the green dial just work so well together. Is this the same green as the SARB017? It looks close. I really liked the SARB017 green. I would prefer that the strap be smooth like either the SBDC089 or SBDC093 but retain the same brown color.
I have never liked the compass ring. It is just an unnecessary addition that really doesn't serve any useful purpose that couldn't be achieved in other ways. It's only a fancy Boy Scout trick for aligning North to the Sun. The knob for the compass is an unnecessary perforation of the case, requiring a good seal and potentially affecting water resistance. The knob is easily bumped, allowing the compass ring to be knocked out of alignment anyway. (This is why you never see the compass oriented the same way twice in any of the images or video shots.) The compass degree increments are very small to read and there's no luminescence on them because it only works usefully during daylight hours. The tick marks on the compass ring could induce confusion because they are differently calibrated (spaced) from the clock tick marks. A better use of the outer ring would be to make the lume larger and maybe continue the minute tick marks up the side. Removing the compass would reduce manufacturing coasts, reduce weight slightly, reduce potential water ingress and simplify a too busy but an otherwise very attractive watch. The money saved could be used to improve the often disparaged strap quality or maybe add a GMT function like on the Seiko SBGE033 and/or add a power indicator, or even to lower the price.
The lume pips are all the same small pip and it is hard to orient the 12 position without a distinguishing mark of some kind (especially on the black dial, no numerals, SBDC087 / SPB117J1.) Even the three o'clock position is lummed, so it can't be an orienting reference.
As an older consumer with diminished eyesight, I'm very impressed with the strong cyclops diopter and the ease with which the date can be read casually without having to pull out the reading glasses. It's nice to have the cyclops on the inside surface rather than on the outside like the Seiko Mini Turtle. Also, glare is only reduced partially via an AR coating on the inside (backside) of the sapphire crystal (and cyclops). You still have to deal with first surface reflections off the front surface of the crystal.
With my larger 7-7/8" wrists, I like the wider, almost 40mm width (39.4 mm width according to Seiko specs - Mark states it at 38mm.) At 13.2mm it's thicker than the 12mm of the SARB017; maybe due to new display caseback. I prefer the thinner profile if I could get it. The display caseback (Hardlex?) is unnecessary, but I can live with it.
This is a 3 Hz (21,600BPH) movement. Six tick marks per second (fine scale) and one tick mark per minute (intermediate scale) is a welcome improvement (and makes infinitely more sense) on the dial in regards to time keeping. The second hand should skip every other tick mark and the minute hand should register one tick mark every 10 seconds on the fine calibrations. (The SARB017 has 5 tick marks/sec. which doesn't really make sense for either a 3HZ or 4Hz timing, nor does it work for the compass; 25 tick marks for 30 degrees of azimuth.) What has changed for the better is now each tick mark equals one degree on the compass (30 tick marks / 30 degrees of azimuth.) But who needs such precision on a compass that is easily bumped out of alignment, and so hard to read and align with topography anyway?
I wish Mark would just set the watch down for a few moments and zoom in so we can count the ticks per second and examine the details closely without him fidgeting with the watch to the point of distraction. Seiko chapter rings have been known to be misaligned. It would be nice to see if all 3 hands are aligned dead nuts on the 12 o'clock position. Isn't this, after all, the reason for having hacking as a feature? You can set the second hand to the 12 position, align the minute hand on the proper tick mark and then click the start function when your calibrating clock reaches top dead center (so to speak). That way, your minute hand is not half way between tick marks when the second is at top dead center at the 12 o'clock position. (With a +25sec -15sec accuracy, and some complain of worse, maybe this is deemed irrelevant?)
I'm okay with the SPX logo on the dial, but it would be better without it. This is an "Alpinist inspired" watch in the Prospex line-up, not a true revision of the original Alpinist. I would make sure there is adequate contrast on the dials for ease of reading. (Again, diminishing eyesight but money to $pend.) Silver numerals on white dial is difficult and red typography on black dial is also difficult. Think red SUN on black background, seen on many day complications. Very difficult to read.)
The price hike is a reflection of the reality of the current state of affairs in the global economy (like the Rolex price hikes). The currency in Japan has been losing value for 30 years, so their costs are rising faster than the exchange rates. With all the national debt and central bank money printing, all currencies are losing value (relative to gold say.) A significant inflation will soon rear it's ugly head (even for the strong US$) and these prices will all seem very reasonable in a few years. The Alpinist claim to fame was it's very low price originally. The attractive dial helped for sure, but now that the prices have risen, the value proposition has faded considerably.
I might consider this watch if they got rid of the compass, added a hard AR to the front surface (so both surfaces are AR coated), reduce the thickness back to 12mm, and maybe provide a better strap. The design style is awesome but the value proposition has been lost. It's now too pricey for it's intended use. I think my Hamilton Kaki King will be my new hiking/mountaineering watch.
------------------------
If Seiko were to reissue the SARB017 Alpinist, I would like to see the following mods:
SARB017 Alpinist branding on dial front, get rid of -Diashock 23 Jewels-.
Original Alpinist branding (Seiko Mountain or Mt. Fuji?) on the solid case back, which might help to reduce width back to 12mm.
Get rid of the compass, thus saving manufacturing costs and reducing water ingress, extra stem, and maybe reducing overall width from 13mm to less than 12mm.
The gradations on the perimeter of the face dial should be three fine tick marks per second (or maybe even none) on the outer scale to match the 3Hz beat rate. One tick mark per minute on the intermediate scale with the usual heavy markings at the hour positions and also more lume at the hour gradations. If the compass is retained, each tick mark would be equal to two degrees of azimuth.
(Hamilton Jazzmaster used to have a 4Hz movement and the tick marks were 4/sec. Hamilton reduced the beats to 3Hz but never changed the dial markings to 3/sec. On the Kaki King the tick marks are 5/sec with a beat rate of 3Hz. This seams to be most common in the industry. Once you're aware of it, you can not, "not" see it when looking at watch specs and dials.)
Keep the 'syringe' tips of each hand as they are, (seconds, minutes, hours) to reach each respective diameter of the corresponding gradation rings as they are on the SARB017. The hands themselves are just fine and need no revision; they are so vitally integral to the styling that is very attractive.
Maybe add a GMT function like on Seiko SBGE033 and/or add a power indicator.
Thanks for the review and to all the commenters. I'm learning a lot.
...
Thanks for the awesome insight.
Long Island Watch. I think Ive also just learned a lot.
That cream dial and gold accents is beautiful. Do you know of anything similar to that?
Think the diameter is more like
I measured between 12 and 6 on this one.
Long Island Watch Intreasting...a lot of confusion on size with this one but hey, you measured! (6:00 to 12:00 is the way to go👌)
At that pricepoint it really seems Seiko is trying to cash in on the Alpinist-hypetrain.
for the same price there is hamilton khaki murph, just think about it ahah.
The Seiko Cashinists
@@diablo2punk the funny thing is that the price doubled but the quality has the same QC issue. misaligned all over the place, lol.

Mark whats up with the wink to the screen, are you selling em on the down low or what?
Great FREE advert for Seiko!
Good editorial!
I’ll always regret selling my sarb17 for $200 😭
Wow! That's crazy
Don’t need the compass to light up when you can only use it when the sun is up.
This is a really nice watch, one I would consider. Thanks for the video. M.
Thanks.
Should i get this or anorher sarb017... yes another just in case i bang or scratch the one im using....
Thanks Mark for the great review, I still prefer my SARB017 with the older movement and green dial, especially for the new price.
You're welcome!
Mark, is the new green dial *exactly* the same hue/texture/sunburst as the now-classic SARB model?
(presumably it comes from a new production line, if the diameter is slightly different)
I'd love a macro comparison under the same lighting...
I'd like to know this too.
Marc, I didn’t hear you mention that the indices are different on the black dial version with bracelet than those on the other three?
Went un-noticed by me!
good locking watch? yes

Aw shucks
I love these watches, but I am particularly in love with the green dial variant. Something about the green face and the gold hands and indices that catches my eye.
It just works, right?
It's a timeless color combination that has stood the test of time. Classy! I have the original SARB017 and it just has that je ne sais qoui.
get the SARB017 instead. you’re only losing out on the power reserve, but they’re much cheaper and better looking. i got mine used for $300USD.
Your talking about watches you won't be selling plus that overcomplicated way of indicating the numerals on your wall clock, speak a lot about your passion for these things. I wish I could buy from you in Ecuador!
Love the channel! Thank you for doing the review even if you wont be selling them bad boys
Thanks!
Question...are there two different models for this watch? If so what is the difference? It is a beautiful watch and I want to buy the right one. SBDC087 vs SPB117j1. Example...today on Amazon the SPB117J1 is $831.00 and the SBDC087 is $651.00. Both are made in Japan. What do you know? Thanks
What's your pick of the litter mate? I'm divided between the green/gold dial and the champagne/gold one
I wish they'd color coded the date wheels to the dials. The green and black dials need a black date wheel.
Great and useful review!!
I'm seriously considering buying this or the Presage Mockingbird. Which of the two would you go for?
Just ordered my first watch, I went for the cream and gold which interestingly enough is an online exclusive from Seiko boutique with a different model number (SPB123J1) I cannot wait until it arrives! I had my heart set on a Bulova curv in rose gold, but I saw this and needed it so much more! Thanks for your honest reviews and entertaining videos 👍
That 089 is one of the best looking seikos I've ever seen!
I wonder if the increased price is so they can provide more discounts making it seem like a better deal.
That black dial Alpinist is beautiful. Shame about the 38mm though.
38 is great! Not for all though.
@@islandwatch I have 38mm, 40mm and 42mm watches. 40mm is absolutely perfect. 38 looks small to me. I think 40mm is the perfect compromise.
Seiko is selling high prices nowadays
yes
To be honest it is a strategy that the watch makers have to take to stay in business.
I need the alpinist with the green dial...it’s hard to find anyone selling them unless brand new. I’m sure the price will go up in a couple of years.
The new Alpanist is a lovely looking watch
Thank you.
I am feeling the white dial with silver markers.
Pretty cool.
Hey Mark, I was wondering about the bracelet you had on the SNA411 which had the SEIKO logo on it. I gotta say that really smartened the look of the flightmaster. bearing in mind that it must be a 21mm. Where can I get my hands on one? Thanks. Great video as usual 👍.
Why are the bands upside down?!!!!
Also I wish they would have the fat hour hands, something much more rugged about it imho
Seiko and Orient do it
They put it "the wrong" way around to hide the clasp and instead showing the watchband. It's an aesthetic thing. Makes total sense when you think about it.
The Cyclops is a deal-breaker!
tom kent I disagree. Its cool. And practical.
I agree as well. It's not cool. A cyclops make the watch look like it was made for old senior citizens with bad eyesight.
@Zachary Suchanek I agree Zach, the diopter magnification is too high. Looks to be about 2x. My Rolex has a 1.5 and seems more proportional since the watch case is about the same diameter. I have the 017 without it and it looks much nicer. Plus they didn't frame the date window either which points your attention to that.
I don’t mean to pry, but what do you mean when you refer to being “allowed” to sell a watch, given that you do sell grey market models?
For some brands he is an authorized dealer and if he wants to stay that way he complies with directives not to sell grey market for that brand.
Still waiting for the Coke bezel Mark
OK!
Would have been cool if you had a SARB017 to compare. They say the new one has a darker shade of green.
Marc do the Strapcode bracelets for Sarb017 fit these new models?
Strapcode says they will. As does the Uncle Seiko brackets. I just put one on mine.
I'll let you all know!
Be sure and check with Strapcode directly. There are slight differences even among seemingly same models. I bought a Strapcode for my SARB 033 and they specifically say it won't fit the SARB 035 with the cream face. Side by side they look the same but they aren't. The SARB 017 has it's own part number too. I have one on my 017 and I love it. Much better than the original Seiko bracelet.
There is no need to lume the compass, since you line it up to the sun...unless you can line it up to the moon?
LOL. Just thought it would have coolness factor.
Geomancer LOL 😆
They are beautiful. Glad I got the old model before the prices went up. The older I get the more I appreciate the Cyclops though.
I hear that!
lovely stuff
Thanks!!!
If the screw to release & close main crown adds water resistance, why would the non-threaded crown tube for the rotating compass NOT compromise or reduce the water intrusion resistance? Is there a watch anywhere with only a push & pull crown which DOES receive a 200m rating? Seiko knows about water resistance as well as any dive watch maker (evidence: Sumo, Turtle, Marine Master, Monster, etc.) and I doubt they would assign a 200m rating casually. How is the movement protected from moisture leaking in through the compass crown?
We used to sell a Zeno diver with 300M water resistance and push-pull.
Could seiko come out with this but with a diving bezel. It would be perfect
Lume on the compass would take away from its “purpose built”/“tool watch” credentials, as the compass cannot be used without sunlight.
Good on you to cover a watch you don't sell. 👏
Is the strap water proof? Thanks
Its hard to choose one of them. They all look nice!
Nice looking but I agree they are a little pricey. Thanks for sharing them! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching.

The green was always my wish. But I don't know why I like more the previous model,
there is something wrong with this new one..it's my feeling :)
I feel like they bastardized the watch. Starting with that Cyclops ugh.
Marc is still selling the SARB017 if someone really wants a proper Alpinist
ClaxtonBay123 Amen. SARB017 is a true classic Alpinist.
Thank you.
Well, I for one like the Cyclops on the new one. That said, you'll get my SARB017 when you pry it off my cold, dead wrist.
Historically, cyclops was originally on this configuration (before the SARB Alpinist), and it works very well!
i really like the cyclops tho. You know, age is kicking in
Good work on the Alpinist but why did Seiko omit the numbers on the Black dial version? - very strange but then again pSeiko is very strange full stop.
Yes, quite weird!
Wow those are beautiful. In wish I could afford one!
@longislandwatch how can I get that mesh strap? Is it sold separately? I have a flightmaster, and I like the look of that mesh, but I'm not sure how other 3rd party straps would fit. That one looks great!
It's a 22 that I filed down.
Great video as per usual, Marc.
A few things:
- When I saw a preview of the new Alpinist elsewhere, I could swear it had double-indices at 12 o'clock; some people have complained that having just one can be disorienting in the dark, to which I always say "while it's on your wrist?" Whatever.
- I do recall the 70-hour PR of the 6R35, but I thought it was also a higher-beat movement as well. I know, hard to ask for both at this price point.
The Green One: Pretty, but...(grabs Alpinist he bought from you two years back)...it certainly *doesnt* have the same iridescent finish of the original. Not saying that's necessarily good or bad, but I do like the look of the original.
- Cyclops: If there's anything the new ones have that I wish my original had, it's this. Wonder if that crystal could be retrofitted to the original?
I'm sure the crystal is the same size. Its def a 21.6 movement
It always puzzles me too when someone reviews a watch and says the lume is weak and is disorienting in the dark. Really? A: The watch stem is always to the right and B: it never left your wrist. Even if you take it off and put it on a night stand, the stem is still on the right. Did I miss something?
Beautiful watches, but the new movement and cyclops doesn't warrant an extra $350...just saying. Nice job though and thanks for sharing.
Understood
Craig Sekowski: It Isn't extra, it's market price parity.
@@joeskeptical4762 it's sad that Seiko feels they need to do parity with this level of watch
Hi,
Any dust (inside the glass) and compass alignment issues?
Nope.
Long Island Watch I look at the green one on your video. The N E W S didn’t align with 12 3 6 9 number.
Hey Marc, any exciting Islander news coming soon? Much more interested in those than a Seiko
Of course, but I have to spread the word.
Sigh. Don't like the cyclops or the price. As soon as I get my time machine running, I will go back and buy the previous version when it was still relatively inexpensive.
LOL, great idea.
How did the price change?
Hey Mark, so I'm new to the hobby. I've noticed seiko has a huge following and so does the Alp. I just bought the black dial off the seiko website. I know this model came out this year, but how long will seiko have it on their website? Does seiko normally keep their watches for sale for many years before they stop selling them or will they be discontinued and on to the next variant by the next year?
Classics never go out of style but that is always subjective. If you like it, wear it and enjoy the pleasure it brings to YOU.
Mark, if not a autographed poster how about an autographed pair of L.I. gloves. A little something for my hobby room. Best wishes to you brother 👊
LOL, thanks.
These look like old man watches. Reminds my of my grand father. Not wearing these kind of watches until I'm a grand father.
erdaltv watch for old men and hipsters :)
Your grandfather had class and good sense of style. You may be a grandfather someday so pay attention and listen well.
Me likey the warm rustic cream feel hehe
Hi Mark, I love the seiko mesh on the flighty, please please which one is it and where did you buy? Thanks for the great channel
It was from one of the new Seiko 5's
@@islandwatch thanks 20mm fits ok?
@@islandwatch Mark I bought the 22mm mesh from the seiko 5 and it didn't fit, did you shave off a small amount off the bracelet to fit yours and how did you do it? I have wasted money on it otherwise if I can't get it to fit :( ty
Holy poop on a stick! This vid makes me love my SARB017 even more.
Awesome!!!
38mm? The official page says 39.5mm. I wish someone actually measured the damned watch. Half of the channels say 38mm, the other half says 39.5mm, idk what to believe. :(
Have they grown?
They are 39.5 on the official seiko site
@ThisnThatPackRat chill
Just got mine. 38mm
I like the last one, can get it new for 500€ shall I get it? Can this watch increase in value or at least not be sold for less than half the price when I will sell it in second hand?
500€ is a bargain don't know where you seen this but be careful
@@thijs4005 thanks just bought it
@@frontbattles8090 np have fun wearing it genji
General watch Q.
Why not adjust it to +- 20s?
What is the reason behind ~+25-15s???
Plus most people would rather be fast than slow, so the range is biased to fast.
