- Taking a look at Seiko's all-new Prospex series Alpinist.
This watch features the new 6R35 movement with 70-hour reserve, a new case with 39.5mm diameter and some of the classic Alpinist features that we all know and love.

I have this watch and the old one too. The case size is the same. I love this new black one heaps better. It’s awesome
Where'd you buy your new one?
I think its beautiful watch, which is why I brought one, the black with steel bracelet. People complain of the prices of this watch being expensive? Not at all imo. I like the compass! Not everyone's cuppa, but a watch is a tool and this watch happens to have extra added tool to it, which looks cool! The compass is not the most reliable but it works! In northern hemisphere (where I'm from) point the hour hand (must be correct time) towards the sun, with the watch
being in horizontal position. Inbetween the hour hand (still pointing towards the sun) and the 12 o'clock marker, south will be bang in the middle between the hour hard and 12 marker. May never use it? Nice to know its there!
Where are you going to find a watch with a cyclop sapphire and a 70 hour reserve for that price? People are crazy. This is $2000-3000 territory at a fraction.
you can use any watch as a compass, doesn't need to have a compass on it
The seiko watch is good quality
I love mine only thing I don't like is the compass. The 6r35 movement is amazing

Great review. However it just gave me chill whenever anyone adjusting the date between time from 9 to 3 o’clock.
Great to see a new video! I bought the white dial and like everything but the cyclops magnifier. Maybe I can have the magnifier removed or the crystal replaced. Stay well!!

I also have the cream dial version (SPB119J) , I don't mind the cyclops but I find the leather strap is not suitable for swimming. I am thinking to buy this SPB117J 's bracelet for water activities when needed.
Had the green SARB017 one of the few watches I have ever sold. never regretted especially as I sold it for more than I paid.....after an Explorer but prices are nuts....after an Alpinist in black next to the Explorer I prefer the Seiko tbh.

I was looking really hard at this watch but instead I went for the limited edition SARX073. I still like the look of this one but the SARX073 fits me better I think.
Nice review. This version with this dial and the bracelet looks a lot better to me. Don’t like the cyclops. Still really does not interest me. Im actually very interested in the Willard models they were supposed to release later this year. It possible things have changed beacause of that is going on.

Yes, thanks, I misspoke. The dial does appear bigger however because of the smaller index markers.
Case is exactly the size as the old one only difference is movement case bk and magnifying cyclop
How? Isn't the new variant thicker? Or is the added height coming from the new display caseback?

Yes, I really like Steinhart at that price, superior bracelet and movement to Seiko IMO

Question...are there two different models for this watch? If so what is the difference? It is a beautiful watch and I want to buy the right one. SBDC087 vs SPB117j1. Example...today on Amazon the SPB117J1 is $831.00 and the SBDC087 is $651.00. Both are made in Japan. What do you know? Thanks
I might be wrong but the 117 is for jdm. Either way its a handsome watch and its in my list.
i have the SARB017 and even though i like the new alpinist color schemes, that prospex logo and the cyclops date just turn me off. plus they don't have all the contraversy of the "green alpinist"

Seiko, the king of not listening to their customer base because of their customer base. Seiko could sell a watch with no movement inside and call it the stealth people would buy it up at a premium on the secondary market all the time complaining it is hard to read. Then seiko would re-release the same watch for more than the premium price asked on the secondary market as a special edition. People would be really upset and buy it up even faster . Lol

Not for me. Why didn't they Match dial and date window . I'd rather a no date rather than a glaringly obvious date window ! Its black date window on the green one ! It typifies seiko sor me.... so near and yet so very very far !
i have this one , exactly , plus , blue one , plus two Mings, that a certain troll finds disgusting , according to him, i get rid of everything and get omega man on the moon or and roooooolllllllllex, patek phillip , that i can’t afford, nor particularly care to own
