    You also can just remove the alternator and reach in through the alternator hole and remove the thermostat and replace it way more easier than removing the manifold intake

    well done. Except that i prefer to disconnect the battery. Of course you have to deal with radio memory loss in some cases, but you avoid shorting out a tool with the alternator connection, since you are in close proximity of the alternator battery connection like at 11:50 of this video. Also, you dont want any spark in proximity of a possible fuel leak. I've had my share of seeing the underhood area of a vehicle suddenly burst into flames.

    Best instructional video relating to the B7 passat hands down.... However, he failed to mention after doing the manifold swap there is a strong possibility you will need to *realign the throttle body* if you don't it's a good chance your VW might develop some Dum asz disease and the computer wont recognize itself until its electronically programmed over again. It'll show something like a WOT (wide open throttle) code. Just be mindful! Otherwise awesome video saved me atleast 800$ and runs noticeably better!

      If it is something plastic it won't really matter. But if it's metal you need to get it out or the engine will probably break. Try a long magnet

    What socket did you use to get the 2 bolts out that are under the front of the intake manifold?

    • @howtohermione2
      @howtohermione2  Pƙed 5 lety

      They are called triple square sockets. I forget what size it is. I added a link to buy a set. I think i bought the ones that are $17.50. They work fine

      @@howtohermione2 I used a straight 6mm Allen head on these bolts, no need for anything special except for the long 6mm allen wrench for the manifold. Also the ones on the fuel rail I used an 8mm ball end allen wrench, worked fine.

    Genius fucking design. I've already had to deal with replacing the water pump, coolant flange, lower heater hose, radiator fan assembly, vacuum pump (which I deleted), and the list goes on. This car drives me crazy with cooling system issues, the water pump was the worst one to do. I have a CEL P0118 for temp sensor high input, so I'll try replacing the temp sensor, and if that doesn't solve it, then I'll just have the dealer replace the thermostat. I am for sure getting rid of it once that's fixed, I am done with this fucking car. It should've been an easier fix, but of course you have to remove major engine components. I should've saved up for the GLI instead.

      Yea VW's are trash and Germans suck at designing cooling systems lol. Good luck
