This band is absolutely outstanding, music like this is mind blowing. My reaction was like yours, hard to put into words really. Now I’ve had to go through every Kalandra reaction you’ve done! All great!
You should definitely check out the lyric video of the studio version of this song. It's what introduced me to Kalandra and made me an instant fan. This song is based on a poem that was inspired by the Aldous Huxley book Brave New World, a kind of scifi parable about the rise of fascism written in the early 1930's, and more relevant than ever almost 90 years later.
The venue, Kulturkirken Jakob, is a church that has been transformed into a culture church, a place for cultural activities. Build in 1880 in Oslo, closed as a church in 1985, intended to be torn down, but that was stopped. Was renovated and reopened as a culture church in 2000. Is really a lovely place for conserts and such.
This song is based off of a poem, which itself is based of off Aldous Huxley's novel "Brave New World". This is a novel which has always been compared to George Orwell's "1984", in that they both predict a world where an individual's will will become that of the State's, whether through physical or mental torment Edit: As others have said, the lyric video absolutely gives off more of that "Big Brother is watching you" vibe Edit2: Yes, "Kulturkirken Jakob" literally translates to "The Jacob Culture Church". It is an actual church they're playing in, and holy mac&cheese the acoustics in that setting is otherworldly
so the version of 'Brave New Wrold' you reacted here is about two years old. There is also a version from the Gildehallen stream from last August ( czcams.com/video/DtsaiMqPKNs/video.html ). Difference is that in last year's version you have the band with the now (I believe) permanent drummer. Discovered Kalandra for myself about two years ago and I'm being amazed by them since then. Last fall they released their amazing first full album 'The Line'.
All their songs seem to grow on you. Borders seems ordinary at first but then you appreciate the simplicity and beauty of it. And then you get a bliss bomb attack. Same with this song. So much better 2nd time around.

@@Yeedeed My name is Eike ;) Man you are doing a lot. It's just a recommendation, though; there are other artists I will request eventually, if you continue on taking requests. But I waited and no one suggested the videos. Probably because they are dark and most people want to see the light ;)
Joseph my man! Thanks for listening to them, I love this band! It might be blasphemy to the other GVF crew, but I have to say Kalandra wins the "Brave New World" contest! lol

I really hope they get to see your reaction, it’s hard to explain how good they are, my reaction was similar to yours. They are absolutely amazing.

Never heard of Kalandra. Thank you for the reaction. Adding this "songbird" to my lists.

great react Yeedeed! love Kalandra!
I Guess you have already done this one. Glad to see that. Love this one
Kalandra is so good... I like your review on this!
Just a suggestion: "Virkelighetens Etterklang" and "Concrete Landscapes" (both official videos).
Hey you... So I already recorded a Kalandra reaction for the day, and I just saw this. Dangit! I'll get this one added to the list

don't know why but she reminds me of The 3rd and the mortal..
They do a cover of a song by Rockettothesky called Grizzly Man. I think you'll really like that one. Also an Aurora fan.
Hey thank you Rosemay, that sounds cool, I'll add it to my list! Thank you for visiting and watching!
💫❤
The question is, which band has the better 'Brave New World', Kalandra or GVF? lol

@@Yeedeed Everyone is entitled to their own opinion right? This band is killer as well! Id say both bands have incredible singers ;)!
@@Yeedeed I wonder if it would be too much if the lead singer Katrine and Josh of GVF did a collaboration?😏
This song does carry a message similar to a lot of GVF songs and lyrics though.
I was going to subscribe but you stop too much man.
No worries man, I am definitely a stopper
