  • Gillette have brought out a new razor aimed specifically at those with sensetive skin.they call if Gillette SkinGuard
    I come out of retirement to get the first product review of this onto CZcams to describe it's performance and why it should be successfull for those with Sensetive skin.
    I do a face and head shaving review of the product

    I have leukaemia and am on a very effective targeted medication, but I’m getting one irritating side effect....very slow-to-heal infections around hair follicles, particularly if I’ve nicked the skin because of an ingrown hair. Because I’m very prone to ingrown hairs, particularly on my neck....it’s a bit of a vicious circle right now. I just used this cartridge, after about 4 days of not shaving, and I am VERY impressed. I’m 69 years old and have used a lot of different razors. Most recently Gillette’s fusion, with a power handle. With a 5 blade cartridge I could never decide if the power was a gimmick or a legitimate feature, but I like the fat handle and the weight with a battery installed. The only place the skinguard cartridge didn’t want to shave as closely as I wanted was under my chin, so I turned on the power....with this cartridge it is NOT a gimmick, those stubborn whiskers were gone in a pass. Yes, it probably costs more for a cartridge than it should, I’d obviously prefer the cost to be lower, but no other company did the research and development needed to bring this to market, so I’ll happily pay the price. Judging by how well this first shave went, at the very least, this is going to significantly lessen my problem. And, I still got a very nice shave... I can feel a tiny bit of stubble, if I rub against the grain....to me this is exactly what I need. Thank you, Gillette.

No, I don't work for Gillette. As a matter of fact, most of their products don't work at all for me and are absurdly expensive. However, this skinguard works so well that I'm willing to pay it.

      Yes many people push to hard. Wilkinson Sword intended the Hydro 5 Sense with a shock absorber to try to help people. I have had a comment on that video from a couple who swear by it because of the shock absorber (but it is no use to me).
      It's a bit like using a hand saw, the teeth cut from the forward and backwards motion, if you push down to hard while doing it the saw just jams.

    I'm really enjoying my Parker DE razor I bought recently, using a Wilkinson sword blade in it, tried a feather blade for 2 shaves but it was just too harsh and caused lots of irritation on my neck. Once I'm out of the Wilkinson blade's I think I'm just going to buy a sample pack with various different brands of blades to try so I can find the blade that suits my skin type best. Great review of this. It just proves that 1 or 2 blades are more than sufficient to give a great shave doesn't it? Have you ever tried a DE?

    • @GeekOfShaves
      @GeekOfShaves  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes I have used DE, but there are lots of people reviewing these, I went for the niche of cartridges. Plus I find cartridges easier and they are in fact to he most popular form still despite the increase in popularity of DE shaving again.

      @guitarplayerforu Před 5 lety

      @@GeekOfShaves I've been cartridge shaving for nearly a decade but fancied trying DE and now I'm preferring the old fashioned way of shaving, hence why I invested in a Parker, I find a 3 pass shave with my Parker gives me virtually no irritation and gets closer than the Mach 3 does and it also didn't tug any hairs out either. Plus blades are way cheaper too, a safety razor isn't as quick as a cartridge razor but I enjoy the shave and taking my time with my Parker, it doesn't feel like a chore like with my Mach 3 😊
