  • My truck was running a little rough and showing a misfire in certain conditions. I built a homemade injector pressure cleaner to try cleaning them. It worked well so I figured I would share how I made it.

    As little as possible, you did a great job

    I figured it would probably idle 20 or 30 minutes on that much cleaner.. another clever reinvention!

      Thanks!
      It ran about 15 minutes but I started revving it some so I guess it could have ran longer.

      Thanks 👍. I'll try using it on the van too. Maybe flush out some old junk from the old gas in the lines.

    I just happened across your video, JB weld + Pressure = time delayed bomb.
    Hooking pressure up to the test port and not blocking back flow through the fuel pump can be bad news. It would work better to adapt your hose to the pressure side of your fuel supply. And blocking the return line. That chev/gmc runs on 55 to 60psi without damaging injectors.

    • @Mowtivated1
      @Mowtivated1 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thought the same thing....why in the hell is he hooking up to test port Schrader valve

    • @PlumbNutz
      @PlumbNutz Před 3 měsíci

      Fuel pump has a check valve so it should not flow back to the tank thru the fuel line unless the check valve is defective. It could leak back to the tank thru the return line if the pressure applied is greater than the pressure maintained by the fuel pressure regulator during normal running operation.

    • @tombeam
      @tombeam Před 3 měsíci

      @@PlumbNutz if it was an older truck with a return line rather than a regulator on top of the fuel pump assembly, I would agree with you.

    Well done! Old guy that i am, i'd have to be careful if i had that B-12 injector cleaner around ... i might mistake it for a vitamin supplement!

    I was waiting for you to say in hindsight i shoulda wrapped the tape on first lol. I havent had my boat out in two summers, im thinking it wouldn't hurt to make myself one of these, I've been dreading what problems ill have when i do get it out. I used seam foam in it before storing it because i was told it was better than stabil, but still two years sitting im sure it cant hurt to give it a good cleaning.

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  Před 2 lety

      I did a little more experimenting and some grease around the threads works better than the tape.
      One thing for sure it won’t hurt to clean it.

    Great take on a simple fuel rail cleaner. I loved the scenery on the drive in Kentucky. My German shepherd would gladly look at you and ask are you going to finish that? My old dog enjoys eating and digging tank traps. Have you tried any other fuel cleaners you think are as good as the Berryman?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  Před rokem

      I have tried several and Berryman seems to work best. It is of course subjective because the injectors can have different types of impurities in them.
      I would say most good cleaners would work well.

    Great way to stick it to the man Luke! Why pay an insane amount of money when (in your case) you can fabricate your own. I know what you mean about the Cicadas. I hate hearing them in the dog days of Summer every year. Have you had many rides on your Hawk lately?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  Před 2 lety

      LOL yeah, the cleaners online were just containers with fittings and hoses. I couldn't see how they can charge over $100.
      I hadn't got to ride it as much as I would like. A few times to work and to the store.

    SERIOUS QUESTION: Why is this setup with the canister so different than just simply adding a couple quarts of B12 cleaner directly to an EMPTY fuel tank and letting it idle?

    • @lukeFugate
      @lukeFugate  Před rokem +1

      The tank will never be completely empty. there will always be at least a gallon or two of gas that the pump cant pick up. A gas tank should never be ran down that low anyway. It is really hard on the fuel pump to run exposed to the air and sucking up air bubbles. It will severely shorten the life of the pump. I never let mine get below a quarter of a tank for that reason.
      This is a much easier and controllable way to add the cleaner with a known amount.

    Well u wrapped the thread tape counter clockwise instead of clockwise. Pretty sure bub just sayin ily
