Today I went to a very large scrap merchants in Rotherham, and if your local to Rotherham you will know which on it is.
When I got there I believed that I was on a public road, but was informed that it was private property, and they didn't like me filming there. The guy was reasonably pleasant, but he was definitely not happy with me being there.
So when he asked me to leave I did.

😂😂😂 Let’s be honest scrap dealers have never been known for their customer service skills and charm
Like mechanics, they just stare at you as if you've just walked in and shit on the floor 😂😂😂
Half are processing stolen so called scrap so have to act dodgy with all.
@@michaelstevens630
Yes I’ve had a lot of dealings with scrap merchant said I would agree with you
But they have a adopted the skill of staying deadpan throughout all scamming
Steptoe and son
I mean that's probably why they're working in a junk yard lol
One thinks there is stolen scrap metal in there
I can guarantee there is mix the stolen stuff with the legal stuff that's what they do.
I think one may be correct Holmes!
Please look it up and see if it is a private road. And if it is fair enough. If it is not a
re visit and a look all round might be nice ??
There's a 3d view on Google Maps. www.google.com/maps/@53.4283684,-1.3639199,217a,35y,232.01h,44.94t/data=!3m1!1e3
If it's open its publicly accessible, unless signposted otherwise, I work on farms and private property, if it's open with no restrictions on entry (price, ppe, ect ect) there is the right to roam in the uk, if you want to keep folk out you need to stop them beforehand not after the fact.
There's nothing stating its private and nothing stopping entry therefore PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY 😁
"Have you got something to hide"
"Yeah"
"What"
"Business" lmao 😂
Booth's of Rotherham have been there for years. They have scrapped British Rail rolling stock (and still do) as well as scrapping London Underground trains as well over the years. You'd think with the many railway enthusiasts who take an interest in the scrapping of old carriages and locomotives these 'staff' would be more professional and courteous towards someone with a camera.
Did he just drive that unregistered uninsured vehicle on the queens high way
i always thought a forklift driving on a public road had to display a registration plate
Yes it does 👍
@Ben Paulley you are such a pleasant man
@Ben Paulley it has been determined that if a road is accessed by the public then the Road Traffic Act still applies, even if it is a private road. That's why (until the rules changed recently) you could not use a hand-held mobile phone to pay for your food at a drive-through restaurant.
“ Your a bit of a expert in everything else “ 😂😂😂😂
That gaffa was a shrewd guy lol dealt with PJ swiftly
Passive aggressive man but what are they hiding? Stolen cables and piping?
they get targeted by theives. All those thieves who steal metal, what do you think their dream job would be? to steal from a scrap metal yard and sell stuff onto another one.
3:48 don’t want you videoing me as he drives using a phone, already got ya 😂
Shame you couldn’t see the catalyst convertors from there 🙄
🙃😂😂😂
I would prefer to see where the Copper is. I have a Great Love for Copper
and all the stolen lead off of church roofs
The road has public access under section 33 of the criminal justice act 1972. You have every right to be there and to record.
That's garbage.
Auditors claims about sect33 are complete nonsense.
33 Extension of definition of “public place” in Public Order Act 1936. E+W+S. “Public place” includes any highway and any other premises or place to which at the material time the public have or are permitted to have access, whether on payment or otherwise ”.
@@foxbyday4300
"TO WHICH AT......."
It's a public place. "IF" the public have access
It doesn't grant any access at all.
If the public have a right or permission to go there THEN it is classed as public.
@Don't Shoot And if it IS a private road that's called trespass, knobhead !
@@duncanmacleod7283 That's bullshit, you don't know what you're talking about. Another thicko that gets his legal education watching audits.
If you walk a little further up Brinsworth Street to the railway crossing you will find a sign pointing back down Brinsworth Street saying Trans Pennine Trail. That's a perfect indication that it is a public right of way.
I can't really comment much about going further round though, probably Milnmoor Lane, it doesn't go anywhere else so that may be private. But if it is owned by CF Booth then why isn't it fenced off and included in their site? If it is private but not owned by them then it is none of their business who stands there.
They used to allow you in on a Saturday to look at the old railway stock. Not sure if they still do.
Them trains have been there 30+ years.
BTW, it doesn't matter how 'private' the road is if there is implied right of access, i.e: No gate.
@Aiden Logan
Evidently you're still suffering a severe case of verbal diarrhoea.
Those carrigar have only been going in there the last two to three years there mark 4 coaches from the intercity 225s or class 91 sets that ran on the east coast mainline until recently when the new hitachi 800 series trains took over express duties
What would you expect from a bot who destroys Britain's heritage for a living?
Spectacular brickwork there.
They're likely taking in a lot of scrap that is stolen. Cat converters, copper wire and pipe, gutters, a/c units, etc. It's the only logical explanation for the brush off.
Wonder if he's got HMRC or Environmental investigation going on, and that's the reason he doesn't want filming.
Wow the scrap man is another level. Thanks for showing us your interaction
It's top secret scrap lol
You were standing in Brinsworth Street it doesn’t look private to me.
Also Armer street is adopted. Not private roads.
You can't film there as he stands there and watches you do just that.
Fantastic customer service from a complete nanna! No the sharpest tool in the box i must say!
Who was the customer?
@@Audit-The-Auditors could have been a potential customer asking about the site, undercover maybe
@@Nrgodzilla I see, the person hanging around the gate with a camera was a potential customer, but 'undercover'.

I’m not saying that they are a dodgy business or up to anything illegal but they certainly behave like they have something to hide…
Just saying
I would have said "well i will stick my drone up now" and just waited for his reply
Blimey, Albert Steptoe's let himself go ! Nice to see his business has expanded though.
😂
Looks like he has a dodgy business going on there.
Living in the sticks i find industrial sites very interestingThanks
Booth's scrapped a lot of London buses back in the '70s and were visited by plenty of photographers!.
Commercial confidentiality refers to the business dealngs it has nothing to do with you filming from a public area
Its not a private road it's called Brinsworth Street.
the number one thing about the British is they are not pretentious. once a word describes something, it will be used from that point on regardless of the type it is. Americans, on the other hand, change the name for something to make it sound more important or special than it actually is!
Publicly accessible road, so your ok to do what your doing.
Bloody hell lad wanted to see more of the yard, there's one near me it's very interesting love that kind of thing 🐯🐯🐯🐯
Just checked on Google Earth you were not on a private Rd the google camera car does not go onto private roads and it has gone down that street, Brinsworth Street
I know Ian 🤣🤣
Been in and out of there a few times taking railway stock in for scrapping, gate 1 is where the coaches go that are to be cut up at a later date. The road is public, theres a public footpath down the back side and then over the level crossing
Giving him 8/10 for the almost well tailored shirt. 😂
Almost Brian I think his iron must of broke 😊
The gaffer looked a cross between one of the members of the band called The Worzels and an Orc from the Lord of the Rings films
He had a terrible attitude; but no wonder ......"cozz I've got a brand new Fork truck and I won't give you the key"

Private property what a first class 🛎 🔚 don’t shake hand Covid 19 no mask. He’s the sort I’ve got no time for I wouldn’t have been so polite with him.
Looks the sort who live's in a huge mansion, and drives a Bentley ! Bent as fuck !
@@johnfellows2867 and you sound like the sort that likes hating on and envying people due to your inability to do the same
Outside. So no handshake? Big deal. It’s a scrappy where they’ve been turning train mad people away for years. Nowt to hide, they don’t take a few length of nicked copper pipe they have contracts to receive and cut up hundreds of tons of railway scrap amongst other huge stuff. And do you really believe that bloke lives in a mansion and drives a roller? Ffs. He just wants idiots wandering around with camcorders away from the forklifts and lorries. Bet you had no hi vis on. Everyone else woulda.
Yeah Clobber my thoughts exactly 💯 no mask but he's concerned about getting infected!!!
You do realise masks ate unnecessary outside. I'm fact they don't help outside
My favourite gates, in no particular order, are gate 2, gate 3, gate 1, and the hell gate theyre hiding round the corner.
A genuine smart arse
Which one😆
Where's the stolen church lead hidden then ?
Gates 1, 2 and 3 are all on public roads. Google earth shows it as a blue road, accessible by foot or car..... You argue with Hi-vis Harry, you argue with all of Hi-vis Harry's Homies, ho ho ho. Another great video. Stay safe
Maybe worth a revisit with the drone.
Good idea
Drives out on to a public street to use his mobile behind the wheel lol
That street is Brinsworth St (a public street) and is part of the Trans Pennine Trail (maps available online).
3:51 Lazytown bloke Robbie Rotten plus Frankenstein rolled into one.
It's cool to see all that metal but that's a lot but its interesting.
That guys attitude is shocking...
Perhaps they wanted to hide the fact that either the horns are broken on their counter balance trucks or their drivers don't know how to use them or they don't don't give a shit about health and safety.
You could have informed him to be a little more interested in sorting his teeth out. Looks like a pile of rubble sticking out of his gob.
Another high viz arragant super hero.
Working with scrap, and I ain't talking about his job!
Was that Rotherhams ground behind the plant?
Are those floodlights of old millmoor ground?
Yeah 👍👍
Funny how that forklift driver is also signing on the dole!
Yeah looks like a right where's me Giro type 🤣🤣🤣
He's got 1 car 2 car 3 car he's a 4 car ain't he lol
Please come to Dublin to do some of your brilliant work.I love your stuff, your a legend.
If it's private property your only offence is trespass, they can't stop you filming even if you are trespassing.
Sounds like you got a bit intimidated on this one
I think you should do a bit more research re where the public road ends. I would like to see you be able to stand your ground with a bit more confidence that you are in fact on public land.
A quick and eady way of checking if it's a private road is to go on Google Street View as they are not allowed to go down private roads even if they are a public byway so if it shows on there its public. And surprise suprise the road is on Google Street View.
I'm not from rotherham but is that millmoor in back at start
When he told you to move on, why did you move on?
If it looks public to you then s33 CJA means you can go on it. By and large.
Trespass is a civil matter.
I’d have liked to see more of what goes on.
Well if that’s an audition to be a Chuckle Brother he has failed.
Out of the cup, to flippin Rotherham!
Very professionally handled - I bet there is public access….😎
I have my ladder in there.
