I Don't know what it is exactly, but seeing the way the coaches were painted back then really makes me feel a sense of happiness and joy. Honestly, i like the way they were painted back then; with a majority of the coaches painted bright red with yellow striping & the Henry K. Long and open air cars painted yellow. I especially love the way the hello dolly car looked back then, it had a real amusement park look to it; complete with fold in front side steps.
1223 is now in the museum across the street due to a thin boiler/firebox wall. I learned this a few weeks ago when I thought I recognized it as a train I saw working as a kid. I think its a shame she was never repaired, just cleaned up and never returned to service. Why not rotate some of the museum pieces to keep them alive. This goes the same for 7002
@@fsctrucking The reason 1223 and 7002 cannot return is because the RRMPA owns the engines. Strasburg RR was willing to make the rebuilds, however the RR Musueum wanted to "preserve the originality" of the 2 PRR Classics, therefore their fires were dropped.
Thank you for posting this, Greg! My videos and films were lost years ago. I miss seeing 1223 in action, just saw her "sister" #98 on the Wilmington & Western.
@@phatboy3718he’s referring to Wilmington & Western Railroad 98, which is also a 4-4-0 of similar size to 7002 and 1223. However, they aren’t really sister engines, more like engines of a similar type.
@@GregKelton crews hated her and 7312 was said to be a rough rider so makes since why she won't run again and despite its been nearly 11 years since she last ran I doubt Stasburg will need any more steam locomotives since there happy with the 3 they got (4 if you count thomas)
This is awesome. Always pleased to see more footage of 7002 & 1223.
Thank you, 7002 was my favorite
back in the glory days of strasburg...

I agree, I loved how the Hello Dolly car was, it was part of the Strasburg history.

Yes your right, but the present museum only cares about preservation of looks, not working.
@@GregKelton yes, however you can rotate and accomplish both.
@@fsctrucking Yes it's about spending lots of money to do it.
@@GregKelton I'm pretty sure they got that.

Great Stuff Greg ! Just catching up as I am now a Fan and Subscriber ! Thanks !
Thank You, again

Yes, I miss #1223 and #7002. I have I lot of stills of both. I will make a little show of them and post.
Nice
Wait 1223 had a sister? 98?

I remember when 7002 and 1223 use to double head and pulled on the former PRR mainline.
Yes, I have heard of it and seen pictures of it, I wish I had seen it. It must of been awesome.
Thanks for info 👍🏻👍🏻
Better days
1223 stuck on center @ 5:10
I grew up in strasburg, I have some RR footage from 83 if you’re interested
Is it digital or still on tape or film?
You have more footage of Strasburg
Fire up 7312
shame 1223, 7002 & 31/7312 might never steam again
I agree, I think 1223 & 7002 will never steam again. I think one day 31/7312 might put not in my lifetime.

@@evanf1293 Good points
They are continuing on the restoration on 7312, so she will be returned to operation again. Check out the Wiki of the locomotive.
