Well... you've kinda contradicted yourself here. It's likely that she didn't know that her claims were false _because_ "she... didn't do any type of investigation". It was a kind of plausible deniability where her claims were untrue but she intentionally didn't try to find out so that she could later claim (honestly) that she wasn't aware of her dishonesty.

Given that, there was no need for a court to examine her evidence because she was going to lose in any case, regardless of her evidence. She was doing that because, as you said, she wanted to make it public that she was "making those claims in court" while also not having them scrutinized by a court. And losing allowed her to file an appeal, all the way up the Supreme Court (which chose not to take up her case).

Powell used the word "evidence" which implies the facts have been verified. If she meant at the time that she heard things and didn't bother to validate them then she would have said "Hearsay". She cannot back down on what she said and to me that means she believes what she was saying at the time.
You're analyzing this exactly the way they wanted voters to judge the crazy things she said on the courthouse steps. As if what she was saying was a legal argument supported by facts and under penalty of perjury. But she only said those things as a crazy lady standing *_outside_* the courthouse. When she got inside she never said any of those things.
