Hey Stradman, Do you plan on insulating the interior walls in your new house? It would be a missed opportunity on such an expensive home when it comes to resale value in my opinion. Plus, you don't want to hear other noises coming from other rooms when you just want peace and quiet.

Being born and raised in construction it is quite common for homeowners to get excited as progress is made but I can't recall anyone ever being so excited about insulation before, haha.
Can't wait to see James' reaction when the drywall is up as even before any finishing starts just being boarded gets people really excited usually as everything properly closed off finally makes it feel like a home instead of a construction site.
It's kind of neat getting a homeowner POV on the process as for me it's just a job I do every day and I forget it's not a normal thing for everyone to see a home take shape.
The way I have my feelings invested in this house build, its like I'm the one moving in when its done.. I can only imagine how you must be felling, I'm so happy for you Strad..

After building two houses (i.e. having them built), it does look like you are getting close to drywall. Just be ready for the progress to slow down considerably once the drywall is in and they start doing the trim work. That part of our builds seemed to take the longest. And that was on houses that are significantly smaller than yours. Looking awesome, James. So happy for you. Now you will just need a Strad-wife to share it with!

@TheStradman You should install a small 19" Comms rack near to where your router for your internet connection will be and also cat 7 cabling to each room and ceiling in each room before you close the walls in so you can have a PoE switch in your comms cabinet and wireless access points in each room for proper WiFi throughout the house. I would also recommend some network sockets in each room and particularly in the room where there video editing and uploading will be done for optimum bandwidth for this process over a wired connection to your router via the network switch.
And just like that we are back! your house looks awesome

We finished building a house last year. One of my favourite things I did while the walls were open was sound proofing in interior walls, cat5e (do cat6 instead), surround sound wiring in the walls and exterior speakers for the deck.
Definitely something to consider.

Stradman - All exterior walls including the garage should be insulated as that is heated space. Also, add insulation to interior walls/ceilings to help with sounds dampening.
