Today we are trying something new out. Segway, yes, the company that you probably associate with mall cop transportation, sent out something new they are coming out with...an electric e-dirt bike. I'll admit at first I was a little skeptical with this thing but that lasted all of about 1 second once I twisted the throttle. This is one First Ride you HAVE TO SEE!

CJR Sur Ron is $3600, this is $4900 when I did a simple search

There is a company local to me called Onyx Motorbikes. They make some really cool electric moped/motorcycle hybrid vehicles. They are a little pricy but it would be so cool to see you on one. Onyx, send this man an RCR!

Chase! Haven't started the video yet but this is what I'm thinking about commuting on. I've commuted 22 miles every day on a mountain bike. By Thursday I'm worn out. With some street tires would this be good for trail commuting?
Planning on testing the Sur-ron this year, which, if i remember correctly, is the original branding on this bike.
But it sure seems like a lot of fun ;)

i feel like this is more of an electric mountain bike without petals then a dirt bike. still sick but a little slow on the whole top end thing.

You need 2 of these. 1 for you and 1 for Yummi on the next adventure series. They are quiet which means you can sneak away quietly when going to sketchy places.

It's $5000 on their website. Just like all the good hipster products, they just tell customers they are saving the environment by spending more to get less.
You can get a decent 450 motocross bike for that money too and have way more fun.

-_- I have one of these and have made a few videos and they're awesome but this poor girl was in putt-putt mode!! (that was what was causing the lurching while trying to maintain speed).
There are 2 plugs that connect to battery, inside the sleeve of the multi-pin plug a couple of inches there is a looped bit of wire. Cut that and it'll bring it from about 1500 Watts to the full 5000. She will do a full 180 on you from a stop if you're not easy on the throttle. The brake sound is normal if you have oil or crap on them, brake cleaner clears it right up.

For anyone looking to do this TO A SUR RON, wire in a switch that lets you disconnect this cable and reconnect it as opposed to just snipping it. If you snip it, you lose the ability to change settings. The Segway may be the same, but you can change setting with an app so the cut cable may not effect it?

Seems much more like an electric mountain bike than dirtbike. Kinda neat though but way too pricey. You can get a good 450 dirtbike for that price.

Interesting vid. I’ve been researching e-bikes over the last couple of weeks and it’s rapidly changing market. I can see the DIY market is really pushing development in a positive way. I ride an e-bike for work, but with a 250 watt motor restriction here in Australia it’s Government regulations that will let this transport method grow or groan. Much the same as flying a Drone was fine but now you need a licence to fly because of irresponsible users.
Did you test the actual range, 74 miles seems way too high. I have a brand new Sur-Ron it’s exactly the same bike, motor, and battery and I could maybe squeeze out 50 miles of very boring riding. I guess with the fancy app you can probably set it to very boring mode.

Y'all now have to rig up some kind of noise so that the random moose or tit mouse hears y'all comin' and avoid a collision...I feel that more accidents will occur due to this quiet condition...it still looks like total fun and I'm thinkin' on buying a pair for me and my ol' lady...I'd have to learn to ride all over again because my legs don't work due to a catastrophic spinal snafu...I ride a trike on the street...thinkin' of a way that is not a trike...just really miss ridin'...

I've ridden sur-ron for almost 2 years, you get 20-25 mi off-road, you might get 45mi on flat ground going really slow.
The segway will be the same.
