Thank you for mentioning originally recorded by Roy Orbison - you are the only reactor who has done so. Linda Ronstadt's rendition is extraordinary - what a voice!

Happy that you had the privilege to hear her.... there are about 50-100 songs - country - Mexican classics - torch songs and opera that you might consider. ... and enjoy like we have.

Indeed, and don’t forget so many rock hits too, duets and more. An American treasure. Don’t recall other artists to have so many genres done so well

If you want to see how versatile a singer she is you should check out the clip of her singing Poor Wondering One from the Pirate's of Penzance movie that she was in. She hits operatic notes and key changes. Really a stunning show of her singing range.

I was a huge Linda Ronstadt fan back in the 60's and 70's when I was in high school & college. Wonderful voice!

I saw her in the late 70’s and she was the most amazing live performer I have ever seen. Such an incredible talent in multiple genres. Thanks for honoring her. Her lesser known material is actually her best, in my opinion. Check out “Hasten Down the Wind” or “Try Me Again”.

Check out the recent Kennedy Center Honors, Linda Ronstadt was one of the honorees, Don Henley (Eagles) introduced her, a summary of her life and the many musical genres she mastered. Linda wanted to do an album honoring her heritage Canciones De Mi Padre (Songs of my father) was released in late 1987 and immediately became a global smash hit. At 2½ million US sales, it stands as the biggest selling non-English language album in American record history. She was and is phenomenal.

Beautiful tone, great power and range as well. I learned recently that she is no longer physically able to sing/perform. That is so sad .... It's always sad to see someone who was once so young and vital, now deteriorating physically in their 'golden years'.

I can still recall the moment I first heard Linda's cover of this song, in August of 1977. Her voice is just mesmerizing. I finally saw her perform it live in 1999, and it got a standing ovation. It's just one of those performances that make you stop and lean in, to catch every nuance. Loved your reaction! (And may I suggest you consider reacting to Eva Cassidy's "Over the Rainbow"?)

  • @cynthianavarro4316

I saw her once, live (in the 80s). Really, a powerful voice. From her American songs: Tumbling Dice & Blowing Away (studio versions), Mexican songs: from the album Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of My Father): Los Laureles (The Laurels). From the second Mexican album: Mas Canciones de me Padre (MORE Songs of My Father): Tata Dios (Father God) & El Crucifijo de Piedra (The Crucifix of Stone), (studio versions). From Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta, Pirates of Penzance: Poor Wandering One & Sorry Her Lot (there is actual video from a live performance of these two songs! Not great resolution but watchable if only to experience her incredible vocal range, and in an acting role). I didn't feel like she quite captured the Nelson Riddle genre but that's okay, I still love her! Doesn't mean someone else won't enjoy them! I saw her again last year. She didn't sing, she only spoke of her life and experiences. I went out of respect and love for everything she's given of herself, to us. Lucky, lucky, us....Keep Listening! After her, there's still Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush (but then....you may already know about Kate!)

I've only recently found your reactions, but you've already become my favorite reactor...just watched about a third of a video by another reactor had turned it off when took off the 'phone, got out of his chair and dropped to the floor...I much prefer your honest reactions to those overly-dramatic (and, quite obviously, planned) and over-the-top "reactions." Plus, my opinion of you went up when you mentioned that this song was originally by Roy Orbison...you've either done your research or you just have a very good knowledge of the subject, and that impresses me. So, keep up the great work!

Ohhh don’t speak to soon, I have my moments when I get carried away in the excitement of the music I’ll tell you that! However, when listening to more intricate and intimate performances I find it best to pay full attention because more often than not there is an undertone of truth and feeling rarely shown by most musicians. Thank you for your kind words! 🙌🏼🙏🏼
