- Recently me and my brother bought the SONY VX1000, which is a dream camera for every skateboarder because of its unique look. We are super excited rot use this old camcorder now. Which means we are definitely planning to film a loot of skate videos with this camera.

I´m so happy for you having this camera for so little money. I have mine with all accesories including the original aluminum case and just love it! Gotta send it to maintenance as it stopped recording but I plan on using it again soon.

Ohh dude that takes me back seeing that cam. Hearing the noise of the tape ejecting. Ha! I shot a promo trailer with two of these back in 1999 to present an idea for my first movie. Shot in LA and Las Vegas. Got my sister to take one on a chopper ride over Vegas for a shot at night (Got my sister to do it, because I hate choppers! ) Was a great camera back then and such a fun camera to own today. Great video. Great deal you got!

Yes, I use a old Mac Book from 2009, to import because it has a firewire port :)
You can also get a thunderbolt-firewire cable, thats what I use with my VX2100 and MacBook Pro 2014. Works fine.

Yes, it works with Mini DV tapes :)
How’d you convert the mini dv tapes? I recently got a vx2000
I use a thunderbold cable and plug it into my Mac to import the Footage in iMovie :)

That Shop really took ccare of you guys. It was a steal for that package. I always wanted this camera but ended up with a Gl2 and PC100. I would definitely buy one in this condition or a Vx2100.

How are you able to put the footage from the disc on pc or „digitalize“ it?
Hey, I use a capture Camera, an other Mini SD Camera, then I connect it to my IMac with a Firebold Cable and import it into IMovie :) Hope this can help you :)
U can use a firewire cable if u have a mac, if not u can use an rca to USB to use on your computer

@@prodkazzz It should, but the video will be much lower quality because RCA is a poor quality analog connection. Firewire is digital and you'll get the best quality out of the camera.
Does the camera shoot in 24 fps or is it locked at 30?

Great video! It's so cool that the MiniDV format is still alive. I still shoot MiniDV, or should I say DVCAM, Sony's professional DV format.

@@HannesEngl Yeah, I think it's great. The cameras are inexpensive. Heck, you can find some that are broadcast quality at affordable prices. I'm currently shooting with a Sony DSR-300 and a Panasonic DVX-100A. I can't afford professional grade HD equipment. The professional grade MiniDV cameras work for me.

I wanted a VX1000 forever, but I always found it confusing. I watched this back in November and it made me want to start looking into it again! I ended up buying one but I could t capture anything. I finally figured it out a few hours ago! Can’t wait to start putting out VX clips! Ahahaha!

@@HannesEngl I'm planning on going out to film today with it! I only have one clip of my friend because something happened to my other tape that I had a lot of footage on. I can upload it to my channel right now if you'd want to see it! I still have to mess with my fisheye lens to remove the awkward border caused by the sunshade

hey, downloading the footage is not that hard, but it takes time to import it, and I think the Sony vx2000 is great too ;)

A good fisheye for the vx1000 is Opteka 52mm 0.3. Its about 150-200 dollars.

@@HannesEngl Forgive me if you already know this little tip.. or if it is of no use to you.. We are at the mercy of the tape decks.. I am guessing that you have a Firewire out on that machiine as well as AV/Svideo etc., but I was determined to use the Firewire out to a small Handy cam ( Must have DV in..) which would provide a better result for recording straight from the main Camera.... Recording while at home or experimenting.. If the little handycam plays up it is cheap to replace.. In fact if you come across other large cams and the tape Mechanism is not woking you can record from them that way.. It is awkward to do all that on the little Sony DCR 30e however on my TVR 900 much easier as there are play/record keys on top and backlit.. so when outside I can just reach down to an open shoulder bag and press record..

Why ?
Hannes Engl It depends on the condition most people fix their VX. Don’t know too much about it. But I currently own one. Including with the Opteka 52mm fisheye lens. Do you have a capture cam? I wouldn’t recommend playing back nor importing from the camera. It can cause tape to glitch causing that sound distortion noise which you don’t want. I recommend you getting a “SONY TRV900”. So you can import from another miniDV camera. Here’s the link.

No La Nutria? It hasn’t most people sell parts of it. Perhaps fix the camera it’s self. Yeah like I said that’s only if you know what you’re doing. But most are capable of doing that. They are some good Sony VX1000 on ebays between $1-$800 sounds dumb. Got mines for $349.00. It’s dumb seeing people breaking that camera. Such waste of a camera to use.
I totally understand you and a I also heard about the problems with importing the footage from the VX, but luckily my dad used to film a lot on mini DV and so he has another smaller mini dv camera wich I'm now using to import the videos, it works perfectly, thank you for the awesome tips, I appreciate it
