A couple reasons why i think the Vx1000 was and continues to be an iconic skate camera. ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Worst Head Hit Ever!! "click here" • Video ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
That was a really good explanation. It's crazy how relevant the VX1 is in this age of everything being HD and even 60p on youtube. So true about the microphone on the VX, probably the greatest microphone ever in a camera. I just don't get how they didn't remake it still. Maybe they just want you to buy additional microphones but even still no microphone can mimic the sound of the Vx one
+Frogyprod Thanks Frogy! I've heard that the vx1000 was made for desert storm, and the microphone was made to be able to record a crazy range of sounds without distortion such as explosions and gun shots. Maybe thats why skateboards landing sounds so sick.
+Everprod Damn thats crazy, the vx was def ahead of its time when it came out. Still remember Shaq holding one during the dunk contest when vince carter won it back in the day ahah
Danny Jackson Thank you man! Really love it when people remember that video from back in the day! Maybe I'll do an updated one soon ahah. Hope the vlogs I'm doing aren't too cheesy :P
The nostalgia factor on the VX is _seriously_ big. I spent my entire childhood and teens watching new skateboarding videos in VX. It's instilled in my fucking soul.
Great vid! Thank you! As for the other comments saying you are depressive or that you aren't interested in what your saying..fk em. I like that you just cruise along being normal and not over the top like most people on youtube trying to "entertain". I like your laid back style :) Anyways cheers for the vid, all the info i need about the vx1000 and also what you use now. :)
There's just something special about that golden 4x3 perfect vig. I've seen some HD filmer start to use a 4x3 ratio on their cameras and it's an instant improvement Imo. Skateboarding should be filmed in 4x3
I don’t want to spend a bunch of money but I really want a camera that can give the same quality as a vx1000. Any recommendations for an armature film maker wanting to film his friends?
Hey, i have a question, i'm so tired of looking everywhere how export my projects with the vx2100, CZcams get me down the quality and looks horrible, I need to know the format(MP4? mpeg? mov?...), the codec (h264??..) and bps?fps? And the rest...please!!!
apple pro res. always export to apple pro res. jack your bitrates up to a better looking image. If you're worried about upload times on youtube, put it through mpeg stream clip at 0.7mb/sec, lower field first, 29.97fps, deinterlace video. It will compress it and you wont lose much quality.
people are saying the vx2000 is better and an upgrade. do sony do a HD camera today thats as good? i have a panasonic HDC-SD90 which i can buy a 3D lens for but ive never bought one. i dont use it anymore because i didnt skate much after getting it. it also has a wide angle lens. i use my iphone 8 now with 4k 60fps for skateboarding when i can. also u filmed wade? hes my fav dope skater hes a fucking G.
okay, but not comparable to vx1000. Have to mod a mk1 to fit on, always has a small degree of steadyshot present, sound and colours are not as good, but is better with lowlight conditions than a vx1000 is.
Vx looks way better. Even my lil brother who’s 8 who only watches most his content in hd even thinks the vx looks much better. I think people will always want to see the vx1000. It’s more cinematic in my opinion
I started my career on the VX1000 in the late nineties! Changed my world. It was the first affordable camera for indie filmmakers who couldn't afford to shoot on film. Shot a feature movie on it czcams.com/video/LKu7Lw83L-Y/video.html If you get bored.
So funny to hear of everyone talk this up, how good the lens is, sounds etc. It has HORRIFIC chromatic abberation. For the non tech out there look at the purple, red or orange fringing around power lines, edges of buildings, branches of trees etc. Skaters liked this camera because of a) handle b) fish eye lenses and c) ease of use d) 4:3 frames a crouched skater well. The rest is nostalgia and newcomers not exploring new photographic techniques and equipment.
Looks bad when you stretch to 16:9 you should definitely keep it 4:3

+Frogyprod Bro that "How to film skateboarding" is one of the most, coolest video you've ever posted. Been watching your tutorial since 2010!
Danny Jackson Thank you man! Really love it when people remember that video from back in the day! Maybe I'll do an updated one soon ahah. Hope the vlogs I'm doing aren't too cheesy :P
+Frogyprod Fuuucked with your vids my nigga from back in the day. All you toronto skaters were killin it. Much love from Oakland Cali.
Started recognizing spots randomly like, "wait, is this Toronto?" Ha! Solid video.
Rad video man you made some good points in there, I totally agree with you that people got so used to the way the vx looks and sounds
It just has such a classic look and sound, brings back so many memories
The nostalgia factor on the VX is _seriously_ big. I spent my entire childhood and teens watching new skateboarding videos in VX. It's instilled in my fucking soul.
60fps vx looks so good
thanks for your info, keep filming wade d and the boys

i use a canon xf100 still. Keeping up with Hd is harder! thanks for the comment.
3ccd sensors in general produce great colors imo, my panasonic dvc30 is a a few years newer and produces insane colors

What is the canon camera you use now?
5 years later and this argument is still COMPLETELY relevant. It’s nuts!
Where do i buy
what about Canon GL2 or MX2? it's pretty similar and you can get it for cheaper

So what was that one camera you were talking about at 3:21, and can you put a fisheye on it?
yeah you can put a mk2 on it. i've never bothered because i have fisheye for my dslr already and would rather have that be in the danger zone haha.
Yo that’s old skateloft!

Yeah, the vx1000 is unique in several ways, but that fisheye didn't impress
good explanation but holy shit dude at least act like youre interested in what youre talking about
Sick video! But don't say the word so at the end of your sentences.
Vx1000 > HD Cameras now
