    Installation of a One Piece Hambini Bottom Bracket. This is a complete walk through. Total time is ~10-15minutes
    Hambini Bottom Brackets are machined in one operation, they are inherently creak free and provide precision bearing alignment.

    Thanks heaps, your BB shell is a gorgeous syperlight piece of kit that installed into my Factor O2 like a dream. Both faces of the BB hole were dead square and the holes were perfectly round which helped, but this idea of yours kills independent cups for sure!!! A+

      Are you running rim or disc brakes? If Disc, any issues with the rear caliper hydraulic cable? Enough clearance for the hose? Aiming to do the same for my Factor O2.

    Why the BB30 exists in theory has an understandable foundation. But, the precision needed to make it delivery improved performance is not cheap. I have had bikes come out of the manufactures box, with the bb in place and it creaked in the work stand. I always said there is a lack of precision bit thanks to you I can give customers a detailed explanation.

    Great work on BB30 creak analysis and remedy. I have been trying to eliminate creak on my Specialized Tarmac and Venge for nearly a year now. Currently using the newer Praxis design BB for BB30 to Hollowtech (Praxis changed the expanding shell design for expanding elastomer collet), also adding retaining compound, and it works for a couple of months. I want to try your one piece BB but Specialized have bonded an aluminium shell inside, (OSBB to BB30) , so is it ok to pressfit your BB into Aluminium shell and would it eliminate creak? With or without retaining compound. Thanks for great videos on a subject that I have been wrestling with for a long time now. :) Also the removal tools are definitely a better way to remove pressfit BBs.

    I'm new to all of this, but why Loctite 641 over 609? I read the 609 has more "shear strength" whereas the 641 can seal a bigger gap, although surely the gap is minuscule in most cases?

    Nice BB solution. A few practical comments regarding installation (from an average home-bike-mechanic)
    1. Shouldn't you loosen the pre-load cap slightly to reduce lateral stress (or is it angular bearings)
    2. Would a bit of grease under the plastic cap make it more waterproof?
    3. It sounds like the installation put a lot of stress on the side of the frame, shouldn't you cover the non-drive side to avoid marks?

    After ordering both a new Shimano crank set and your Bottom bracket I have removed the Cannondale Si crank but noticed there are cable guide bolts that stick up from bottom of Frome into shell cavity of bottom bracket.
    Am I correct in thinking the new Hambini bottom bracket will not fit because of those bolts protruding into the shell?

    Question from someone new to bike maintenance but had to get up to speed after buying a bike with a BB30. I have been re greasing the bearing every 1000 miles or so and would like a more permanent solution . If I install a Hambini Bottom Bracket will my crankset/chainset still fit or will the axle be too short. What size crankset/chainset will I need? Confused....

    • @Hambini
      @Hambini  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi Joe, It depends on what crankset you have. There are two basic dimensions to the crankset - the diameter and the axle length. Early BB30 cranksets had a 30mm diameter and 68mm spindle. Now they come in 30mm diameter and 90mm length. If you have an early one, you are essentially stuffed - you would have to change the crankset to get anything more permanent. If you have a more modern one, then there are a number of options to try. Hope that helps Hambini

    It still seems to me that there is an extremely strong connection between the outer bearing race and the frame, but almost no attempt to connect the inner race to the crank; the crank just sort of lays on the inner races. Why doesn't the crank just spin on its axis independently of the bearings, in which case the ball bearings would be completely irrelevant?

    • @oftankoftan
      @oftankoftan Před 3 lety

      I don't know of any BB that does what you're describing. You want hambini to develop a force field that the cranks sit on?

    • @baldyslapnut.
      @baldyslapnut. Před 2 lety

      The spindle will sometimes spin inside the inner race, you will see signs upon removal. Quality bearings and finely toleranced manufacturing of the cranks and spindle will reduce the incidence of galling on the spindle.

    I know my response is two years after date, and would like to say that I'm weary of Press Fits, concerning Bottom Brackets in contrast to Threaded Ones, simply for the Ease of Adjustments. However, threaded BB's now a days are considered Old School, which I feel still work better in terms of Installation (no press tools needed) and can Last a Long Time.Press fits have to maintain a very close tolerances between the Frame BB Shell, in relation to the BB Component being Installed, and those tolerances are hard to maintain. Any Glues being used between two High Stress Surfaces will act as a soft cushion eventually giving way and breaking down from vibratory, impact, and cranking forces, in which threaded BB units do not have that flaw in the design!I know Press Fits are being installed on Carbon Fiber Units, however, I think Carbon Fiber BB Shells can be designed differently, in eliminating Loosening, and using Glues of any kind? But that's only my opinion! The Mavic 610 BB Design comes to mind!
