This channel is awesome
No loud music
No commentary
No really long, unnecessary sections
But it does have:
Restoration
Cool camera shots
No finished product in the thumbnail
eh, I like some commentary sprinkled here and there to explain stuff where needed.
@@npc6817 in small doses where appropriate i agree, it can certainly break up the monotony, for lack of a better word. or subtitles.
I agree! I’ve hooked everyone on this channel! More, man more!

At first I was disappointed you were painting it a dull grey color, but then it came out of that oven/kiln that beautiful blue 😄👍
Tonkas were not primed from the factory. Only painted.

Beautiful! I really liked that you didn't show the finished product in the thumbnail. It's fun to be surprised at the end. I'm looking forward to more videos.
A Shipper, I agree with ya. I hate it when they ruin the surprise. The whole point of these is to show the process and outcome of restoring things people throw away. I would rather be surprised with what the item looks like after all the hard work and time has been put into it.
Yes yes yes. Dont show finished product in thumbnail

@A Shipper - I like your point of view and I agree.
@Brandon Gustafson ok
Just found your channel yesterday, and I love how relaxing your work is. No loud music, no voice over. Just the natural sounds to whatever you do next to the parts.
Same
It always amazes me how you can tell how much care and detail goes into not just the restoration process but building the toys themselves. They really don't make them like this any more.
as a kid those bend tabs were too tempting! I disassembled EvErYtHiNg!!! Now I like restoration. Haha at least I know how to get them apart. much enjoyment in watching the toys get restored.
I have a Tonka jeep willy's in my garage that I am willing to donate to you just to see it go through restore, I think is still salvageable.
What do you do with your restored toys?
Did you donate that yellow jeep?

One thing I like about your videos is that you legitimately make the objects you're restoring look the way they're supposed to
No added flair, no incredibly colorful or unlikely paint colors. It's all perfect
You have the hands and firm gentle touch of a surgeon. Your tools are like surgical instruments. You raise Tonkas from their graves and breathe new life into them. Simply magical to watch!
I'm impressed with that plastic windshield. It came out really nice.
Impressive! No bad music, just equipment and finished product! Keep it up!
You mean no CRAP music
Urg, I really hate it when they add music.
Farid Djoukhadji this comment is interesting to see 😂
it's fortunately pretty typical for these guys not to add that annoying bullshit, most of 'em rarely even speak! laying in some awful techno nonsense they found for free is rather a sign of an amateur, imo. a smart person would take their 3M views and not worry about the extra work of bad music, lol.
Does anyone else think the sand blaster is a game changer? I could watch stuff being sand blasted all day and not get tired of it😁
Suzie Johnson yes
I miss your videos 😔
What happened?
I just came upon this channel last night and I can't stop watching it. What a skilled and dedicated artist! I will never look at rusty "junk" the same way again. He makes it look so easy but I am positive it takes a lot of patience and know how to handle a project like this. The transformation is simply breathtaking! I wonder what he does with all the things he restores. They should be in a museum!
I had this toy truck as a boy. Don't know what happened to it. This video brought back good memories as a boy. Thank you.
Maybe this is that truck

Caleb Smithwick thanks a lot! I appreciate you being here from the beginning!
The fact that you cleaned and made the glass like brand new unlike the other restoration channels is why I love your work so much
When that powder coat came out of the oven, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Amazing restoration!
This is probably the most satisfying channel on CZcams.
i agree with both of you.
I hope the next generation is learning this stuff because we cannot afford to lose this level of skill and craftsmanship.
1958 Ford F100 Stepside! My husband has a real one in the garage!
Hopefully it isn't as rusted as this one
Did they do pearl paints in the 50's? Just curious.
yep
Beautiful truck I say. I would love to have one just like this model, same color with polished oak floorboards in the bed, stainless steel accents.
What color is his?
I have been watching your restoration videos sitting across thousands of miles away in India. Kind of satisfaction it gives me is immense. Hats off to your restoration skills. It's truly an art, but it can't be done without having deep knowledge of elements involved in making this restoration possible. Keep up the good work. 👍

Man with that talent the amount of customization you could do with car models like this. I'd love to see a full custom paint job. Whatever you can think of that looks good. That'd be a good watch.
This has to be the best channel on CZcams. What an artist! My blood pressure goes down every time I watch his videos. I wish my weight would do the same.....!
I have this exact truck in "barn find" condition and it looks exactly like this one. Mirror image. It was even the same blue metallic. I was helping a friend at an old house he bought to renovate and as I was clearing the overgrown weeds and brush in the backyard I kicked something and there it was. It's on my shelf sitting in all of it's rusted glory. Been researching how to restore it so this video is right on time. Great job and thank you.
This should help you for parts! www.toydecals.com/tonka_parts.htm
You don't happen to be in Canada by chance?
I would be more impressed if you could get a real version of this truck restored in real life. I wanted to do that to a real life version of this truck, which I believe is a Chevrolet Apache, but I lacked the money, experience (as I was only around 13 or 14 at the time), and a sane and stable stepfather that also had enough money to pay for a proper restoration of the truck. I know that it would have looked nice if it was restored.
I think it's a '59 Ford. The Chevy didn't have a flat hood like this does.
Did yours have a tailgate?
This is what real restoration is like. Unlike the thousands of videos on CZcams that just paint over the rust and wipe of some dirt.

I didn’t find him removing the rust.

Bet that truck has been pushed many a mile.good job.
Perfect color. Perfect restoration. Bravo!
I've watched and enjoyed your restoration videos.
I don't know what happens to them when you finish. I hope they end up in some children's hands, inspiring imagination and play like many Tonkas did when I was a kid.
I have a granddaughter, and she has just discovered the joy of pushing her toy trucks around on the floor, and the dirt outside.

The 1960s weren't that long ago...
This is a 1958 Pickup #2. It was the only year that the truck had the holes for the tailgate and the plain tires (no whitewalls) and 5 round holed hub caps. Great job on the restoration. I did a 1959 pickup #2 for my channel.
I love your restorations for several reasons, but especially because you tend to be more loyal to the original colors or at least the spirit of those colors and that you don't make things shine that didn't originally shine.
The most amazing ing thing is the windshield. I thought it would be a total loss-that’ll teach me to think. Great job.
How could over two thousand people give this a thumbs down ?? Very impressive job !
Literally came to the comments to say the same! Jealousy?
Cause they are idiots who don't know the passion and patience of restoring diecast vehicles to their full glory.
@@franciscoguevara5308 - not every restoration job is my cup of tea (not talking about this video, but in general) yet I am able to see how much hard work has gone into the job as well as making a video. Some people should lay off the online-hate!

So glad you kept the original color! Excellent! Well done 👍🏻
Absolutely outstanding restoration! And I LOVE the way you do your videos! No loud obnoxious music overdub or pointless narration! Just clean editing and letting the work speak for itself! Well Done!
Wow! You are a master craftsman. For some reason, just watching your videos lowers my blood pressure and reduces anxiety. Thank you.
You do such good work, and unlike some others, these are truly in need of "rescue". What I found "funny" was you posted this on my 50th birthday.
This brings it back, had three of the 50's blue Fords. One by it's self and two and a trailer in a set, they were my first Tonka's . Thanks for the memories !

I have this same truck, even the same color, only mine has the tail gate and tail gate chains. Got it from my grandpa about 55 years ago. Paint is faded and tires are worn out, Too many miles. Nice job bringing that one back from the dead!
WE NEED MORE VIDEOS. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST RESTORATION CHANNEL ON CZcams!!!!!
I'm VERY impressed! Everything is excellent: Video, sound, pace of the work, sandblast/media blast and powder coating technique, attention to detail and the results.

Great video. You just do the job - no jingo music, no silly jokes. The simplest toys are the best - and that's a truly epic colour you've finished up with there.
I wish you were still doing this. You were the best by far.
I like what you do, you don’t clickbait or put the finished product in the thumbnail, I subscribed. Nice work.
Holy crap that reveal of the final colour when you took the cab out of the oven was sensational! 🙀 Beautiful job.👍

That's nice

WOW! I don't think I've ever seen a better finish on a Tonka truck, perfect color. And the way you restored the tires is brilliant. Thanks for the great reveal!
Your sand blasting is one of the most staisfying things on You Tube!
You made that Tonka truck look like it just came out of the box.
Buffing wheel in the drill press.... brilliant idea. Beautiful restoration too. I really enjoyed that you didn't use any rowdy background music.
I don't mind background music and I don't understand why people make such a big deal about it.
@kkkllleee... I just stated an opinion. I don't understand why you want to make such a big deal about it.
I thought the drill press buffing wheel was genius!
Background music is fine as long as it’s appropriate for the mood and stays in the background. I like to hear the small sounds of the tools doing their thing, not Metallica screaming over the build...though I do like Metallica😎
Sometimes I like some commentary. Like telling about what being done, type of material or whatever is being used... As long as it's short, educating, and to the point.
Damnit, now it's actually nicer than my car.
Yeah that is a sweet ride, even if we can't fit in it lol.
Watching the sandblasting clips is so relaxing and satisfying!

Bravo! Another beautifully finished restoration.
And thank you for no background music. And no talking/commentary. I do like the occasional explanatory subtitles you add for clarity. Otherwise you let the work speak for itself!

I love that your restorations are accurate to the original color.
Very cool indeed. Wish you could have had the bumper and hubcaps chromed. Looks very nice though.
Ron Weasley I think the goal is to just _restore_ it to its original state, which is why he’s not adding anything of his own to it.
The bumper, headlights, tires, windshield, tailgate and chains are all available in reproduction.
So satisfying to watch!🤗 The oven was my favorite!
Restoring old toys rather than putting into trash, I love that idea
