I'm 96. Had a wizzer at age 16. It came with a schwin bicycle. I installed a centrifucal clutch and a generator that ran off the fly wheel. It was the joy of my life.
I had an original Whizzer when I was 15. It sure beat the bicycle I had been pedaling. Just bought a 1999 modern Whizzer so I could revisit the good old days. I'll be 87 in a few months. Never too late for fun. I drive it, unlicensed, on our rural byways. Call myself the "Backroads Bandit".
I bought an original Whizzer bike with a spare box of parts for the grand sum of $7.00....That's seven dollars USD, back in the early 1960s....It came with a high compression cylinder head and it had the factory 12GA. spokes....Zero chrome....Top speed was 42MPH on a grass median strip in the highway....I was clocked by a guy in a 1955 Chevy....The original exhaust pipe was a flex pipe from the engine to the pedals, no muffler....I sold it for $25.00....I wish I had kept it.
Back in the 1950's my older brother had a Whizzer. Built it up with a WW2 surplus 27 inch heavy duty balloon tire Army bike. Schwinn springer front end, whizzer drum brake on front. Big saddle spring seat, fringe saddlebags, speedo loads of chrome straight pipe exhaust. Beautiful bike looked just like a motorcycle. I was only about 5-6 years old at the time but remember riding on the back of it. My brother told me it would do 45 mph...had a special milled high compression head and a bigger carb.
I had a whizzer repop like yours.big drum on front makes it stoppable. Also, since it has elec.ign.,and mikuni-like carb, they are actually pretty durable. The needle bearings instead of insert in the rod is another plus, since they hold so little oil. The only thing i was disappointed in with it was the small dia.wires and chromed plastic everywhere, but that is a sign of the times.
I have a Whizzer replica like that. It's great fun, but going 40 on it is not for the timid! It's a bicycle. Hard tail and gets a bit squirrelly above 30. It's like very early motorcycles.. Four stroke, slip-belt drive, no gears.
@@utah133 I got screwed on a China doll 2 stroke looking for something a little more reliable, and was thinking of an early 2000’s whizzer. Do you know if they sell replacement parts and if so where?
One thing you aren't considering is that you don't have the brakes to go that fast. The brakes on that bicycle are designed for about 10 mph max, they are pretty marginal at 20 mph, but as you run stop signs and run faster than the brakes can handle, you are really setting yourself up for an accident.
Where I love we have monstrous hills, and I rode a coaster brake bike from the 60s down those every day after school, going anywhere from 30 to 45. As old and used as those brakes were, they never failed me. Never locked up, was always able to keep moderate pressure, and stopped me when it needed too. Only time I've ever had it squeak at me was twice, but that's it. I'd say internal bicycle brakes are pretty reliable from my experience.
In what way? After you hit 10mph you have to really be kicking to give ANY speed at all. And a bike even without a motor has a speed limit a point you hit no matter what (pedal speed limit)
The Whizzer motorized bikes came back into production in the late 90's and early 2000's. Sadly, lack of sales stopped production. They soldiered on making parts for a while. Not sure if they're even still doing that. Anyway, the bike seen in this video is one of those newer bikes. Yes, it is a 4 stroke engine.
its not a kit its an entire bike and it costs about 5-6000 dollars soo your not getting what you pay for really. oh and youll need a motorcycle license to ride one legally.
And it would take away from the top end. Look at the Harley's board racers from '17, the drive wheel belt is almost the size of the wheel. They idle at 45 mph. Nail it..it hits 125 like now !
dude blowing through stop signs even in a quiet neighborhood is not a good idea any time, on anything, let alone this thing where you have absolutely no protection. A slight gear or pulley change would make it less busy at 40.
I guess you think you don't have to stop at stop signs where you live and there is a reason why they have a baffle on them it's called noise pollution.
I want my bad dog to go on the back so that means it will be even slower . that means the chick will have to walk and carry my stuff. yeah I'm looking into this mean machine you can run fucking rings around the neighbourhood on this baby
I don't care what the speedo says that's not 40mph. I ride and that looks to me more like 25 maybe 30 tops. It's good enough to get you back to mexico .
A small 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine will do 36 or 37 pretty easily. I don't see why 40 would be out of the question with the right gearing, weight and mods. Also, maybe we should all get out of America and give it back to the Indians if we're going to be like that. Sometimes I hear certain Americans use the phrase "Love it or leave it." but they're usually the people who don't really love it. Not the way it is. Not all of it. They have some ideal in their minds of the perfect place that never existed and never will. One of the things I love about America is its diversity. This man is part of America. Every hillbilly in the Appalachian mountains to every half naked, leather clad men at a gay pride festival is a part of America. It's our diversity that makes us great. So, I have to say this. Love it or leave it man.

From the back and forth movement ,it is apparent that you are still pedaling, that is kinda like cheating.
