  • As my FFR MK4 build wraps up, I'm asking you, the CZcams community what you would like to see me work on next. I've narrowed things down to a GT40 replica build, an LS swap/C3 Corvette upgrade or a Gen1 Mustang build. Please weigh in and leave a comment / let me know what you would like to see!

    RCR GT40 looks to be a pretty solid package - though pricey. Would love to see some electrical videos of the MKIV. Keep up the good work! Oh, and I vote for gumballs instead of stripes, but that's just my 2 cents.

      Thanks for the comment / I'll work in some electrical videos. Key element to electrical on the build? Planning planning planning. I didn't use a harness / etc, just Bosch relays and toggle switches and a lot of 14 - 10ga wire / real easy to do on this car and it makes it easy to trouble shoot too if you have problem / etc. Love the rear fusebox / works so well back there and I've gotten a lot of thumbs up at car shows-etc with the setup / if there is a MK5, this is where I would design it to be :)

    Love the GT40 options but expect to be around $125K and up for a finished build. Best options for price (my opinion) are the 65 Daytona coupe or Superlite SLC. First generation mustang is a great idea, especially restomod slash trans am style; cheap replacement parts, options, and plenty of aftermarket. Could even buy a new fastback shell for $18K and build the way you want from the ground up.

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  Před 4 lety

      I'll definitely check that out. One of the main reasons I chose my FFR build was because I was tired of descaling old cars prior to real work. No big deal doing this, but when you pay top dollar for a 50yr old car, it made me want to spend the same / a little more for something new. I suppose with a Dynacorn chassis, I could buy a doner Gen1 and move the parts. It feels funny saying Gen1 Mustang "doner" :) Thanks for the comment-

I could probably be convinced to watch a Daytona Coupe build as well. I think the Corvette LS conversion is necessary but not exciting. JOE, Everyone is going to have suggestions. For what it's worth, I think that you're more heavy hearted towards the Gen1 Mustang. Plus, if you do decide to go the route of seeking out, and acquiring a Gen1, there is a lot of aftermarket support for the Gen1's. Plus, with the space available under the hood, you can do a Gen1 how you really want to. Now, albeit, that may be a straight up resto, or a resto mod, or even a pro-touring configuration. I think you're leaning toward a pro-touring configuration, with the way you've worded this video, and that you want something that you can build, be proud of, show off, and drive the holy living snot out of. That being said, Pro-touring setups, can be done however YOU want. A Gen1 LS powered Mustang? Sure.. Why not? It's reliable, easy, parts are everywhere, and.. well.. It's LS powered. Or stay brand faithful.. plop a 5.4 into it, they're everywhere anyways.. easy to come by, reliable, and usually cheap. Rebuilds aren't expensive, and you can slap a TR-3650 behind one. If you wanted coolest of the cool.. Build a Bullitt. But build it how you want... And scare everyone doing it.. They make conversion kits, for Gen1's to swap them to fastbacks.. sheetmetal and all... Controversial.. but it's what you want to do.. You're call, but I'd be interested to see you tackle a Gen1, and see how you conquer it.

My C3 handles like a station wagon and I wasted a lot of time rebuilding the OEM control arms/etc for marginal handling - thus - I'm totally with you on a pro touring gen1 build. Love the LS motors and I'm not scared to drop one in a ford / a cool car is a cool car in my book. You've given me a lot to consider and I appreciate the feedback!

I'm kicking myself because even 5-6 years ago, gen1s were way more plentiful / affordable than now (even rusted out) and I looked at a lot of them (at lest 12-14) - still watching Craigslist once a week or so to see what's out there / thanks for the comment!

  • @MrBigbrobeaz
    @MrBigbrobeaz Před 4 lety

    you could combine you love for building and Gen I Mustangs buy buying one of the Reproduction body shells such as Dynacorn or Revology , then you don't have to worry about rust and long forgotten accident damage and twisted subframes, you could then install a Gen 3 Blown Coyote . Think 750 - 900 turn key HP with traffic manners not even a Kasse Boss 9 could match

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  Před 4 lety +1

      I can tell you thought this through :) I checked out the Dynacorn website and there are a lot of good reasons to consider this route with a Mustang project

    • @MrBigbrobeaz
      @MrBigbrobeaz Před 4 lety

      @@TacoJoe You obviously can buy a cheaper car , than A Dynacorn body , but how much extra are you going to pay for body work, which is money that could go back into drive line , and a blown Coyote can even drive power steering like the RRS POWER RACK , quality brakes like Wildwood , Brembos are living on a reputation I don't sincerely think they deserve, I own a 2010 VE Commodore, that you Americans know as the Pontiac G8 GT , mine has original factory twin piston caliper brakes from the factory , fitted with Dot 4 fluid and semi mettalic race pads you can buy from Autone and it regularly out brakes Brembo equipped cars . But I think the little extra for a Brand new Dynacorn body will be money better spent as well as so much less time on pulling an old car apart . You can literally be accumulating parts with the money saved by not having to not having to reconstruct someone else's problem .

    What about a c1 corvette from AC autos

    • @TacoJoe
      @TacoJoe  Před 4 lety

      that is a nice car for sure - the C1s are classic and I think difficulty of the build would be on-par with a cobra. For the C1 to look right though, you'll want to check into the chrome/trim and dash work- all that was very unique on the C1s, unless of course you are going restomod/etc, then it doesn't matter as much.
      For me- i would do a C1 build / document on this channel if i could find a good deal- only reason its not top of my list is i already have a C3 and I like to mix things up. I'll check out AC autos-
