Your daughter...awww. She'll remember that as long as she lives. Maybe she'll inherit it...
No stripes yet?
Until the C8 came out, I always thought the C3 was the prettiest Corvette. But I shamelessly admit to being a head over heels C8 fanboy. Quite the pair you have, best of both worlds having those two in that condition.
Thanks for making this video. I really enjoyed it.
Mad respect for the modifications. thats takes a lot of skill, experience and patience. though I gotta say the interior, just lookswise, got lowkey bogged imho
Thoughts on sound deadening?
Thats a shit interior, go spend the cash and get a proper one sculpted. Aside from that nice job
2 bolt 350s last forever at this level. Shouldn't have a bit of trouble at 500 hp.
Your last statement about the corvette is how I feel and that’s why I to am looking and the Cobra thanks great video
you need to clean the rust under the car befor this get serious ...
That dash is complete garbage. 🤮
lovely C3. Modern shocks and tyres will do a lot for the ride and handling
C8 IS JOKE !!!!
What if you used a late model 351w out of a 95/96 f150 or Bronco ?
A small block Windsor will bolt up no problem in a Factory Five Cobra (including a 95/96 small block) - thanks for the comment!
The C8 is so ugly though. Just another typical high-end sports car. Build well but with no creative artistic design. Looks like every other high-end sports car. No character.
haha - the C8 is still growing on me but man, it sure drives nice :) Maybe the C9 will work out all the growing pains/aesthetics - thanks for the comment!
@@TacoJoe 👍
Awesome C3! That's always been my favorite generation vette. My dream car is an ordinary, common C3 ('79?) with a sleeper engine swap that is reliable enough to take road trips with. Thanks for the video and information.
Sounds like an LS might be a good restomod engine for you (big power / high reliability) - stop dreaming and find a decent used one and make your dreams come true!
when i was 22 i bought corvette of the same model with the same color and leather combo, used to daily it for a couple of years, i swear one day i will buy anoter and rebuild it from scratch, this video makes me so happy
Glad you like it / you should go surf craigslist man! There are still plenty of C3s out there that can be had for low $$$ / thanks for the comment!
@@TacoJoe Im not from the us actually, these are kinds expensive where im from as the only ones are imports, but i work hard and plan that in the next two years ill have the money to buy one and put a full Detroit street suspension with a 427 on it, kind of pricey but you know, a man can dream
How much would you charge to build another dashboard like that 🤔 I have a C3 and I like that updated look?
hey thanks for the comment / don't be afraid to try some customization with your C3. The key: take your time and mock up the dash as much as possible before you make cuts / modifications you cannot easily reverse. Good luck!
no offense without flow numbers to compare.. and or back to back dyno tests.... this is incomplete.
true- but unfortunately I don't have a flow bench - so far though, no regrets with Blueprint heads on a ZZ4 bottom end / revs clean-strong and pulls like a SBC should up high / thanks for the comment!
Man great video! I have a 1978 C3 and have thought about doing fuel injection. Any issues with your setup or is it still a worth it to do the upgrade?
Still worth it (100%) - I had the C3 out today and it was 85 degrees / ran flawlessly in stop & go traffic and it was nice & cool in the cockpit - no regrets / love the car and my next upgrade is likely rack & pinion - thanks for the comment!
Nice yeah I need to do something with my power steering. I had a bad leak last year and put all new parts on but now it started to leak again…
Can a Ford old school 5.0 from a Foxbody🦊, explorer, ect. Fit in this Cobra build?
that's the motor that powers my Cobra - a small block Windsor / thanks for the comment!
Love the color. Not aure if i misses it, but anyone can help me with color and code
its emerald metallic / glad you like the color and thanks for the comment!
I really like what you’re doing. Very well done 👍
Is this your day job? I’m really interested im a heavy equipment operator and I would love to have the time and funding to throw into my bikes and cars like this. All that said love this video and your C3
not my day job (weekends and week nights only) - but - maybe someday it will be my fill time job / thanks for the comment!
This is one of the best car vids I have ever seen
That made no sense to me
and 5th: pure looks for me, the C3 (mkII) is still the most pretty Vette, because of its round lines it just needs a chassis to match that ^^ the C8 is realy F.ugly because of its harsh agressive strait and hooked lines and on top its like they joined 2 unmatching cars in the middle, sorry
Good sensible advice.
This would be so cool. But I will tell you, I'm challenged replacing a lower radiator hose on my Park Avenue.
damn , the old version is looks hotter than the new one while it should be the other way around .
What size tires does this vehicle run front and back?
295 rear, 235 front on 15" wheels (don't know the aspect ratio off the top of my head) - thanks for the comment!
@@TacoJoethank you! Trying to figure out new tires sizes for my mk2 cobra. Mine is on 275/45r17 in the rear, and 245/40r17 in the front. The goal is to get a little taller tires to help lift the side pipes from the ground. Thanks again
You can likely adjust ride height with the threaded shock sleeves also so make sure you check that out on your MK2 - good luck!
@@TacoJoethat's vital. Here in California we have terrible roads...and the highest gas taxes. Go figure, politicians.
Excellent Video and Gorgeous Paint Job
I will like to do everything you did on your c3 to my c3. I’m mostly worried about wiring.
Once you get the hang of wiring you'll see it's not too bad. Learn some of the basics and build on it. Good luck and thanks for the comment!
Did you center the bellhousing?? You might want to look up that procedure before you have to rebuild the Tremec.
Yes sir / aligned within about .0015" TIR (Machined my own dowels) - check out my video which walks through the SST Perfect Fit kit-install and I detail how to align the bell housing. Shifts very well and thanks for the comment!
@@TacoJoe Cool. I saw the part in the video where you just slapped on the bellhousing and feared the worst. Nice build, btw
Wow!
The C3 is still my favorite Corvette of all time and for me personally because it's a build somewhat more like a resto mod I give it a 37 that's just my opinion though and a 33 for the C8 it just fits me like a glove at 5:5 but definitely this C3 is done better than well and it's modded to your comfort
beautiful and thoughtful work. i’d take it over the C8 or damn near any modern car, any day of the week.
Im just in the planning stages. Do you have an idea what the cost would be if I went with a next kit up. Also I'm in Canada. BTW your car looks amazing.
I'm not sure of current cost but if you visit the Factory Five website, I'm sure you can get a cost estimates with different build configurations - or - give them a call (I quoted some stuff over the phone when I built mine) - thanks for the comment and good luck!
These mods are super interesting, and well thought out. I agree on the interior, it does not fit in with the overall design. Nobody asked but I think a solution would be found in introducing some curves to the flat surfaces and straight lines. First suggestion is reduce the size of the two main gauges and use white lettering on black background to make them more coherent less aftermarket-look, I'd move the smaller outside gauges lower down like on the C2. I'd also use more authentic surface materials because they look better and last longer. I would use the door cards for inspiration to finish the dash. If you can use a 3D printer, a lot of molds can be made very accurately, then use foams covered in leather, alcantara is an effective way to go. That said, the new fabricated interior looks good, has great craftsmanship and details, just doesn't fit this car.
thanks much - great feedback and I like the 3D printer idea (I hadn't thought of that) - I'm going to revisit the interior / dash layout and make some changes. I like your ideas with gauge placement too (well thought out) - I may need to invest in a 3D printer!!!
@TacoJoe Hey Joe, I have a question for you. Did you center(align, true, index) the bellhousing when it was installed? If not, you need to research that procedure ASAP, especially with a Tremec.
I did - TIR was under .005 (check out my video of the SST perfect fit kit install for my C3 where I go through the details) - thanks for the comment!
Thoroughly enjoyed this build and video, you did an amazing job on both. At this point in my life I'm definitely more interested in stability and control over maximum hp. I grew up at my grandfather's salvage yard so I really enjoyed watching you tear down that old junk yard motor and rebuild it. I gasped when you pulled that beautiful engine block out of the electrolysis tub, I guess that means all of this car stuff is still in my blood LOL.
sounds like you need a kit :) - glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!
We have these Blueprint heads on a 383 stroker. They perform very well, dissipate heat effectively and the engine makes 470 hp. Zoom zoom.
Is that an 77?
Yes- 77 (last year of the flat back window)
C3 is one of the most beautiful car designs ever!
do you get people asking you questions every where you go? i can’t imagine having a normal trip to the gas station or convenience store in that car i bet it turns heads every where
It's pretty common to draw a small crowd on a nice summer day but that's part of the fun too / people just seem to love Cobras - Thanks for the comment!
@@TacoJoe yeah another thing is where i live people rev their engine at me when i drive my mustang. if i drive a regular car they leave me alone. but a sports car everyone is trying to rev their engine its so annoying.
You looking to sell the C3?
Sorry / I'm too attached to it :) / a great body style on a classic car model. Check Craigslist / there still a lot out there that can be had for reasonable money. Thanks for the comment!
C3 .... Oh my god I love it and allways have. Thank you for keeping it alive :)
Quality video. I love my C3 and I appreciate your hard work on yours.
Really enjoyed this. It's a nice balance between the hour long videos about specific tasks on car builds, and the 2 minute "here's what I did, it's sick!"
That, but with an electric drivetrain. I don't care about the loud engine noise, I want a cool daily
Electric C3 - I think it may have been done, but not sure with a modern setup. Would be unique for sure /thanks for the comment!
Man that is one sweet C3. I have a 1980 with 74k original miles and Id love to set mine up like yours!🙂
Go for it! - You can take small steps with upgrades and improve your C3 over time too. Thanks for the comment-
