    I've got the Mv50 Rock model. It is a little beast of a thing, i love it. I wanted something to use when i was just messing around, so i wouldn't be wasting valve life on my Mooer Little Monster AC (el84 valves have a short life), and my Marshall DSL50 (el34 valves last a lot longer, but when they do go, they're more expensive to replace). The little mv50 sounds bloody great, and the NuTube will last pretty much forever (and if it does die it also is replaceable, it is mounted in a socket you can just pull it out and slap another one in, the pins are not soldered in).

    And now Vox is releasing 2 new MV50 Models, Higain & Boutique (Dumble) and the Big Daddy, the 150 Watt Big Nutube Head (and 1x12 Combo) MVX150 with Nutube in the Pre-and Power Amp.

    I just purchased one today. I heard of these nutubes about a year ago. Kind of forgot about it, then me and a buddy was talking tubes. I looked up nutubes and bam!!! I’ve always wanted a Vox. I’m gonna get all of them. They make about 3 or 4, but in different versions. Great demos as always!!

    Dylan, I have one and really like it, it does sound tube like and has great tone. When looking at the Nu-Tube through the observation window at the top of the MV50, there are two blue glowing windows on top of the Nu-Tube with a thin white line in each blue window. When pushing the MV50 into distortion, these two white lines fade out. What's going on inside the Nu-Tube?

      Look inside your LED TV. Those speakers are TINY, but put out a decent sound!
      How?
      That's because there's a way to increase the bass response of a speaker, if you increase the surface area of it's cabinet.
      TV speakers nowadays use something that looks like a little maze in their housing, which makes the bass response become much greater than what you'd usually expect from them.

    Also these are the first two valves of the kind on the market. So I would guess Korg is developing more as well and when another company starts developing wow, the possibilities.

    Good video with informative content. A technical suggestion, the window light is bright and reflecting off the cover of the tube. My suggestion for your technical stuff is to get some static LED lighting, soft and diffuse, to light any surfaces that reflect. The light path should be around 45 degrees from the flat reflective surface to avoid glare. Close the drapes and your technical dissertations will be much improved.

    I have a question.....while I own several "Tube Amps", I never got into them as far as some people (i.e. swapping tubes for different tone, like swapping an EL34 for a 6L6, or whatever the identifiers are)...my question is this: can the "Nu Tube" be made to emulate different tubes just by how it is wired or would you need a completely different "Nu Tube"? Is the "Nu Tube" just plugged into the circuit board, or is it soldiered in place (which would make swapping it a mote difficult task)....I probably should have bought that amp from you when I bought the Katana; but you couldn't have made this video if I would have purchased it from you....So, I am glad I didn't! With imported standard tubes being confiscated and destroyed, due to some vacuum tubes having Mercury and the shipping companies not being knowledgeable on which Tubes are Mercury free, I think you are correct about this being the future. We are getting ready to see huge technology leaps in the very near future! The human race can s lready do so much that is being withheld from us (anti-gravity propulsion, Meta-skin invisibility cloaking, free Energy, teleportation, and time-travel to name just a few)...NO, I haven't gone crazy or anything!! I promise you, it is all 100% true and will be revealed very soon. Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. I would like to find out how your "guitar color" project is coming along, and if I can do anything to lend a hand. I tried telling people, over a month ago, that old style vacuum tubes were going to be phased out....I was called every name imaginable and even got threatened (which made no sense....threaten my life because I said vacuum tubes would be gone in the future??). That would be like some getting threatened for saying that analog cellphones would be replaced by digital phones and analog phones would not be able to even be activated. People didn't believe that bit of knowledge either; yet that is exactly what happened! New technology always replaces old technology...ALWAYS!

      GySgt 0317 real tubes aren't going anywhere in a VERY long time. Too many people have amps ( new and old) and they need replacement tubes.
      Like cars, sure we have new cars but some people would rather have a classic from the 50s.
      Some people even continue to buy vinal records because alot of people prefer the sound over something digital.

    • @Motolav
      @Motolav Před 5 lety +1

      NuTube gives off the sound it gives. Its a Vacuum Floressent Display (LCD looking displays but they operate like a vacuum tube) NOT some magic digital part so it can't give off any different sound. The NuTube cannot be used as a power amp so you're still getting a solid state Amp to power speakers.
      All VFDs can be used as audio amplifiers look on CZcams for VFD Amplifier its nothing new just repurposing old tech to replace much older tech.

    My biggest complaint is that most Class D amplifiers don't have impedance choices. So if you have a 16 ohm cabinet, you end up with a lot less power than if you had an 8 or 4 ohm cabinet. An MV50 only produces about 12 watts into a 16 ohm cab.

  • @shipofthesun

    1:17 "...is an actual tube..." No, it is not. That is a fluorescent display being substituted for a tube. Which will never sound like an actual thermionic amplification device. Please do not attempt to blur that bright shining line in the future. This a quarter ass attempt at an end run around the laws of physics through marketing.

      Howard Barnett lol!!

    • @DylanTalksTone
      @DylanTalksTone  Před 5 lety +2

      A vacuum tube and a fluorescent display work on the same basic principle. A cathode, an Anode, a vacuum, and the moving of electrons through that vacuum. If you put a luminescent gas in an amp tube, it would light up just the same. It is a different voltage range and application, but it's basically the same. It is better in many ways, and despite the traditionalist that can't handle change... get ready. It is coming.

      DylanTalksTone couple things first. I am a man, and pink is one my favorite colors to wear. So I’m not critiquing that. I believe all people should be treated equally regardless of where they come from, what they look like, or what god they believe or not believe in. I’m trying to ascertain the content of your character, the only ethical way to judge people, by finding out if you are a feminist. Feminism is a racist sexist ideology of hate that has an ulterior motive of installing communism. I care if people align themselves with that. They use an explicitly sexist term as a label for an equality movement that is supposed to be against sexism. I encourage you to read contemporary feminist writing, critical theory, the Frankfurt group, and websites like every day feminism. Here’s an article to get you started that will show you that they are the exact opposite of what they claim to be. www.campusreform.org/?ID=10005
