Uber doesn't own any fleets. They have contract drivers that own the vehicles. Uber is just a dispatch company that uses an app to send offers from passengers and drivers.

The drivers, who are called "contractors" own the vehicles and Uber doesn't even pay them a fair percentage of the ride to pay for wear and tear, gas, etc. And we're not true "contractors" as Uber hides many of the details of the ride and lowers your scores or ratings when you, as a "contractor" decline rides you analyze as unprofitable. If there were no drivers willing to sign up their personal vehicles for rides, there would be no UBER!!
So he said surge pricing was to get driver but downplayed that many times drivers do not see 50% of the surge amount. The way Uber drivers see the fare breakdown comes WITHOUT an explanation of what Uber sliding scale of external fees. These fees should be Uber's business expenses but are passed on to the driver. These fees are considered revenue on a driver's bottom line.
UBER pool when I accept I only take the first passenger, all the rest passengers I just ignore, my passengers love that and even they tip me. Ha . No pool or share for me.

I had an Alaska cruise booked for 5-20-24 and had UBER scheduled for 3:40 am to take me to the airport. 7 rides and refunds I never got to the airport to go on the cruise after being planned for almost a year.😡
