    Mosquitoes do not get attracted to light!
    This device will work on all other insects on the planet, but not on mosquitoes

      They get attracted by different body enzymes, fluids but most important, carbon dioxyde. So... you're screwed if you want to do emulate that easily, or you breath through a fly stunner :P

      mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide, body heat and may be the smell of the body, as far as i know..

    The bug zapper racket is still cheaper on amazon $8. Add up all the stuff this guy used to make the box which most likely will not kill mosquitoes and u have a mismanaged government project that went overbudget. Good try!

    No mosquito raps actually work if you yourself are in the room. They always find you. We are having huge mosquito problems too and its frustrating that nothing actually works apart from that good old zapper.

    A box fan with a screen on the back will work better. They get caught in the air stream and quickly dry out. I replaced my expensive to run mosquito magnet with a simple homemade one. I catch WAY MORE

    I just used my homemade bug zapper. Well, sort of... I opened the door to my microwave about 3". Held it open with a water botter. Waited. The big gross fly went it. I shut the door and pressed start. 5 seconds it was dead. No pop. No mess.

    Or just fix the screen on the big zapper and add a clamp and a 3v power supply then just clip it to any outdoor or indoor lamp.

    This trap won't work against mosquitoes, and it likely won't even last to work as a normal bug zapper for long.
    The circuitry used in electric fly swatters usually isn't designed for sustained use and will overheat and fail at some point. The failure point is usually the switching transistor, which isn't rated for the continuous current usage it outputs.
    If you want to attract mosquitoes to a trap like this, you'll need mosquito attractant, like N-Octanol. You can also add a source of carbon dioxide if you want to further increase the attraction of mosquitoes. Mosquito attractant is usually sold at places like Walmart near where bug zappers are sold and is generally pretty cheap. You'll have to replace the bait once a month as it expires though.
