We'd be outside playing, and all of a sudden an air raid siren would go off, sounding very much like the ones used in WWII. When we heard the sirens, we had to go inside, close all of the windows and turn on the air conditioners to filter the air. The smog was so heavy over the Los Angeles Basin, you couldn't see the mountains from across the valley, and sunsets were always blood red. Los Angeles and California have achieved miracles since then in clearing up the air pollution, but they still have a ways to go. We all have a ways to go. But, the clearing of the air in the San Fernando Valley gives me hope. If it can be done there, maybe it can be done everywhere else.

We're living through a drought right now and groundwater sources like aquifers are going to run out so on top of the housing bubble that's going to pop we are going to have major water shortages within our lifetime.

I grew up in Northshore Texas. Just downwind of all of the refineries in the ship channel. Advertised as an idealic escape from the city. The area of where "Urban Cowboy" was filmed and some inspiration into the making of "King of the Hill".
As a child, I was no different than Greta Thunberg. I cursed them and criticized them, only to be mocked and rejected. That was nearly 50 years ago.
I learned the hard lessons of how the money will destroy us. Nobody listened then. Nobody is listening now. I've never been one to promote violence but if we want to save the Earth, we have no choice but to prejudicially destroy those who remain indifferent to the climate crisis as it is now knocking on the front door. This our only option. The fight will be against authoritarianism, totalitarianism, greed and corruption. If we don't act immediately, we will lose this battle. It will be too late.

It's insane to think that in my short lifetime the proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere has increased by a full 20%. There's one-fifth more CO2 in the air I breathe now than when I was born, it's so crazy to think about. We should have invested in carbon recapture and planting trees decades ago, it's not too late to make a difference but we have such a late start and still so many roadblocks that it's hard to see anything positive in the world's future. I truly do not envy kids who are born today, this planet will be hell by the time they're old.
