- Welcome back! I am so glad you're here. Lets look at the mighty Hot Rod that literally started the Yong Heng Hot Rod Shop. I fabricated the tube frame and instrumented the unit as well as designed and fitted the cooling system. It might me "home made" but its REALLY good.

Enjoyed! Have a weird idea to accomplish the same thing (?) but at lower output volume, wiil welcome thoughts on it. I would replace the AC motor with an efficient DC Motor and rather slow the speed to maintain cooling equilibrium with some simplified cooling scheme using a PC Core radiator(s). Thinking like 1/2 the RPM of the AC as a starting point.
This would cut noise, and make smoother, and enable me to use the same 40v, 12Ah (Ryobi clone) battery packs I use for E-Bike/E-Kayak and so on.
The big IF is related to air leakage between piston and cylinder, I suspect that at something like 1/8 the AC speed no air would be compressed or so.
Worth doing? (No bucket, auto on, quieter, smoother... would weigh another 10lbs with 2 batteries and all, but could wheel to the bench. (I believe more than enough power to top off my air gun 3-4-5 times, (300CC from 150 to 250 bars), will carry me around some 10 miles up and down hills, or blow out my driveway). My best guess.
Thank you for your comment. When you say an efficient DC motor to me that really means a 3 phase motor, which in the end is really still an AC motor but the inverter uses a DC source. Mr. Tesla was a VERY smart guy, turns out. Personally I've never been drawn to the PC coolers, especially when you see how much more cooling capacity you get from a cheap automotive heater core. Almost sounds like you want to turn your Yong Heng into a GX compressor? Why not start there? The CS4 is already built to similar specs, although I think with the limited output flow rate it really does not solve any problems the CS2/3 don't. I'm not trying to squash your line of thinking, just offering my thoughts. If you do go down that road, bring a camera! Will be fun to tag along. Have an awesome day!

O-rings in my shop always get a very thin coat of pure silicone grease. If your asking about the rings on the high pressure piston they also get lubed may the splash oil as the Yong Heng moves that through the system at a pretty good rate (Not ideal for a number of reasons). Get a CS4 and fly more pellets.
hi bill i made my own version of the tube cooler. I cut a 14cm (5.5inch) plastic tube lengthwise. the tube has an outer diameter of 22mm and an inner diameter of 15mm. I slid the plastic tube over the straight part of the outlet tube and glued the cut with silicone. I drilled 2 holes of 10mm at the top and bottom of the plastic tube and glued 2 copper tubes in there. I just glued the top and bottom of the plastic tube with silicone for the time being. I connected a small cheap aquaium pump ( 300l/ m) to the 10mm tubes. Outlet tube above my cooler is about 62C°, bottom cooler 28C°. I can just hold the outlet tube at the bottom without burning myself, very satisfied with this. My question now is: every how many minutes should I release the pressure from my outlet tube to get as much moisture out of my tube as possible? Thank you for your reply.

Hi Bill, would you recommend purchasing an extended warranty from Amazon when purchasing a PCP air compressor?
I would say it is a great way to "CYA" down the road. If your handy in the shop then just getting some spares from me might be cheaper down the road, it an individual thing I think.
How is the piston lubed
On a Yong Heng? Splash oil from the crankcase.
I have the GXSC3 and loved it for the 2 hr.s of run time that I got out of it !! and it took a 💩 on me ! I filled a gun and it worked just fine on the 2nd gun the fans came on just like they should but no lights on the stop or start buttons ! And when you push the run button nothing at all ! If I tap on the side of the compressor in-between the front of it and where the screws are for the mother board the stop light will flash but just for a Mill a second but will not stay on and the start button won't even light up at all ! I took the cover off of it and checked all the connections and they are all good ! I got hold of the maker and I was told because it's a month out of warranty im SOL !! Any ideas ????
Soooo, how in the heck does a guy that only ran his machine twice "run out of warranty" when the Amazon warranty period is a full year? I'm sure there is a story there somewhere...

@@TargetForge as I said I don't shoot everyday like some guys do ! The compressor only has 2 hr.s on it in just over a year ! And Amazon told me to contact the seller which i did and they told me because the compressor is out of warranty by a week or two that they can do nothing to help me ! I'm on a fixed income (social security ) and at this time I don't have the money to be buying parts one after another trying to chase down what's wrong with the compressor the company told me it could be a few things wrong with it but even the company is not sure what it could be so that means I'll have to put out for part after part until I find out what part was bad !
Where did you get your stickers. I'm wanting air gun, compressor. Comic looking ,like air guns, compressor, comic face blowing 4,500 psi, someone could get Rich selling stickers for air gun enthusiasts, Ect. Stickers. Good job on your compressor!!

I am a little confused by the chilling tube .Is the compressed moisture good or bad ? How will it affect the efficeincy of the system ?

When air is compressed the moisture in the air is compressed as well. This will vary depending on the relative humidity. Air also gets really hot when it gets compressed. Cold air cannot hold as much moisture as hot air so by chilling the outlet tube we force more moisture to condense before getting to the separators and filters so we have to service them less often. We want the driest air possible.

Pretty sure this is a 110V unit and runs when the motor is on. I would have either grabbed a connection at the switch or the motor.

hello, it's not complicated.. The compressors blows off through the little safety valve next to the purge valve.. The safety valve with its red plastic cover, and made of brass is clearly visible, and attached to the first stage bloc....
I've tried fitting a "replacement" one supposedly 175psi, but I don't know what internal failure causes this to blow off, and at what pressure this is supposed to blow off...
A, no one talks about the 1st stage safety valve, and why it's there.
B, no one seems to know what pressure it is supposed to operate at.
C, the spare one's I bought rated at 175psi,blow off very fast and don't even have the pressure stamped on them, unlike in the photo on Amazon who sell them... Typical Chinese lack of quality... Any safety valve must be stamped to show its operating pressure.
Something has failed inside the compressor, possibly causing high pressure blowback from the second stage into the first stage causing the 1st stage pressure safety valve to operate constantly..... That's it.... Pressure in the high pressure 2nd stage fails to even move the main pressure Guage off zero.
It's brand new, and was run in for 20 minutes with water cooling, and open bleed valves to let everything settle in.
It was used 7 times to compress a 0.75 or pcp to 250 bar. Over 7 days.
Then it was used twice to fill the pcp to 290 bar.. Fine. Then on the next and last fill, it failed to reach 290 and stopped charging at 250 bar.
I used my pcp rifle again but when I tried to refill it for the 11th time, it just vents air through the 1st stage safety valve....
The importer has offered me an almost total refund to fix it myself.... Charming.... Because they don't have the competance or parts to repair it.... That says a lot.... So do I accept this and buy another one and keep the first one for spares???.
Well that would make some sense but just how badly are these compressors made, and what genuine parts are available as there are no parts lists with part numbers.
Parts sold that have no operating pressure stamped on them...eg the safety valve.
I only buy Chinese products because no one else make them... Everything comes from China, but the big problem is their total lack of quality control... Nothing is built to be the best, it's built to be the cheapest.
It's really sad, because with a little bit more effort they could produce great products, but that's not their goal.
Not trying to solve your problems in the comments section of a CZcams video is also "not complicated".
ok update, ive found more horrors inside now ive opened it up, the high pressure seals have failed on the small piston, why, well it's not even the same as the repair kits with three identical seals made from the friction materiel over a green silicone seal but mine has two identical seals on the 1st and 3rd seal, but the center seal is just a band of friction material with NO INNER GREEN O RING and its a shallower grouve !!! so how many variants are they doing of this same pump ? it had failed because the center ceal has split and the lower double seal has lost a chunk of the friction materiel just leaving the top seal to attempt to do the job of three.. also the high pressure end clappet valve doesnt seal when i blow through it with my mouth.. this is a bad design and in service some air will squeeze past untill sheer pressure closes it fully , and this leakage will increase heat generated and reduce efficiency.. more bad design, more bad quality..
ive been offered a 80% reimboursement, but should i accept or not ? yes that a good deal if i go buy another new pump of the same ? design. Perhaps if I buy one that supplies 3 identical high pressure piston seals in the spares kit ( that my first one didn't have) it will actually have a three identical seal design.. internally...but i wont know until it fails and i open that one up... do i just buy a replacement piston kit and hope that has the three seals correctly made, or do i re machine the shaft so i can fit three of the double seals ...and keep the refunded one as a spare for when the new new one dies ? What did you learn form the factory tour ? im waiting with bated breath to actually see inside their factory...so many questions but ill save them for after youve posted the video... as I don't think you will actually post it.. did you even get inside ? did you ask about resolving any of their design issues..?
Colin, despite being asked to move your conversation over to email you persist to use the comments section of a CZcams video to solicit support and berate a manufacturer. Yes Colin, Yong Hengs are terrible, which is WHY 90% of my content has been in support of GX compressors in NANTONG China. This may come as a shock to you, but to my knowledge Yong Hengs are NOT manufactured in Nantong and I would NEVER have subjected myself to nearly 40 hours of air travel to see their facility. GX on the other hand IS WORTH THAT Effort. Almost seems like you are trying to troll me about my coverage of my trip to Nantong, know that I am a patient man, but my tolerance for trolls is limited. I understand you are having issues with your Yong Heng, They are, or can be, absolute junk. I do not support them, I do not sell parts for them, some people wanted to see my solution to "polishing the turd" that is Yong Heng, so I did an episode about it. Notice I called the pump "The Wong Way" get it? It was a joke, The entire Yong Heng Hotrod shop is a poke at the Yong Heng that draws so many of us to it as a solution. I believe I have found a better way to supply air to my guns and decided to supply parts for it right here in the US of A. I am sorry you are having issues with your pump. I don't support them because they aren't something I desire to invest time into any longer. Keep fighting the good fight, and make some amazing parts to fix a bad design, you will have hours of work to keep you occupied. I/m going to use my GX, air up my gun and fly some pellets. I truly do wish well.
Too complex. Just use 3 gallon bucket, ice, and a fan blowing over the front of the compressor assembly. Cooking up a vidjeo at the moment
Yeah, properly designed water cooling systems are just silly... OMG! You cannot be serious? Yes, it is complex, once, when designed and built, THEN it's dirt simple. Not sure if you're joking or not, but CZcams is looking for videos of guys putting water in buckets, it's a really underserved space.
@@TargetForge It is complex though? Describing it as a killer Yong Heng, BUT have you compared it to a simpler build with just ice in it? What's more efficient to include cooling, convenience, portability, and build time?
I'm bringing these things up because I myself had to do the deep dive and watch a ton of people (including you) to see what everyone was using. I did learn a great deal from your videos, to include on how high pressure filters work.

Depends on what process we are discussing. Low temp silver solder? probably ok but if you get the wrap tight I wonder what the gain would be. High temp silver, which is typically near brazing temps, on unknown chinese stainless? Not me. I do have a trick to get greater copper contact that will be in that episode. Been REALLY busy with the summer event travel and Podcast content. I spend A LOT of time editing. I do need to get it done! Although, after filling a large bottle with the CS4? I wonder if it isn't the real Yong Heng killer. It was actually a pleasure to use.
