I think due to the fact that the army was a mixure of polish and german (e.g. Saxon and Bavarian) soldiers :). Okay this does not explain the laser sword, helmet and WW1 uniform. But maybe the Germans came by bicycle?

A brief History of Germany and the names of the country and its army:
The nation called "Germany" was founded 1871 as a monarchistic empire. They called their army "Reichswehr".
When Germany lost WW1, the USA said, they would only negotiate terms of surrender with a democratic country. So Germany went through a revolution and the "Weimarer Republik" (Weimar Republic) was founded 1918. They called their army "Wehrmacht". Then 1933 the Nazis won an election and Hitler became chancellor, startet to call Germany the "3. Reich", attacked Poland and startet WW2.
After WW2 Germany was split in two parts, the comunistic "Deutsche Demokratische Republik" (German Democratic Republic) and its "Nationale Volksarmee" and the democratic "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" with the "Bundeswehr".
And the part "...wehr..." means something like defenders/fighters. Just like in "Feuerwehr" (fire department), "Abwehr" (defence) or "sich wehren" ( to defend yourself).
@@acciomorgenstern3280 Most of the things were right but germany didnt switch to democratic because the USA only wanted to negotiate with a democratic country they did it because there was a massiv revolution because of wich Kaiser Wilhelm had to abdicate (wich He didnt do someone else did it for him) after wich there was a power vacoum And the Weimar Republic was proclaimed. They only wanted to surrender after the republic was proclaimed.
