- Part 1 of 6 of my Coloured Gem guide for Crash 1. These levels require you to break all the boxes whilst not losing a life.
Notes:
- You can die before the first checkpoint. Do this multiple times to gain Aku Aku Masks.
- You need to complete all the Bonuses stages and break every box in them.
- Dying in the bonuses stages will not count as a death.

U can die as many times as u want in the bonus stages and u can still get the green gem

For those wondering: Dying during both bonus areas during this level do not affect anything, you'll still get the gem if you've died in the bonus levels.

Thanks to this video I've gone from really struggling with this level to getting a PB of all boxes with 2 deaths. So close to perfect.
To get that Aku Aku mask you didn't know how to get, You will have to jump straight up when the spinning platform is at his highest point.

As an old crash player I could have finished this level in a super chilled way, but this new crash has a different physics i need to get used. The original crash by the way is much harder because in every level to get the gem you don't have to die not only this one, they made it much easier for me.
Just died with 3 boxes left to get...
I need help. I'm stuck. I'm at the spot right after the first checkpoint where it shows a white box under the old man with the red eyebrows that u need to do one of the bonus levels. How do I get the box to show up under it so I can jump on it to get the floating thing so that I'm able to do the bonus level

I actually did slippery climb on the first shot, this was after I completed stormy ascent after over a hundred lives were lost. The hardest part of slippery climb is the box parts where you have to go into the little cubby holes and jump back out. I’m pretty sure the game gave me a pass on that one a couple of times because it should not have been that easy

I never thought to just jump around the wall of steel boxes at the beginning , I assumed the (!) Box you hit turned them to breakable style and you had to backtrack... I was making this unnecessarily harder on myself
Hell even playing C3 with an Xbox controller is annoying because the sensitivity is so wonky I find myself missing boxes on moving levels that were mega easy on ps1 (water ski / motorcycle, etc)
It took my several attempts to get the green gem, but I finally did it. Make sure that when you go for that jump on the last lizard you are in the middle of the platform so your bounce will connect. My positioning was just off enough that when I jumped Crash went around and behind the box, and I didn't react fast enough to spin. The last two boxes of the game, and I couldn't get them because that lizard would not respawn either. I was so mad I wanted to crack my PS4 controller in half.
I messed that up too and felt like dying inside, but I calmed myself down and got the gem on the next attempt.
Whoever designed these gem challenges is a sadist.
TBH getting this gem was harder than getting the red one in slippery climb
red gem took me 4 attempts and green gem like 30+

Great guide! Beginning part without Aku Aku would go like you jump past those hard steel boxes, break bouncy box and use last ? box to jump off (leaving wumpa goods behind).I did not know that restart must be do after dieing & spawning in checkpoint. :DDieing in bonus is allowed without losing gem. Just Aku goes missing.

no i agree this is the hardest gem after that it gets pretty easy well i guess the stage with rain i can't remember the name can still give you the troubles but after that i think they are fairly easy thank god they didn't put a colored gem in the Road to nowhere... well i guess you still need to do it without dying for Relic or wait was it High Road that was the hard one... eh nvm you get the point
Well, the original game didn't have a Coloured Gem in Road To Nowhere or The High Road, so of course N. Sane doesn't either.
That said, in the original game, you had to break every box without dying on every level to get a gem, so it doesn't make a difference there. And yeah, the fact you have to do it without dying for time trials anyway makes the N. Sane version arguably harder than the original.

At 0:34 there was no box when I was playing. There were just white lines in the shape of the box.

I can't be the only one who actually finds the Tawna bonus much easier than the N.Brio. I just can't get the timing right spin jumping into those last set of crates correctly, he always hits the tnt boxes.
Here’s the secret: when you bounce off the tnt crates, don’t spin or hold the button down. Wait for Crash to land, then jump as high as you can and spin. Crash will break only the box, so jump to the next tnt and repeat the process. You have to move a bit quickly to avoid the eventual explosion.
How did he get 3 aku masks at the start of the mission?

Please oh mighty one teach me the way of jumping. With these new physics in the N Sane trilogy I slide off of everything and miss jumps WAY too often. Ugh
Keep playing. You'll get used to it.
Make sure you jump at the last minute to get the most out of the jumps.
@Crashpunk When I jump at the last minute I end up sliding off and dying every dang time. I am tempted to try a different controller. Mine is old and maybe the buttons aren't as responsive because I notice a lag when I hit X vs when I actually jump.

Does dying in the N. Brio or Twana Bonus Section disqualify you? If it does, I failed during the N. Brio Bonus Round. If it doesn't, I got all the way to the lizard at 6:33, misjudged my jump & spin, he bounced my spin back and sent me hurtling off the edge...

I finished the level and found out I couldn't die to get the gem and honestly I dont think Im going to play the game anymore. Just trying to relax and smoke some pot this game definitely isnt for that

How do u jump on each box that are lined up In a row ? Like In the bonus stage around 5.34 of this video every time I do it I over jump and miss 1 or 2 boxes thanks

If you die before hitting any checkpoints do you still have to quit the stage and reenter to get the gem?
To get the achievement you need to break the all in this boxes in this level, and also not die. So the checkpoint boxes would also need to be broken to meet the prerequisite. No deaths and no missed boxes all in 1 life.
So to answer your question now knowing what I just said, it doesn’t matter if you die, you can’t skip the checkpoint as a loop hole…. Simply collect all the boxes without dying once.
But if I die in the bonus, but not in the level, it count?

There is a box inside the temple when you jump it appears

i have 3 of the 6 colored gems i literally just got the green 1 it was pretty hard . ( i have big gold,green, and blue) lastnight i beat slippery climb without dying and i got to the end only to see that i missed 2 boxes ... well come to find out i missed 2 in the bonus level cus i assumed the tnt crates would explode the surrounding boxes since they do in crash 2 and 3 but i guess not i guess u have to hit them yourself and then evade the explosion.

I got all the boxes and I went crazy trying to get them all then I got to the end BUT YOU DIED I almost broke my controller
At 2:00 you said you dont know how to get the haku or something like that. Thats kinda funny that you didnt try to jump. I know you didnt, otherwise you would know how to get it.

I HATE those jumping lizards. Why do you get pushed into the pit if you try to spin them?! It makes no sense!! I did get the color gem, but those lizards deserve to get tossed into the volcano with tnt crates so they can super die.

OK IM SO FUCKING ANGRY I DIDNT KNOW THAT YOU HAD TO NOT DIE AND I SPENT 4 HOURS ON THE BONUS GAMES AND THEN IT SAID NEARLY PERFECT BUT YOU DIED AND I THREW MY CONTROLLER ACROSS THE ROOM I AM SO DONE WITH CRASH
I have every single square inch of this hellhole memorized. This is not "challenging." This is just asininely sadistic design. They didn't even add a reset stage option, that could have at least made this slightly more bearable. I've been on this shit for days, haven't even moved past this stage, and I'm considering just moving on to Crash 2. I can get as far as the last three platforms and I always die because I missed a jump by a millimeter. Sorry, but I have played games where they were challenging but had tight controls and you KNOW where your jumps will land, this game feels completely random 90% of the time.
