- Did you know the USPSTF now recommends average risk Americans get screened for colon cancer at age 45 now instead of 50? I chat with my siblings about this and see how much they know about it. Talk to your doctor about colon cancer screening!
Please note this video is for medical education purposes and is not medical advice - Zábava
The brother is like plz leave me to my pizza😆
Luke does not like crust 😂
Or, why do you allways talk shop when I'm eating?
His meal was ruined. Lol
The look of contempt on Luke's face was my favorite part 😁 Siblings are the best lol
your brother is like my entire family when i try to share something i learned in anatomy--leave me to eat vibe--
This looks like the best conversation for thanksgiving dinner. Then end the evening with free colonoscopies for the entire family!
Eww 😅
Brilliant, and you've saved a fortune on food because they've had to fast for 24 hours.
Can I just say that your mom must be so proud of all of her kids !!
Medical students would be lucky to have you as their teacher! You are great at explaining stuff!
You are so enthusiastic about medicine. I am dying to know what your siblings' chosen professions are!
Thanks for sharing your information and introducing your siblings.
More videos with siblings please! It was cute to see you interacting with them :)
This is actually a very educative video. That’s how it should be done in school. It’s easier to learn and memorize things like that
What a handsome, healthy-looking, intelligent family! Must be nice.🤗
Great patient teaching. Could you do one on advanced directives and code status? I know GI is more your thing, but I think it’s something patients don’t know enough about and isn’t talked about except when it is too late.
Great idea!
Dont forget that depending on the findings you need another colonoscopy in different intervalls. This should be a superbowl commercial or sth. Colonoscopy is one of the best if not the best preventive methods out there.
Love that you get on to poop talk while your poor brother is eating! My mom was a nurse at a cancer research hospital and the things we had to listen to at dinner every night before she went in to work her night shifts...JAYsus!
POOR Luke baby, just trying to eat his pizza n big brother comes along n talks about poop!! lol
Your sister is clearly a very smart thinker.
If anyone is reading the comments. I was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer at age 47. My cancer would not have been as advanced if I were screened at age 45. I have no family history of cancer. My husband was screened at age 50, a large polyphase found that was still in a precancerous stage. Please, please have the recommended screening. I promise a colonoscopy is not as bad as it is made out to be and thousands of times easier than the chemo, radiation and surgery needed to treat colorectal cancer.
Involving your whole family in a public service announcement for early colon cancer screening 👍😉🙄 clever Ben, very clever! 👍👍👍
You have Siblings that’s great!! Why can’t all Dr. be more fun and stuff?
Awesome video! Your siblings are cute! Do more of these!
DocSchmidt: And then what do we do with it?
Me:.... Eat it?
This is one attractive family!
Loved this video! Please make it a series.
Luke is thinking…why does my brother want to be a doctor who takes care of peoples intestines?
Best teacher again! No doubts🤩
They are so well informed 👏
You guys are super adorable!!!!! Your parents raise amazing kids!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Doc Schmidt has a beautiful family. They’re all very nice people 😊❤️
Luke is thinking...Get way from me!
Go Grace!!! Brubs. Luke. You are a whole mood. 😁👏👏👏👏👏
My dad got colon cancer at 38.
I’m now 38, so my doc wants me to get a colonoscopy sometime between now and when I turn 40. Not looking forward to that. Then I’ll probably get another one every couple of years depending on how the first one goes.
Not excited about extra colonoscopies, but I’ll never, ever forget the hell dad went through and the effects he’s still dealing with.
If it means preventing that happening to me, and preventing my kid going through what I did, I guess I’ll deal with it.
Checking in here Annie, did you get that colonoscopy?
That would probably sound less weird had I pointed out that I'm a colonoscopy nurse
As someone with Lynch Syndrome, I get annual colonoscopies and biannual endoscopies. I had my first colonoscopy at 42 because my dad had colon cancer at 52. I woke up from that first procedure to be told I had colon cancer (sigmoid), Stage 1. The Lynch diagnosis came later when too many factors for it piled up and I was given a genetics test. MSH6 deletion found.
OMG, this is why they don’t call
This was fun!
That was awesome thank You!!
Thanks for watching!
I totally would have been giving you a hard time. Worst sister ever! 😂😂😂
Luke looks thrilled!
So adorable!😍
Your siblings are super smart like you
Love your videos, if that was your parent’s house I’m sure someone said, “the trash was open when you filmed that!” I’m a GIPA who is also a mom!!! Lol
That was also my moms feedback 😅
This is wholesome ^^
I want to see Luke in a different wig for each segment.
They are pretty smart
In Australia people aged 50-74 get sent the poo test iFOBT and are encouraged to do it every two years.
Their not interested! Haha! My daughter is a nurse and she talks to me and her siblings like this ,and i say speak English!!! Haha!
I wish they would lower the age bc I know people are getting colon cancer younger then 45.
Good looking family 👪
In 20 years you will all be sitting and discussing your colonoscopies...great fun😜
Getting my on Tuesday yayaya
22-yr-old sis is pretty up on her shit! Future GI doc there?
Can you do a more in depth video on colon cancer? And colonoscopies. Four of my relatives have/had colon cancer (only 1 is still alive and fighting) I know I need to be checked, but I'm kinda scared. Thanks.
For reference I'm 42, the relatives were my uncle, grandmother, father and brother(still fighting)
Schedule a colonoscopy. Better for them to get a look asap given your age & family history so they can treat and follow anything they may find.
He actually has a few videos about colonoscopies and what to expect
I'm a genetic counselor specialized in oncology. You may want to check out the video on my channel about Lynch syndrome. Lynch syndrome is the most common cause of hereditary colorectal cancer (although there are other syndromes as well) and your family certainly qualifies for genetic testing.
Is there a correlation between the development of skin tags (skin polyps) and colon polyps? Like if you never used to have skin tags and suddenly you start getting them, might that indicate that you’re getting colon polyps too?
I work in gastro authorizations and despite the new guidelines most insurance companies still only cover a screening for colon cancer dx code if the patient is 50 years or older.
Most insurance plans legally have to cover anything recommended by USPSTF, but this recommendation just came out 2 months ago. I would expect the coverage policies to get updated when they revise for plan year 2022.
@@hannahemartin1 We've been informed they all have to comply by May 2022. Some already cover at 45 even prior to the new guidelines
Don't forget about CT colonography!
luke : like ... can i finish my breakfast man
Lol. Your brother was eating !!!!!!
Sister has the info!
Luke is clearly a frat bro
Luke was like what did I do to deserve this.
What about a CT colon instead of colonoscopy? In Sweden they are considered equal.
You just put a sell by on your sibling relationships. Day before their 45 birthdays, they are for sure disowning you. Colonoscopy indeed!
Well that sucks. I thought I had a couple more years before I had to do that. Turns out I’m a few years too late. Do you still have to drink that big jug of whatever it is like I see on tv?
Luke Part's funny af
Your sister looks alot like you !
Would hemophilia be a reason they would avoid a colonoscopy for screening? I'd think perhaps due to chance of nicking something?
Prophylactic measures can be used in cases of abnormal hemostasis. As long as the person is hemodynamically stable its unlikely hemophilia would totally prevent a colon cancer screening/polyp analysis etc.
His brother looks annoyed 😄
My poor kids are recommended to get screened at 22. 🙈
My doctors phrasing was, "if you have blood in stool you win a colonoscopy ". Guess who won a colonoscopy? Me! :/
FOBT test like ATM machine :P
Touché 😋
In NZ they won't screen you early if you have a family history of bowel cancer :(
Why not??
@@Doc_Schmidt The same reason I can't see a nephrologist until I'm actually *in* kidney failure, a lack of funding. Health insurance in NZ doesn't cover preexisting conditions so losing the perks of 'free' healthcare isn't worth paying for it. My grandmother had bowel cancer, my mother had to fight tooth and nail, even when she had blood in her stool, to get a colonoscopy and I know not to even try until I'm in dire straits.
@@qienna6677 that’s really cruel and unfair :(
How old are YOU Dr. Schmidt?
Guess!
Lukes def not in the medical field…😂😂😂
Luke is me. I am luke. Said 2 with the confdence of a seasoned doctor lol. And if it were two, u bet he wouldve ate the adulation up
Luke is trying to eat...
The rectum is a part of the colon??? Hmmm spoken like a true gastroenterologist…
Can you not get a CT scan for polyps? ...Maybe not. My mom got a CT scan for a 1.5 cm cervical tumor, the CT didn't show shit, then They did a hysterectomy and found her whole uterus was full of cancer!
Luke lost his appetite.
Luke doesn't care
Are u jewish?
He's American
Did your mum forget to teach you you don't talk about colons when other people are eating
