These videos are amazing! I bought a rebuild kit but didn't really know what I was doing. I followed your step by step instructions and my Rancher 55 runs like brand new now! BTW, it seems like the best tutorial videos on just about any subject always come from Canada. Thank you from your neighbor to the South.

Great tutorial Donyboy. I've got a 55 and i'm considering putting a piston and ring. It's amazing how much wood it's cut. It's 17 yrs old and still going strong. Thanks very much for sharing your expertise. Great channel.

Thanks for the series on this engine rebuild, it was a great help! I just rebuilt a Poulan 2150 LE predator, I replaced the piston and rings but instead of replacing the cylinder I bore out the cylinder with a break cylinder bore. I followed your sequence of taking apart and putting the saw back together. The saw started right up. Thanks for the post and keep them coming!

Used this set of videos to rebuild an old 51 and the process was very simple using the videos. Good attention to detail and shown on camera very well. I used an NWP brand piston kit from Bailey's online and have probably 10 tanks of gas on it and it has been fine so far.

  • @RussellBooth1977

    Very well assembled !!!!
I was however, taught to run whatever I assemble as a motor first but that was with power tools,I do that with lawn equipment as well, when working in a business I had to do it that because it saves time pulling all that stuff off if a carby was plugged up with crap or something.
When I did up a Stihl hedge trimmer, I fit the cutting blade last after testing it as a motor, the compression was 105 PSI with the new cylinder kit installed & 124 PSI when run in.
That's because the cylinder & rings aren't perfectly round until the rings have bedded into the cylinder.

Great work and great series of videos. Rebuilding my ‘98 55 and just looking to see if it’s as straight forward as I expect… seems it will be. After all these years of 10 cords/yr, the top end finally gave out. It’s a great saw. Awful sad Husqvarna stopped making them. Probably their best homeowner size saw ever.

Don, You said you have never had a cylinder that would leak. Me either, but there is a first time for everything. My Echo CS-670. I've had it together at least three times with the new cylinder on there and got bubbles around the cylinder base bolt on the flywheel side rear. I've got it to seal with red threadlock on that bolt, but that's just wrong. There is no visible reason for this. Email me with your thoughts if you want. I am going to reassemble it another time with the bolt head spacer contact surfaces in mind. we'll see. Great work you do Don. Thanks for all the time and effort.
