- Mercedes is planning to introduce massive upgrades to the W15, and it seems like the Silver Arrows have a little bit of understanding as to why the cars performance is so off balance after the Chinese grand prix. Having claimed just one top 5 finish out of the opening five races, the Silver Arrows have been the fifth fastest team at most. But their ultimate goal is to be race winner, championship contenders. And to march towards that goal, the Silver Arrows are fast-tracking important upgrades to Miami. With this in mind, what are the upgrades that Mercedes are bringing to Miami. Since they keep on saying that the factory data does not correlate to on-track performance, has anyone suggested that the problem is not with the car, but with the simulator software?
Yes, a Mercedes engineer of recent has accepted it. Mercedes are now moving onto a new approach therefore, which we will be covering in our next video.

Mercedes have previously said that they don't see the bouncing in the wind tunnel. Does the simulator predict it? I wonder if the simulator accurately models peak downforce but; the car generates a much lower average downforce due to the bouncing.

I really hope they do improve, im not a merc fan im actually mclaren…. But im a fan of both george and lewis and want them to perform well and be up there more with the other top teams i love to the see competition this season…. Let’s just pretend red bull dont exist😉😂

Personally I would be questioning the simulator and get that checked, the problem could be there
It's not easy. Real track conditions cannot be simulated in the simulator. They need to understand first their philosophy, understand what the car is doing, to calibrate said simulator.
Doing that could just be the Silver bullet Mercnare searching for.
@@overtakefans yes that is true, however these teams have gathered so much data over many years for all weather conditions, they probably know the name of the guys that laid the tarmac they have that much info, so their simulations should be pretty dam close to what they are actually getting.
Agreed. This is not a mistake a team like Mercedes should be trying to fix for almost 3 years. Yet they are. Hope they do get this fixed around Miami.
I believe Mercedes problem may be the rear suspension setup or layout, I suspect.
Under load into a corner, the rear is too unbalanced and not sprung correctly. The rebound/tortion doesn't seem strong enough. Therefore, one tyre has 50% more grip than the other at the rear during a corner, causing instability in the rear end and a terrible oversteer I would imagine, killing the driver's confidence in going fast!

Every time they have some sort of upgrade nothing happens. They are not improving in any way unfortunately
