By "Captured in a compelling video", do you mean brought forth in the most unsettling fashion?
Seriously..."BD" should have seen that reaction coming. Everyone I showed that video to had the same disturbed reaction.
I have to give it to them. Giving it a sleek human like aesthetic, and then realizing that it does NOT have to move like a human.
    Atlas has become a twisty-boy!

This is great. I concerned what the end goal of these robots are. The more capable they become eventually they will be disired by corporations to replace people in industry. So what are people to do, how will they make money to eat and live. The only people who benefit from robots is the already rich. The poor will remain poor or worse. Before these make their way to shop floors, governments need a place for the millions of people who will be displaced. Universal, basic income is not a full answer as the rich will use what ever means they can afford to avoid contributing to paying for that and so will corporations. So the burden will fall on the middle class and poor. Like everything else so. Seriously hard planning and decisions need to be made now. Or we loose a chance to fix a huge issue before I begins.

Well, like I have been saying for like 5-10 years... Stop making robots in our image.... we have limitations and there is soo much more that robots can do compared to us, like the 360 degree joints that you can finally see in this clip...
Even then, there are still human limitations that are copied right over to the robot... until they start to think out side the box, only then will the robots have unlimited potential to work along side us....
In the end tho... Robots will replace humans in the workplace, and that cannot be avoided... we make mistakes, we get sick and we get injured... and that costs $$$, and some cases it can cost millions of $$$ either via compensation for injury or the costs of the mistake... Robots will eventually become highly reliable and they will replace humans in the workplace...
