  • HOW TO: USE BOVIE PENCIL
Hi guys! In this video I will demonstrate to you how to use a bovie pencil. I know I can't actually cut or burn an actual skin because I'd need to have a bovie p on someone but you get the idea.

Understanding the equipment in the OR allows you to troubleshoot when something goes wrong. This makes you more proactive in solving problems at hand and it looks good on you to know what you're doing. We're a team in the OR and it helps a lot when there's atleast one person in the room that knows how to operate a machine.

I love taking the opportunity to teach students about OR supplies and equipment so when we have canceled cases, I take advantage of teaching yall the basics. If you like my content please subscribe and comment all your thoughts.
    Goodluck future ST!

The ligasures are so expensive. 3k for 6 pieces so imagine how much they charge the patients.

Have you ever thought about becoming a CSFA?

Yes I was in the program jan 2021 but dropped cause it wasn't worth it in my state. Csfa don't get employed at hospitals

So many doctors have their own PA or NP. FA is a dying profession imo

@@billyboy9360 this is in my honest opinion. If u go straight to PA without knowing any doctors or worked in the field, no one would really hire u in surgery as their PA. But in my case, I have worked with this surgeon for many yrs and when he found out I was going to school, he said he will hire me on the spot for PA so I have options. It's just studying for PA requires me to quit my job and drop everything. 🙃

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK yes at some point the clinical and coursework would become intense enough that you would have to similar to ICU nurses going to crna school

@@billyboy9360 right but crna you'd need BSN then 2 years in ICU then 2 years CRNA
